Speciality for adrenaline junkies. Emergency medicine is one of the top paying speciality for a fresh passout DNB/MD post graduate today. Lot of opportunities in India and abroad. In present situation Radiology and EM are the top paid specialities. More opportunities in south india.
Thank you so much for this interview, White Army! This has cleared up so many questions.
Ur information about Emergency medicine course is very good . But, fear is still there to work in emergency department due to the aggressive behaviour of public in all states, against the doctors, in emergency department. I still can visualise one HOD medicine in a city in Madya Pradesh, who was manhandled by a politician and locals as despite his best efforts, he couldn't save a pt. He perhaps resigned after that incident. I also visualise another doctor killed in West Bengal during corona time. I also remember a Gold medalist Gynaecologist in Rajasthan, being framed by a local politician, and she died due to suicide.
Is medical field toxic ?
Superb talk Akshaya.. you've explained options really. I also like the wellness/ self care bit .

Now that NMC has scrapped out EM as a mandatory requirement in medical colleges, is it a good idea to go for EM as a speciality?
Is it true?
