    • @@flupetepak ​The first Hobbit book in USSR was published in 1976 . Bilbo was portrayed as a soviet actor Evgeniy Leonov, one of the most famous soviet actors, even now. The illustrations are pretty cool. You could easily google it.

  • Just so you know, the 90s were the horrible time in USSR/Russia. The crew had no money at all and they still managed to create something different and new for their audience. I saw a comment below that originally they wanted to record this play for children audience. It’s supposed to be a play not a movie - as you can see their acting is overwhelming as it would be in theatre (so you could see what’s going on even if you’re far from the stage). So it’s actually amazing the actors and the crew who were probably poor as mice still created a fantasy show with very limited props and technical support.

  • Specially for haters - this is a performance, not a movie! In the USSR, for those who loved performances, but who did not have time to go to theaters, they filmed television performances and showed them on TV in the evenings.

  • Этот телеспектакль, на мой взгляд, абсолютно целостное художественное произведение со своей стилистикой, с замечательным видеорядом, с прекрасными ленинградскими актерами. Не стоит сравнивать его с монументальной экранизацией Питера Джексона: там эпос, тут сказка. Телеспектакль адресован тем юным зрителям, которые в 80-е годы каждое воскресенье с нетерпением ждали передачу "Сказка за сказкой", которая создавалась в тех же павильонах на Чапыгина, 6, что и "Хранители".

  • Хочется сделать следующие пояснения : 1) это экранизация ДЛЯ ДЕТЕЙ 2) Телеспектакль снят студией ленинградского телевидения , соответственно имеет определённый временной формат и не имеет какого то вменяемого бюджета 3) Да , в СССР любили детей ! Существовала даже „Центральная киностудия детских и юношеских фильмов имени Максима Горького„ , где снималось огромное количество фильмов для детей всех возрастов - от дошкольников до подростков . Существовали детские кинотеатры и Театры Юного Зрителя 4) Ленинградское телевидение на протяжении многих лет экранизировало сказки разных авторов . 5) В спектакле участвуют театральные актёры , некоторые из них имеют звание Заслуженных или Народных артистов .

  • Maybe special effects are funny and it is obviously low budget production, but the actors are amazing! Music is so cool! It reminds me of TV theatre plays we had in Poland in the 90s. It was always about the actors, who would perform at master level, even if that was a 'stupid' play for kids. I absolutely love it! And my Russian is not that bad really, I can still understand everything!

  • Мне очень понравилось всё. Я когда первый раз читала, то именно в этом переводе. Потом мне попалась Антология где были и Сильмариллион и Хоббит и Властелин Колец. Эти книги мне немного поломали мозг и я три счастливейших года своей жизни провела в компании таких же стукнутых ребят в Лесах с самодельными луками, кострами и сном под Звёздами. И звала я себя Эльфийской Лучницей Алианиэль. Наш отряд был случайно перенесён в этот мир, мы были обычными Эльфами и у нас даже были свои Орки. Потом мой парень, тоже Эльф, решил что пора бы нам Уйти к Морю, (Тупа автостопом поехать в Таганрог, из нашего Павловска (ВРН) и как-то самим научиться выживать), а я - просто струсила и не решилась оставить дом и бабушку. Ну и как-то с его отъездом всё и прошло, вскоре.

  • Конечно, с точки зрения пресытившихся современными спецэффектами спектакль(!) выглядит наивно, а местами примитивно. Но это для тех, кто смотрит исключительно глазами, не подключая мозги. Рада, что постановка сохранилась и можно пересматривать, снова возвращаясь в те времена, "когда деревья были большими".

    • For the circumstances yes. WIth their budget, yes! For the time, definitely not! This was made in 1991. Star Wars was made in the 70's. Ralph Bakshi's LOTR was made also in the 70's. But I agree. For many this was an immense treat! The makers indeed have their hearts in the right spot!

  • I would like to make the following explanations : 1) this is a film adaptation FOR CHILDREN 2) The TV show was shot by the studio of Leningrad television, respectively, has a certain time format and does not have any sane budget 3) Yes, in the USSR they loved children ! There was even a "Central Film Studio of Children's and Youth films named after Maxim Gorky", where a huge number of films were shot for children of all ages-from preschoolers to teenagers . There were children's cinemas and Theaters for Young Viewers 4) Leningrad television for many years filmed fairy tales by different authors . 5) Theater actors participate in the performance , some of them have the title of Honored or People's Artists .

    • На самом деле англоязычные пользователи и под другими русскоязычными видео, которые по каким то причинам завирусились в их сегменте, оставляют практически только положительные комментарии. Каких то старых видео это тоже касается. Все эти рассказы про их ненависть к выходцам из СССР просто фейки, ну или полуправда.

Но, в свое время, огромный пузатый хоббит, сверху вниз поглядывающий на тщедушных гномов и Гэндальфа с бородой в блестках, вызывал противоречивые чувства. И это я тогда многого по телеку не разглядел. Например, что гномы отбивались от гоблинов в пещерах Мории спортивными рапирами. Да-да!

    • Peter Jackson has the best LOTR adaptation from book to movies obviously (The Hobbit movies he messed up on though). But there is something endearing to see someone, who had to have read it and thought "Ok this is how i picture it on screen". There's also a Finnish version of this too which outside Peter Jackson is my favorite out of all adaptations

    • Quite believable. It's not made by Hollywood, budget was tiny, and it's clearly adapted from stage. The 90s are littered with films like this. Cameras were suddenly very attainable by the public, and people went wild. It's about as good as some western TV movies or TV shows of the time.
