First time out at the Range with the Bergara B-14 Squared Crest in 300 Win Mag. So far so good - grouping great at 100 yards with the 1st ammo I tried.

  • My crest in 308 also used to throw one shot out of most groups, also it shot just under 1 inch or slightly over with 5 different loads. After 100 rounds it fixed itself! No more flyers and 1/2 inch groups with most quality ammo. Heck it shoots sub moa with cheap lithuanian ggg !

    • thats intersting to hear! i recently got a bergara hmr in 308 and its doing the same thing with having 3 close shots then one goes way out to the left or right. Im at around 70 rounds through it so i hope at around 100 it will tighten up

  • As with some other comments, cheek weld, natural respiratory pause, follow through etc are all things that are taught in long range shooting. Staying with what you always have done sometimes get you through. My older brother never had formal training and I’ll be damned if he isn’t a pretty good long gunner.

  • Very nice boolot slinger. I’ve noticed that the Remington ammo you’ve been shooting has be amazingly accurate in your rifles as a whole. The new Rem ammo company is doing some good things. Keep up the great content. You’ve come a long way in video and shooting content.

Not exactly sure what I’ll shoot with it .Ammo ain’t cheap but what is anymore…I went ahead and bought the fancy bullets since they ain’t much more in 300. Good ole core lokt are like $40 a box in most places. I spent a few more dollars a box and and can get coppers online on sale. Online prices vary wildly on 300 win mag and 7mm. 2 of my old favorites;) Keep em coming

  • Here's my take on the third flyer you're getting on your groups... you fire two shots and then push your sled forward. Then the third shot goes high. The fact that this occurs on a regular basis tells me it's not you or the gun, instead its your sled/base. when you push the sled forward it's not going back to the same spot, not the same stable platform you had, especially important on a wood bench top. On the last group you shot you fired an extra bullet without moving the sled forward, causing the bullet to move back to the group you were on before. Anyways, that's my take on it... Love the channel, love the guns you've been testing. Keep it coming!!

This rifle in 7mm PRC is one of my dream rifles and very high (Top 3 maybe 🤔) on the list of sub 2k rifles. I was going to say sub $1700 rifles but I wanted to include the Seekins Havok PH2 as well. Perhaps 🤔 you could be so kind and respectfully request to Mr Traveling Hunter himself to send me one of these in 7mm PRC for long term testing? Just kidding kind of, but that would be awesome 😎. The only thing I don’t like is the extended magazine which sucks to carry in one hand under the action. Plus it currently isn’t available in left hand. Hopefully 🤞🏻 sooner than later.

    • @@Sirlants_alot My new Remington SPS Stainless .270 has the same loading problems, mainly with 150 grain bullets. The bullet is just dragging a little and hanging for a second. Someone mentioned it could be the feeding lips need polished or something? I am really shocked this is happening with a new rifle in todays world. Non of my old 700`s had any problems. they were all 1995 and before though. I think the new owners of Remington firearms are just as bad as the Freedon group, but in some ways worse. They changed the BDL stock to more of the CDL stock and my SPS Stainless has blued swivel studs, bolt head and follower spring. Why on god`s green earth would someone put blued parts on an all weather stainless firearm? This is my last Remington for sure. I`ve lost all faith in the new owners already.

      @currituck@currituck6 ай бұрын
    • @@currituckI have four new 700’s. I had a 5th, but sold it because the action wasn’t fitting well enough into the stock. Before giving up, try loosening both action screws and retightening. Tighten the top one first fairly tight and the bottom one next. However, don’t over tighten the bottom one as much. I use an Elkind T-style 5/32 Allen wrench. If the lower screw is too tight, you will temporarily bend the action causing feeding problems. You can tell because the bolt doesn’t slide as smoothly. Then try and see how it feeds. Let us know how you make out.

    @pauldickson1495@pauldickson14956 ай бұрын
  • LOL, the scope is in mils, he was adjusting as if it was an MOA scope - 4 clicks per inch at 100, or 0.25 inches per click He adjusted 6 clicks down when it was hitting 1-1/2 inches high, which would have been correct for a MOA scope. He also adjusted 5 clicks left when it was hitting 1-1/4" right, which would have been correct for an MOA scope. A click of 0.1 mil at 100 yards is equal to 0.36". Thats why his point of aim was never on target. Doesn't affect the group size, only the sight-in. It appears his scope's vertical adjustment is not particualrly accurate, but the windage seemed accurate for mil adjustment. The 5 clicks left moved the impact point about 1.8 inches left. If he is hunting long distance, it is imperative to differentiate between 1/4 MOA clicks and 0.1 mil clicks.

    • barrel break in is for customers. I think it was a Bergera rep that the only reason it exists because customers want to know a break in procedure.

    • Twenty or so years ago.. I believed in the barrel break in method.. but nowadays I believe that two to three boxes of ammo down the bore bring out the best in the rifle! I've not noticed a difference in either method 😊 If you got a shooter.. you got a shooter! Which most rifles out shoot the person behind the trigger.. in my opinion! Rifles made nowadays are capable of MOA with several different brands of factory ammo! That's a great thing 😊 Now.. cleaning your rifle is still necessary.. especially if you are hunting in cold weather and wet conditions! I always bring my rifle inside and put it in a corner by a heat source.. once it's dry I wipe it down! Inside and outside! Haven't seen any issues along the way 😊

    • It is recommended in the owners manual. I did it and noticed very little copper in the barrel when cleaning. My rifle had shooting better every time I shoot it. 🤷🏼‍♂️
