In this 4K HDR video, train driver's view of a soothing journey to Grindelwald village (asl 1034 m / 3392 ft) from Kleine Scheidegg mountain station (asl 2061 m / 6762 ft), is presented. During this journey, you will notice that how quickly fogs/mist accumulate in the Grindelwald valley and create a fairytale-like village landscape. A glimpse of the ambience at Kleine Scheidegg mountain station is also presented at the beginning of the video. This Wengernalpbahn (WAB) railway train covers more than 1000m elevation difference during this journey. At the Grindelwald Grund station, notice a change in the direction of train journey. This video offers some unique winter season views along with stunning snow-covered mountainous landscapes, natural surroundings of the Swiss Alps, and snow-fresh mountain breeze from the driver's seat. The Kleine Scheidegg is located directly at the foot of Eiger North Face. It is the watershed between the two Lütschinen valleys. It is a popular starting point for the Jungfrau train to the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe station, the highest train station of Europe. This hiking paradise can be reached from Grindelwald, Wengen and Lauterbrunnen villages via Wengernalp railway trains or via hiking from these villages. It offers a walking area surrounded by timeless beauty at the foot of the mighty Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, trio mountains located in the Jungfrau region of Swiss Alps. Along high-altitude footpaths, one can walk/hike to Mannlichen (90 minutes; Easy hike) or to Eigergletscher.

  • 1:05 I read a travel report to the area from the 1920s (by a German guy who lived in Lugano) and what's really cool is that all the station names and the railway names are the same today! The same transfer from the Wengernalpbahn to the Jungfraubahn. There is also an amateur film on the Internet from the area shot in the 1930s, and again it doesn't look very different than today.

    • @@AKSense The only ones I saw were the replacement of the Grütschalp funicular by the cable tram and the now in-process replacement of the direct Stechelberg-Mürren cable tram (supposedly the steepest cable in the Alps!) I rode it once and it was like taking a lift. And a piece of complaint: the new BOB trains have windows made of _two_ sheets of glass which overlap _in the middle_ across a _metal bar._ This is slightly annoying, given the _views_ outside the window. I don't know what BOB were thinking here. The old cars had those nice huge uninterrupted sheets of glass (like the WAB or the Zentralbahn trains), very nice. Done complaining 🙂
