  • Unpopular opinion : AO is the best Murray Grand Slams tournament. Yes he never won it, while he won the US and two times Wimbledon but he played 5 finals (1 at RG, 3 at Wimbledon and 2 at the US) and it was the GS where he was the most regular throughout his career. The fact Andy Murray never won this tournament is one of the weirdest inachievement in tennis, with Borg never won the US.

    • That's true, and he won Wimbledon twice which is much less fit to his play style

    • it was tragic that he never won an Aus Open title but then he came up against Djokovic four times and Federer one time. Close to beating Novak in two of those finals.

    • @@rikwallant9901 yes absolutely. 2013 especially was close against Novak, and with a great tennis quality. Globally the AO 2013 was a great tournament with the Djokovic Wawrinka, Federer Tsonga, Murray Federer and Djokovic Murray .

    • @@jimmychan9582Idk about that. Just because Murray was known as a grinder he had great volleys (still does), great returns a very good serve and great movement. All key elements on grass. Also, it helped a lot when Lendl made him more aggressive and he started going more for his serve and forehand. Many Queen’s titles on top of his 2 Wimbledon wins, 1 Wimbledon finals loss and several deep runs.

    • It's not an unpopular opinion at all. Every knowlegable tennis fan knows AO is Murray's best slam. His 5-time finalist status is honestly more impressive than some past winners at the AO.

  • That old Murray backhand back in the late 2000s was just ridiculous. The way he flattened it out and rotated through it was just unreal. Never seen a better backhand since

    • I agree that Murray was at his best between 2009-2013, the way he hit his shots in 2012 and 2013 was the way he should have continued playing but he started to become more passive as he went on and got into rallies. 2016 may have been his best year stats wise but 2012 and 2013 murray was a much better player in my opinion

    • Yeah, when it's a hard flat cross-court backhand, it's the best double handed backhand, amazing 👏🏽

  • Many of these are from the 2010 tourney, when his movement was at its very best imo. It's been a long time since he could execute passing shots of that quality at the end of a full sprint and i recall him doing them routinely in the 2010 event. Shame he didn't bring his "A" game to the final.

  • Sorry if Im wrong, but the break point from 2023 Australian Open (#2 in the video) should be first, because it was a great point, quite long, and had a profound effect on the match. Not saying all these points werent great, because they were, but I disagreed with a few selections.
