  • I can’t imagine what Denis Villeneuve will do after his Dune movies. His imagination has no limits. He truly has become one of my all time favorite film directors!

He told her when to drink water and that she must do the desert walk to avoid sandworms. He drove the ornithroper and saved her by telling the bad guy to remove her gag. He also fought a duel in her place. It's a common thing in patrarchial films where teenage boys have more agency than full grown adult women (Power of the Dog for example). She created the only resolution to the deadly feud between House Harkonnen and House Atreides possible by giving birth to a boy - hoping he would be the Kwizatz Haderach. In so doing, she unleashed a war that would run through the galaxy: her final look at Paul in the last shot of the movie shows her grasp of the magnitude of consequence her decisions have made. She goes from relief at their living in 'safety' in the desert to seeing Paul as the Unknown in her stare. It is a masterful touch and I admire Rebecca Ferguson's depiction.

  • It totally sucks that they didn't let him make both parts at the same time. We'd have them both by next summer. Now we'll have to wait 3 years minimum. Typical Hollywood... Someone should have locked in Denis and everyone for 5 Dune films. Covering the first 2 books and the wars in between. Or at least a super high budget series.
