HOW TO - CARE FOR A COCKATIEL

I have kept Cockatiels for several years now and I thought it was time to do an everyday care KZhead video for anyone that is interested and considering getting one of these beautiful birds. Cockatiels are one of my favourite birds and I will forever recommend them for anyone that wants a feathery companion, however if you do suffer with severe asthma than maybe the Cockatiel isn't for you.

  • I have a Cockatiel, I call him Buddy, and he's gorgeous. I let him out of his cage for about 2 or so hours every day. When I let him out, I turn on the radio, and he dances, lol and he's so cute, he taps his little claw on my lap, and he bops his head up and down. Thanks so much for your advice, I might have to get another Cockatiel for company for him. ❤️👍

  • Thank you so much for giving these great tips on cockatiel care. Unfortunately, one of my beautiful cockatiels, a white female called Paloma died because I didn't know sunflower seeds were so harmful. I cried so much for her. Thank you for explaining about those nasty little cages. They indeed are cruel. I love how cute your cockatiel is and how she not only trusts you but loves you. She keeps trying to preen you. I have a female just like her and I love her and she loves me. She will look for me when she flies!!!

  • I’m getting a cockatiel in 1-2 months or so. They start eating solid foods in a week or two. I can then go by and meet them at the pet shop I go to. I’m planning on going every weekend, counting that it’s kinda far away from where I live. They hand feed them there and get them used to humans while we pay the money, and then I can take them home 😁

  • Hi! I'm heavily considering getting two cockatiels but I'm worried about my room. My bedroom is basically my office, with lots of wires and electrical hardware everywhere. Is this solvable with those little wire hider things? You know what I'm talking about, like those sleeves you use to make them look tidier? Another thing, my closet doors are literally giant mirrors, and I'm worried that would mess with the bird's phyche. My room is pretty small in general, I'm debating keeping it in another room, but the mirror problem is basically my entire house (I never realized how many mirrors this place had until now, damn). Any tips? :(

    • I have had my cockatiel for 6 years, and he lives with me and stays in my room and I have a moniter and video game consoles, and I have found that you just have to keep an eye on them I’d say definitely try to hide cords (they’ll definitely find them tho). Hope this advice helps!

    • Just mix it into the seeds. That's what I'm doing for my budgie everyday. Since his mate passed away he refused to eat veggies or fruits (he only did it before because she did it. He followed her around like a mirror). Now it's been one year he hasn't touched any veggies and fruits I'm separate and need drastic measures. I just mix all the things I want him to eat into his seeds. Sorry buddy your seeds are wet. If only you ate your veggies you'd have gotten nice crunchy seeds. 😂😂
