The cash influx came shortly after Johnson, then the newly minted speaker, led the House passage of a $14 billion aid package to Israel - a proposal he fought to fast-track by separating the bill from the tens of billions in aid earmarked for Ukraine and using IRS funds to finance it. Once the bill made it through the House, Johnson urged the Senate to approve it as quickly as possible.

There are those of us who remember when the Ohio National Guard was deployed at Kent State University in 1970 to "control" the student protests against the Vietnam War. Four students were killed and nine were wounded by stray rounds fired in the direction of the crowd. Two of those killed were actually involved in the protest while the other two were bystanders outside the protest area walking to classes. Repeating something with the expectation of achieving a different outcome is the definition of insanity in its purest form!

I've never forgotten the four students openly murderd by their own American soldiers in Ohio nor do I forget the historic 40 million Native American lives shot down the same way, on their lands. Leonard Peltier is not a political prisoner, he is a political statement. A message to the whole Native population silently repeated by the US federal government to this day: "The deadly "Indian Wars" of previous centuries waged against all Native Americans will never end".
