The Xavi era is off to a winning start! And in the local derby, no less. Barça put an end to a run of four games without a win in La Liga by seeing of Espanyol at Camp Nou. The three points are a massive boost to the team’s league position, and also a huge shot of morale going into Tuesday’s crunch European fixture against Benfica.
Barça were especially dominant in the first half, in which they failed to turn the one-way traffic unto goals, and finally took the lead through Memphis from the penalty spot.
It was only after going a goal down that the visitors started to create much real danger of their own, but as the game progressed there were some heart-stopping moments as they came close to equalising on a number of occasions. But Barça managed to hold off the fight-back, and have now extended their record unbeaten run in Liga derbies to 23 games.

What do you mean?? We have always been good in creating chances...we did it with Koman, Setien and Valverde. Our Players just suck infront of goal😔 PERIOD!!! We can create all the chances we want, but if the players keep sucking at scoring the damn goals then it's not going to matter how many chances we create😅🤣 but I do see the difference in enthusiasm and intensity already, for sure💯 on to the next match💪🏽
These players created more chances if 45 min than they were able to in full matches under Koeman. Definitely a change. Just need ansu and dembelle back its too much pressure on Memphis alone.

We played good. The intensity during training was Defo helpful. There were many chances which we could have converted. We were dominating almost the entirety of match except the last 10 mins which was scary tbh. Hopefully we can pull a win against benfica. Forca barca

There were a lot of improvements in this game, A LOT! Players knew their roles, players were motivated. What we need to improve is the Stamina, still the same problem in second half where we switch off and dont play with same intensity. Last third decisions and shooting must be improved too, especially when it comes to Depay, he doesn`t pass the ball when he needs to and when he clearly has the backup player to pass to, he tries to hold it in possession too hard, which ultimately leads to loss of ball possession. And also defense, especially on right side, we were vulnerable down there. Overall, for the first match, this was great, with a lot of improvements, the future is bright, especially when injured players come back, though too bad that Aguero won`t be continuing and must finish his career, I was really looking forward to watch Kun play for us.

Xavi's first match as the coach of Barca proves he has luck on his side too. You need that element of luck to be a successful coach. Espanyol hit the post more than 3 occasions, it was as if the ball refused to go in. I am impressed with barcas new wingers Abde is my favorite.
