Your first session with a client as a Personal Trainer can be daunting. Making sure you nail the first session is critical for having long term clients and having high retention rates for your online fitness business.
We look at the 7 key movements screens that will be needed to build any good Personal Trainer programme. These include:
- Squat assessment
- Hinge assessment
- Single leg stance assessment
- Split squat assessment
- Overhead reach assessment
- Horizontal push assessment
- Rotary core stability assessment
We also look at body composition testing - what tests are best to do for your clients, how you can overcome barriers with this, respecting your clients and doing what they are comfortable with etc.
Tom also touches on Performance testing, what performance tests you should be doing with your client, why this is important and later on in the PT Core, demonstrates these tests with a client.

  • do you recommend doing this for every client or just those who are elderly or have possible injuries? I have a client who is really eager to lose weight and I think he might find this a bit of a bore - as useful as I understand it to be as a trainer
