Catching giant hornets with a sticky sheet, but a smart hornet avoided the trap (with subtitles)

Giant hornets are so aggressive and powerful that ten of them can wipe out an entire bee colony. We have no choice but to get rid of giant hornets.
It's a trap for catching rats. You can buy it at the supermarket. If you want to catch hornets, you should set the trap and put honey on it. Hornets attracted by warning pheromones are captured, and the captured hornets emit warning pheromones.

This method is common among Japanese beekeepers. I heard that Asian giant hornets have been brought in the United States and everyone is having trouble. I think this method will cause less damage to bees.
Totally agree 👍
how do you prevent bees from getting trapped too tho?

such a great amusement to watch on the 50" smart tv with spaggethi

I love how they get pissed off and go on the attack only to them get themselves mortally trapped. Next to using a flamethrower it's the next best thing.

Shoutout to the one brave bee who had no chance but still attacked so furiously until the hornet went back out of the hive. She a real one.
let's remember every bee who was just like that
I'm hoping that's what was going on but if you watch before that hornet got sticky stuff on its face and was trying that whole time before getting stuck to get it off. I think the bee got stuck to its face after confronting it. And it was stuck to its giant pincers. It got a brutal death
I still can't get over the fact that the hornet that wasn't caught took a ripped piece from one of them and took off with it dangling from its mouth.
@@mamanimepranknewbie Absolutely, the 'one brave bee' thing was mostly a meme format but deff mad respect for all bees.

I don’t remember pheromones- are the honey or poison from hornets?
@@sandramyer7081pheremones is how social insects interact. Once a hornet is caught it raises an alarm pheremone which drives the other hornets to attack mode which they attack thr glue trap then get stuck themselves
Will the Trap capture bees ?
Bro I thought you were out there without a bee suit lmao I was like this guy is nuts. Sick Video man 👍
You should make the beehive entrance smaller that hornets cannot go in but enough for the bees to pass. Don't forget to layer or cover the wood edges of entrance with metal plate to protect the wood entrance. By doing that the hornets cannot enlarge the wood entrance by just gnawn it.
Notice some of the hornets attacking each other toward the end ..

the bees wouldn't come out if they knew hornets were just outside
It's probably specifically to attract the larger ones. I'd rather I know where their hive will be as opposed to guessing every day. We have a similar situation out our house w/ wasps. They like our property. So every spring they find a new place to build some kind of murder nest. If I give them their own home, maybe I can take them out all at once. Better than finding a hive by accident...
That one hornet though, dang. He had that whole thing calculated
It's amazing how durable they are, you think being stuck and pulling so hard they would start losing limbs, or an eyeball or something!!
an eyeball is crazy 😂😭😭😭
They are always angry.
"Yall got stuck stepping on this substance, know what? Imma step on it too....." - wasp probably.......
So no one is gonna comment on that last hornet? That dude literally came mocked everyone got their food and took off! He was like: Guys count me out! Don’t leave us! Sorry can’t help let me just grab that bee so it doesn’t waste! Bye!

Yellow jackets stick together when one of them are in trouble
Bro..... Lol
Are there bees still alive inside? That's a lot of hornets
The way is limited only for bees passage, hornets can't enter inside. The problem is that hornets when find a bee hive tranfer the entire colony here and bees are trapped inside and can't work. If you destroy "spy hornets" they can't communicate the position of bee hive to the colony of hornet and the bee hive is at last safe from a war.
@@hasturm1232the way in is smaller after the visible opening? Smart. I suppose you can't just leave the trap there, so the apiarist must be vigilant for when hornet scouts arrive and get the trap ready fast
That hornet at 1.28 goes inside the hive and then comes out with a small bee stuck to its snout. Later it will fall head first onto the glue and the small bee will also get coated in glue. At the end, the other hornet steals it from the struggling hornet and flies away with it. As it is covered in glue I would strongly advise against eating it.
I hope the hornet sees this advice 🙌
Lmao @@Dincorta

Well done for holding your ground & the glue when the one at about 2:25 breaks away! I imagine he could have then seen you as the threat & stung accordingly....😮
Bruuh he’s definitely in a protective bee suit 😂 he’s fine my guy. Holy shit did you actually think he was just chilling with these hornets? Cmon now. 😂
I’ve heard that the suits aren’t 100% protection….
@@squil35 I've heard that too & seen other videos where the guy was in a T-shirt!
@@squil35 yeah, maybe, but they def prevent the majority of stings, and make it very hard to be stung
fun fact: these giant hornets will only attack you once they have infiltrated the honey bee hive and have found the food source inside. if you are around when that happens they will automatically count you as a threat to their operation. they won’t just attack if they are scouting the area. i also watched the guy in the black t shirt use the mouse glue traps. the only reason why he wasn’t stung was because they weren’t able to get inside the colony. hornet pheromones do get released once the colony is found to alert the other but if they can’t get into it, there’s no reason they would release an attack pheromone unless you’re actively trying to make them aggressive. it’s also imperative to move carefully and with slow movements as so they don’t detect anything. a giant hornet sting can kill in some cases and more often then not, cause excruciating pain. (thanks coyote peterson for taking those stings for us)😭
Thanks for the video. Next time, turn the paper so there is room for more hornets.
He got them all ?
@@iloveACIDone flew away at the end
Coincidentally, NHK just had a news item about honeybees from a cold area in Japan being transported to overwinter in a relatively warm area, where flowers bloom throughout the year. No mention was made of giant hornets, though.

Possibly the few getting back lose from the sticky traps will communicate to others about the traps. Maybe not, but in any case, all escaping ones should surely be killed before getting away. Thanks for making the world safer for people and other creatures.

I wanted to ask, how do you dispose of these glue traps once the hornets are dead? Do you put in with your local rubbish bin? That would cause a fright for the bin men collecting your rubbish.
