EYE OPENING speech by Alan Watts (SHOTS OF WISDOM 1)

In this inspirational speech, Alan Watts addresses one of the most disruptive concepts that the ever-shattering human mind fails to grasp in very simple terms. For those who are familiar with the works of Alan Watts, this is “nothing new under the sun”, yet they would sit there, like myself, totally spellbound and listen to him speak as if they would listen to him for the first time. Such is the special magic of Alan Watts. For those who listen to him for the first time, congratulation! You have come across one of the greatest teachers of the highest truth. Your journey might start here, so make sure you check out the next Alan Watts videos. Watch and enjoy!

  • People live in their head.. always reliving the past.. or anticipating the future.. neither of which are real.. only the moment is real.. and how our heart feels in this very moment is what will create the potential future.. if you feel love and gratitude in this moment despite your circumstances your future will be full of things to love and feel gratitude for. You can choose this or dwell on negatives.. at which point you will draw the negative into your future. Choose wisely.

    • Of course you are good enouh and measure up- noone else can be a better YOU than YOU can be YOU. You were created to be you, not someone else. When you stop to think of it, everyone else is also trying to evaluate how they measure up. Relax- be confident in who you are, how you are, and pretty soon you will feel at ease no matter who you are around because you set aside the anxiety of "not measuring up", and you will find that life is sll about just being you. We all mostly allow self doubt to chain us down, but if we can come to,the understanding that this world was created for us to enjoy, and can learn to stop not enjoying it beczuse of self doubt , then we will start to know the joy of being who God created you to be without the constant worry that we aren't smarter, thinner, heavier, taller, wiser, better looking, not as good looking etc. We need to stop, being so,harsh on ourselves for not being what we think we should be I stead of what we actually are. Anyway- this is already too long, so God bless, and relax, you are just fine- and if others don't think so, then find new friends who do, and fill your life with positive influences who build up instead of tearing down. Those that don't accept us have artificial expectations of how people should be- and are constantly stressed about Mai training an artificial appearance th3mselves, in order to fit in to some certain group who Oddly enough feel,th3 same way they do, and so don't let their distorted view warp your view of who you are.

    • @johnny longshlong. You already missed the point when you invoke a God as a "he". It only shows you are not ready. There is no God in reality. Any God in your mind is purely a concept. Please don't offer advice to mislead others when you are not ready yourself.

    • One way that helps me see beauty in little things - literal beauty - is having a toy camera that prints out little tiny crude black and white pictures on thermal till roll. You never really know what you’ll get, what setting will produce what. Two out of three times I get variations on a blob - but it might be an impressionistic mood, some exquisite detail or something that really does look as if a human sketched it. It often catches some completely different aspect than I anticipated. Now I look at things and think, “I wonder what that looks like?”

    • Just read the Conversations With God books! For people to think God went silent 100's of years ago, never to speak to the human race again is as insane as it gets. To think Divine inspiration stopped 100's of years ago is also incredibly insane. We don't need old writings or books because God has spoken to us in our day and time.....of course......there are millions of people living now who feel they are qualified to speak for God on any subject. They are all around you.....and me.....if you want to know all about death then go quick and get the Conversation With God book titled HOME WITH GOD IN A LIFE THAT NEVER ENDS......you can thank me later.....unless YOU are one of those who knows what God does, when God does it, how God does it and with whom God does something. If you are one who knows what has been inspired by God and what has not......then just ignore my message here.....Much Love!

  • Yes, absolutely! So many people just want to talk about the past - what they did yesterday, or last week. Or while walking in the countryside they talk at length about a book they've read. This is the opposite of coming alive to the here and now. To be alive to the here and now is moment-to-moment exhilarating, even in an empty room. And living in the here and now, one is never lonely.

  • This is so true. Meditation brings me into the now, which is all there is. I sleep really well because I meditate just before falling asleep. I have no thoughts. You might try it. I remember in a philosophy class, the professor pointed to a desk and asked us what it was. We said, a desk. He said science says everything contains atoms. If you look under a microscope the atoms, supposedly in this desk, are too far apart and their distribution could never form this desk. Nothing is really here. This desk is a symbol we have made up.

  • Just as we confuse money with actual wealth….I have actually been thinking about this concept a lot recently. Had a discussion at work about over working yourself and things attributed to “getting that green” as one dude put it. My job was pushing for overtime and working “mandatory” Saturdays. I had vacation planned( for like two years) and this popped up. I had to decline. Work was totally understanding…🤣🤣🤣🤣no they weren’t I got into a heated argument with my Supervisor. I’m a great employee. I work my 40. I’m on time and reliable. So I have no problem standing my ground on my deserved time off. As a couple of weeks go by I noticed everyone I work with slowly looking miserable. I asked a close working friend if he was ok. He said no. But my paycheck will be great… I thought to myself at what cost? I wasn’t struggling with bills. Got to spend time with my family. Make love to my wife Saturday mornings and was overall happy. True wealth.
