@Copwatchtv obtained body camera footage of an incident of the Bernalillo County Sheriff Department pulling over Monica Garcia of Albuquerque.
Garcia had a temporary license plate in her window that looked altered. Her story began to unfold when she admitted to deputies she watched a friend forge her temporary license plate.

Cop reads her rights, asks if she'd like to answer questions. She answered questions. She didn't have to. Nobody "Made" her confess. She had every right to not confess.

What you see there is recent enforcement here in NM cars with no plates isn’t a rare thing. It is a problem because you know they have no insurance.

@@216trixie they have relaxed enforcement all around which resulted in people not even bothering to register their vehicles. It used to be no registration they would tow the vehicle not anymore.

How do so many people have not have their driver's license on them? (I realize she doesn't have one.) I've left the house maybe twice in my life without mine and I've been driving for 35 years.

There's a lot of this going on here in Colorado springs. It's one of the easiest temp tags to copy in the south west. If you are going to do the temp tags, you should do it with a out of state one😂 she has no income but drives a navigator.

A lot of homeless people have underlying conditions that work against them holding down jobs. Mental health, physical health, substance abuse, depression. It's easy to say "just go get a job and a house" but the details matter, and we don't know what's happening in her life.

The arrest video cannot tell us those details. I think driving a car without a license and insurance is pretty bad, and especially doing so for years is not cool. I'm not criticizing the cops for arresting her.

This woman is ridiculous. I've never heard that flasifying a temporary tag is a felony, but I can understand why as well as why it's enforced. I can't personally believe that she would think that it's a good idea. That is a REALLY nice vehicle too for someone who's homeless, doesn't have a birth certificate, and does not have a job. I hope she can get her affairs straightened out and then get a career so she can get her life back on track.

I think it's typically 60 days in CO...it's one of the most expensive states to register a car, but given the age of her car it'd probably be under $100 for this lady

I did something similarly stupid in my early 20's in Colorado. I had a license but a fake registration renewal tag and no insurance. I paid a HUGE fine.

It's very expensive to get a car plated in CO. So in some parts of Denver every third car has no plates.

When I bought my car from my mechanic I put a hand drawn temp tag on the car until my plate arrived in the mail. I kept all the docs in the car just in case. Tag office never gave me a temp tag but thankfully I had the docs to prove it's registered. I got pulled over at least 3 times from my house to the Tag office (15 minute drive).

It's rampant here in Colorado, it's expensive to register here and every other year strict emissions tests or no registration for you! Lots of people driving with no license plates either, no insurance, very little police enforcement...it's like Mad Max 5 out here y'all!

I had a 350 dump truck about 10-15 years ago that I couldn't get through inspection and acquired a sticker that I filled out on my own without realizing that one day would be pulled over on route 1 (because the cab was sagging). Everything else was legal and the trooper was nice enough to let me drive it back to where I worked at(which was nearby). I was charged with forgery and unsafe vehicle. I plead it down to unsafe vehicle and got a $400 fine. Never do that again!!!

Probably 10% of cars in NM do not have license plates and even more so with motorcycles. If you don't believe me, start looking around. And if they don't have plates, you can bet they don't have insurance.
