Please Note: we have plastic light fitting and PVC conduit are which are fully insulated and we have metal light switch boxes and metal plates making them exposed conductive parts.
Videos are training aids for City and Guilds (C and G) and EAL courses Level 1, 2, 3 plus AM2, AM2S and AM2E.

  • Fantastic clear video as always guys. I'd really appreciate it if you could put together some videos on filling out the various test sheets at some point thanks.

  • Great video Gaz as always. Good idea to put the Line in the earth/CPC bar, saves also having to null the resistance of the jump lead; just got to remember to put the Line back into the MCB once completed. Nice to see sequence of the tests for the 2 way lighting. If you have intermediate switching the process is the same except you have an extra switch to turn on/off. Almost forgot, nice to see the tests that prove that the CPC is connected to any exposed conductive parts.

    • @@GSHElectrical I have the problem with fluctuating readings when doing continuity tests and zeroing leads which I do connect length ways on croc clips , I have an old meggar 1552 it was second hand when I got it, i got brand new leads and its been calibrated I'm thinking of asking my company for a new tester. I can imagine the reply ...How much!

    • Paul Tipton depends on the type of tester and the wholesaler you buy from... shop around and good luck 👍

    • @@vievlogs589 The problem is my tester was given to me by my employer and wasnt new when I came to the company and as I don't supply the test equipment I'll have to have a word with the company electrical Qualifying supervisor to see if I can get one though the company accounts ( they can pay for it) otherwise I'll just carry on as I am it just takes longer.

  • Gaz as the Earth lug is machine pressed ie attached to the metal box there’s really no point or need to probe on the box it self same for switch Yoke so Earth connection good, otherwise there would be no point in having the Earth lug. great video though 👍👍👍❤️

  • From someone who isn’t an electrician & is purely watching for entertainment value, what would be the procedure if the continuity between r1 & r2 was high ? What fault would this indicate & how would you fix it ?

    @r7915@r79154 жыл бұрын
    • Hi, to reduce resistance you can increase the conductor size and or shorten the conductor length these are the 2 most common ones. Thanks for the wonderful message and support. Gaz 👍

      @GSHElectrical@GSHElectrical4 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Gaz, so a higher resistance isn’t ideal but there isn’t a “failure” as such ?. Thanks for the quick reply, thechannel is very well presented & I can see you live for your job/passion.

  • Your videos are amazing sir, but I tired checking if the cpc is connector to the metal box of my two way switches and I’m not getting a reading for some reason. Have I done it correctly ? I connected one probe to common and one to the back box ? Please let me know thank you ?
