  • A regular cheap soldering Iron uses "induction" to heat the soldering Iron tip. This one primarily heats the paperclip through high current via a transformer. Induction happens in the coils of the transformer, but the soldering iron tip (i.e. the paper clip) heats not via induction but through high current. None the less, impressive build. I enjoyed watching it.

    @alaninbliss@alaninbliss5 жыл бұрын
    • That's what I was about to say as well. Induction happens in the circuit prior to the tip, but the tip heats because of resistance to the current produced by the circuit. The soldering is done via thermal transfer and not induction, which induces current via magnetic flux lines expanding and collapsing at frequencies that rapidly move the molecules of ferrous metals. So it's a big stretch to call it an induction soldering iron, but a cool project nonetheless.

  • Induction soldering iron can induce heavy current in shorted inductors inside circuit, so be careful using this type of irons. Rest the iron is very good...

    • What is NICE is that he used a bolt with 2 nuts as a secondary "winding" on the transformer! That's what's great about high frequency circuits. You can use small transformers with very few turns on them.

    • @E Solano, the ads come from KZhead not from the author of this video. A simple solution to this annoyance is to install the AD BLOCKER extension to Firefox then you will have ads free from KZhead or whatever web page you visit. Open Firefox, go to "preferences" then "extensions & Themes" and type "AD-BLOCKER" on "find on preferences" tab, click "AD-BLOCKER" then click "+ Add to Firefox". Close Firefox and open it again, now your computer is free from all ads. Similar procedure work on Safari, Edge program too, hope it help.

    • What Is Islam? Islam is not just another religion. It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him

  • All that and it produced some of the shittiest solder joints I've ever seen. What made it worse was that you were re-working existing joints, and it's *hard* to mess that up. A new joint to untinned components is easy to mess up with bad technique or bad tools, but messing up a joint that you're essentially reflowing is hard to do. Clever induction heater, but do *not* use it as a soldering iron. At one point the tip was glowing red. There's a reason good soldering irons are thermostatically controlled. It's because too high a temperature messes things up. Red heat is *far* too hot.

    @bdf2718@bdf27185 жыл бұрын
    • if you notice he turn it on and off when doing so. the width of the wires isnt that big so it looses temperature very quickly...

      @Hudsonkem@Hudsonkem5 жыл бұрын
    • @@Hudsonkem The low thermal mass makes it worse, not better. A thermostatically-controlled iron also switches on and off but the thermal mass means the temperature stays within a small range. This piece of shit cycles between too fucking hot and too fucking cold. The result is a very crappy joint.
