Melanie made a song for ALL the introverted awkward kids who are just a little too emotional. That’s why I love her. Its so nice to have a celebrity that makes me feel safe and heard. I love this song because changing yourself to fit someone else’s expectations on how a person should act isn’t a relationship, because they aren’t friends with someone if the other person isn’t their true self around them, because that person isn’t themselves so the person they care about doesn’t exist. “I’m done, I’m done.” It’s when you finally have a intervention with the person, you can’t stop or change yourself for them. So there isn’t need for a relationship when you aren’t even there for.

POV: When the curtains opened, Melanie was attached to gut like strings and an orchestra began playing around. The strings then began twisting her body in ways she couldn’t even comprehend. She was so confused on what was happening and she felt her bones breaking inside of her and cried in agonizing pain. She began to feel like she was going to die right then and there but as soon as the last violin note was about to play, the music stops and everyone stops dancing. A red blood cell comes from the organs of the body and says that it is time for them to go. Everyone then began running out of the room leaving Melanie tied. She stayed there tied and tired but then the blood cell came to her and let her out it then told her to get ready. When she asks for what, the cell replies say “ it’s that time of the cycle”. I can relate to being a people pleaser and trying to overdo myself for others. I love to see people happy and I tried my best for them to feel really comfortable around me. And then I thought “Am I doing for this my own good, or for their good?” And it just changed my perspective of others. Yes, it’s hard to grow to put yourself as #1 but if you try, it will definitely be worth it in the end. Of course I care about others but putting myself first has definitely made an improvement on my self-esteem. This is by far my favourite tune on the album. The melodic mastery of the chorus is genius. The way the backing vocals weave around each other is so hypnotic, especially when you consider that the music is basically pizzicato and muted. Melanie is a songwriter of the highest regard. Well done.
