iRobot Mop Braava M6 Review | 5 Tips to cleaner floors
I wanted to share my 5 tips that have improved the performance and ease of use of my iRobot Brava M6 mop. I thought vacuuming was enough until I found this machine. The roomba mop is super smart and easy to use and leaves your floors shiny clean every time.

I would only recommend this mop if you also have a roomba vacuum. If I only had one I would prefer the vacuum first, but this is a great compliment to the system. I would also wait for a sale. These often go on sale and you can save a lot of money that way.

I have been using pinesol. A 20 to 80 ration. 80% being destil water. It's been over a year and no issues or gunk build up. It mops every day 🙂
That's great to hear! I love the smell of pinesol, I'll have to try that.
Thank you for this video; you saved me the time and trouble of trying to figure out which cleaning pads to buy, and I easily found the 128 fl oz bottle of Bona Multi surface cleaner on Amazon. I've also purchased distilled water per the suggestions of others who have posted here.... AND.... i'm armed with the tip to pre-wet the pad, and spot spay any spots on the floor before running. They were ALL great tips and I thank EVERYONE HERE! I just purchased the M6 unit and used it for the first time today; I love the thing. I've had a little trouble with the mapping but I am astonished at what a great job it does overall, especially on corners, for both sweeping and mopping. I had a little trouble figuring out how to how to access the smart map when it said, "your smart map has been updated" - without wiping out what I had falready mapped. If I have to, I'll delete it and start over. The important thing is the THING CLEANS WELL! Plus, the reviews I looked up said they liked this M6 model BETTER than the upadted modle that came after it. For once,, I picked the right one.
Great review and thanks for the tips. Our iRobot Brava M6 mop arrived today so all of your tips will be come in handy. I am hoping that this iRobot mop, & the iRobot vacuum will clean my floors every time.
Just got the M6 and did a few mapping runs yesterday. Got it cause I love the i7+ roomba with vacuum dock we got a few weeks ago. The M6 is there waiting for Roomba to finish its job to do its first mop job today.
I've had the s9 Roomba for a while now and love it, so today I splurged and got the mop. So excited for it to arrive. I'm so grateful for my Roomba!
They are a great combo, and setting them to run back to back is amazing to watch.
I use 3/4 Bona Multisurface cleaner and 1/4 70% rubbing alcohol and my floors are so clean!
Fantastic! Just 3 hours to clean my dining room, totally worth it!
Thank you for sharing these tips. I am in the process of buying a Roomba.
I have a i7 rumba (R2D2) and bought the M6. Love the quiet. Much quieter than my i7 and her name is Beta. I love this so far will update when needed
When you get it, wipe the wheels off. They often leave tire tracks because they are dirty from factory and shipping dust.
Great review and thanks for the tips! My wife asked for a robot mop for Christmas and… well, let’s just say I went a little over the budgets we set and got the S9+/M6 bundle. Personally, I was a little more focused on the vacuum because I didn’t have much faith in the mops but your video really helped me feel good about the purchase, I can’t wait to see it in action!
I had similar feelings about the mop before I used it, but it really helps pick up the dust on the hardwood that the vacuum can't pick up
Clayton, can we have an update on your mop experience?
Please share your review after using it for a while now.
I put FABULOSO in it !! Works like a charm!! 😆
Perfect 🤗 thanks!
This was an awesome review I thoroughly appreciate this
The dog got the like 👍🏽 for me 🤣. GREAT TIP video video my friend.
Such an informative and helpful video. Thank you
Thanks for the tips, ours will be here in a couple of days.
Great review and the only one with very useful tips.
The camera does NOT scan through the "lens" that was shown at 1:48. The camera looks up and forward for use in mapping. The circular piece he pointed to is a light sensor for use with virtual walls. This is a holdover from the early days when iRobots would bounce around randomly. The virtual wall was a small battery powered device that could be set up to create keep out zones. If the light beam from the virtual wall was detected, the robot would react just as if the front bumper had hit an object.
If I haven't ran it in a few days and I let some stuff get dried on pretty well, I pre-spray the tough stuck-on spots with lysol, fabuloso, or the like and it works great without trying to use a different solution inside the mechanism. I have a Bissell crosswave pet and the cordless Tineco s3 and I barely have to pull either of them out (note, this is with 2 large dogs, kids, and a grown manchild).
This is probably one of the most real-life-advice tip with examples that I can relate to. Thank you!
brilliant idea! Thank you so much for this tip! I just picked mine up and used it for the first time toda. Your common snese tip has me whacking myself in the forehead for not thinking of if, LOL
Bona cleaner is now supported, but since it's pre-diluted, cost may be similar versus the iRobot cleaner.
Great video. Thanks!
I like the flair of cocktail bartending with your Regan's Orange Bitters No. 6
Your video made my braava mop our dining room,
Claro que si! Acá usamos POETT desinfectantes para pisos y guala! Me ahorro lo del loquidito.
I love that you named it “Wet Panda”
Haha I have the "Trash Panda" and "Wet Panda" roombas
2:50 clean the sensors on the roomba charger and press the home button on the roomba. It will flawlessly go to the charging station by itself and not miss. Just keep it clean.
Not a "generic" mop solution, but I found the iRobot version made everything sticky, even at half strength. I tried the Bissell Multi-Surface solution from my Spinwave vac/mop, after seeing Bissell uses it in their robot mops. I use it at half strength because my water is VERY soft, and that works way better. No streaking.
Tip: Use an old quart bottle, mark the solution fill level to make a quart of mix with a marker. Add that amount of solution concentrate to quart bottle, then add water to make rest of quart. Refill from quart to brava as needed. Only mixing 1 time per quart used.
Great video! I fill the tank with water and I add 1 tablespoon of liquid Clorox as a disinfectant for my floor it works great.
How long have you been doing that? Are you still doing that, and is everything working well?
@@RoadTripA1A yes it still works great
Great video! Thank you for all the recommendations. I have been using “Fabuloso” the purple one and just regular water 🙆🏻♀️ I have used it for 1 year and a haft and is working perfectly! Any issue so far
STANOWCZO ODRADZAM!!!!!!!
One more thing... I didn't even link this thing to "Hey Goodle", yet and it blew my mind! ☺
I use fabuloso in my favorite scent and dilute it similarly.
How long have you been using fabuloso in your robot? also, do you dilute it with regular water from the faucet?
@@apocalypse4312 i dilute it 1 part cleaner to 10 parts water, so its mostly water but still smells amazing and cleans well. Yes, cool tap water with about 2 or 3 tablespoons of fabulouso for a light fresh scent.
It is my fav robot
after how long do we have to change the mop on the bot? How much area does the full tank cover?
Nice
Thank you for this! I wanted to ask if the brava is able to go over room dividersi, may be 50mm over the floor surface. Thank you!
No it wouldn't be able to make it over a 50mm divider. It probably wouldn't make it over a 5mm divider. This can be a good thing though since it won't run over any rugs at all.
Just use swiffer solution. Works awesome!
Thanks i just buy one but it doesn’t have the pastic base but you give me an idea it’s not necessary thanks because i try to buy one but the sell it for 70 box
i own the s9+ and finally got it replaced because of the error 31 of hell: @ its finally works great again and i was tempted to get the m6 but i think i'll wait for gen 2 of the m6
Yeah I the m6 is already a few years old, I'm sure there is a bit they could change in a gen 2 version
Will this mob detect rugs? My house is all tile but we have a large rug in the living room and two rugs in each bathroom as well as two rugs in our master bedroom.
It won't run over rugs. The edge of the mop isn't as raised as on the vacuum so in won't run up on top of anything. I love this because I can just move chairs and things onto the rugs sometimes to give the mop more area to mop.
Yes mine did and I just got it today. Love it so far.
It just go anywhere to clean and the bona solution wowwww
I have a wheel problem that is not related to changing tires and I can't get parts or get it fixed. the sweepers and moppers should be kept in warrantee because there will be problems. My house apparently would make a great test lab for new models.
Hello JJ. There are 2 area of the hardwood/composite floor on the first floor of my house. The foyer and the kitchen, which are separated by the living room carpet. Will this present an issue in the way that this mopping robot will not cross the carpet area from the kitchen to the foyer to mop? thank you.
Does the mop have to cross over the carpeted living room to get to the second space that needs mopping? If so you will have to manually set it down in the area where you want it to mop.
My only question about this product is whether it can cross a carpeted floor, like a bedroom, to go mop a bathroom?
No it can't go up any ledge, so it won't even run up on any rugs for me
I wonder if can use the Bona hardwood floor POLISH in my iroomba mop?
I have been using several different floor cleaners through the mop, and it has been working great for years.
Is the dry cleaning mode as good as a vacuum? I am in an apartment and I don't want to be a noisy neighbor
It might not be as powerful as a full sized vacuum, but I found it is plenty powerful enough to clean up everything our dog and cat throw at it.
Does it clean faster than the Irobot roomba j7?
I find that the Braava jet leaves streaks on my floor. I've tried running it twice, with cleaner solution, with just water and I still get streaks. My floor is on the darker side so I'm wondering if that's the way it's going to be.
you might have put too much cleaning solotion, i did at first and had to clean my floors with just water anda mop a few times before the streaks went away
I'm having this problem too. I have light floors but they are high-gloss. Customer service was not helpful.
replacing the pad halfway through a job seems to help.
I bought it because I have issues with my back. I already had a Roomba that I was happy with. The Braava Jet M6 not so much. First off I found the software not very userfriendly to begin with, even less when you want to change something. But maybe that's just me. After about a year of regular use, the nozzle started to clog up. I live in an area with low water hardness and there is a decalcifier in the house, I wouldn't expect this to happen. Still, after cleaning everything I could clean, the nozzle still has issues. Unfortunately, one can't go and poke around in it, the only solution is to open the whole machine and access the hoses transporting the liquid to the nozzle. With my bad eye sight, I just can't risk that. When you have floor joints that are relatively deep, those won't be cleaned, the mops don't reach deep. I won't buy it again if this one breaks down and try another brand. When it works, it's great, but as long as the whole nozzle supply system isn't made accessible, problems will keep popping up. Using demineralised water might be a good idea, adding vinegar will probably deteriorate the hoses.
Try cleaning out the filter where the solution tank is really well. It might not look dirty but it could be clogged up some. Try using something that sprays hard
@@catlin6163 Hi, I clean that regularly. After I posted this I went to soak it in vinegar, not yet used it again since though. And water in it still doesn't seep through. I can try to blast it with the high pressure air I use to remove dust from my pc. Will see what it yields at the next attempt to have it clean the living room. If it doesn't work after the vinegar, I'll try the blaster. Tbh for that price there shouldn't be that much hassle to keep something working, so it will be unlikely I'll buy another one when this one pops its clogs.
@@Lionezzzhave you had any luck with it since?
My room a mop runs into something and never turns or moves. The wheels just spin. It also is not spraying & moping. It goes all across the room and never sprays or mops. It seems to have lost its memory.
Help! I also bought the generic washable wet mops for my M6 and I can NOT get it to recognize these as wet mops.?! How do I change it?
That's weird, it should automatically detect the wet mop since there are little sections on the pad that tells the Roomba whether it is a dry or wet pad. I only have generic M6 pads, and they all work so far.
@@JJShankles well damn....I sure don't want to buy oem pads :(
@@ginaschneider5581 Sorry I wasn't clear, you don't need OEM pads, just something made for the M6 like this: amzn.to/39UkY1a These are working on mine just fine. I would double check the sensors on the bottom of the roomba to make sure it is detecting the pad correctly
@@JJShankles hey.... I'm starting to feel defeated. I've moved on to a different message from saying pad is a dry sweep to please add a pad. Is the mop smarter than me?
hi i have the same device. but i think it has a design flaw. it would be better if he went backwards. so you wouldn't have all these stripes from the wheels. I mean it should always go backwards.
How would that work though? Because if it sprayed forwards and rolled backwards it would never roll over the spray. And if it sprayed and rolled backwards, then it’s just going forward again and you get the same result? I think it’s just a limitation of a robot mop. It would have to hover otherwise.
@@jamesedge6847 the spray thing can be in the front part and the mob in the back part. then he can spray and roll over it an the mop at the back part can do the job without stripes from the wheels. he is moving forwards like always but only the mop is at the end.
Right, having the wheels in front of the pad would eliminate track marks.
They should just have another slot on the rear behind the wheels, either two little velcro patches right behind each wheel, or a whole other pad on the backside to catch the tire marks and just extra pickup power. Idk why no one thought of that all this time.... that's what I'd do. Just two little scrubbing pads behind each wheel to wipe up any leftover streaks would be killer
@@GiancarloXmusic i did this in the past but adding the mf to the back prevented it from docking. Only solution is to move wheels to the front.
Can you use it without the internet or the app?
irobot idea: a roomba that sticks to walls and clean the wall :floosh:
It could use that ability to finally clean stairs! That's the one part of the house I still need a normal vacuum for
I have door trims between rooms , will this go over the door trims ?
I don't have any to test it on, but if it is more than a half inch it might not make it.
No. our band new unit won’t get over 2mm extruded aluminium thresholds between tiles and timber floor.
@@laustinspeiss do a map run, it won't go over thresholds, after run, when map available, define the thresholds, map again, if low of flat it will navigate them
@@ArthurTrevethan Sort of getting there…. what you say is true. Took about a week, but still occasionally can’t get on or off the charging dock… I suspect it’s possibly the added drag of the mop itself.. Even though it’s flat and properly assembled, scheduled cleaning is almost meaningless. I’ve looked and may be forced to look at making some Dremel mods to the parking deck.
It would have been nice to know how much it will mop on with a full container
About 70 Sqm I assume. I have a room a bit bigger than that and it stopped and ask to water each time.
👍🏽👍🏽
Hi, how to configure the robot for voice commands?
I linked mine to my google home devices. I think you can do that in the google home app
While I don't have the mop yet, our j7+ also works with Alexa. I just set up a routine called vacuum the house. "Alexa, vacuum the house". Boom, done.
Se solo lo avessero fatto Vibrante come il piccolo Braava Jet!!!
This product came highly recommended from my sister, but I have high-gloss floors and I can't figure out how to get it to not leave streaks. Does anyone else have this issue? I've tried just using vinegar & lowering the spray output, but not even that works. Customer service had no solutions. I'd hate to return it but the floor looks dirtier than before I mopped.
How do you solve problems when docking or undocking ? 90% of the time it has problems when returning to the base, maybe 20% when trying to undock. The problem seems to be simple traction… makes schedules pointless. The mopping is great, the mapping is a bit awkward.
I read reviews that say the solution is sticky… anyone find this to be an issue? If so, how is it resolved?
That may be an issue if you put too much solution in. I usually use it at half strength, and just dilute it more than the "recommended" amount.
Does it have “no go” zones?
Not software set ones like some other brands have. I have a little laser barrier thing that came with my Roomba vacuum, so that works for me.
Why does it go red ?
I have one going on 6 months, it dives me crazy. It leaves endless streaks on my porcelain tiles. I have tried everything . The solution it came with, water, water with vinegar, I have also tried the setting with the least amount of water being sprayed and still my tiles are left with streaks. Waist of my money
I’m afraid it’s the nature of your tiles. I sell steam cleaners for a living and they do the same
Try windex and water
I named mine ET
Does the solution have a nice smell? Or will it smell like antiseptic cleaning ingredients
It really does smell pretty good. It also isn't too strong. You can smell it while it is mopping, but after drying I don't smell much at all
My experience is different. The solution has such a chemical smell for me that I get a headache from it. So I don't use it. Roomba says you can also use water. I add a bit of vinegar against lime. And spray the floor a bit with some cleaning solution. Not ideal but works for me.
Smells like swifter wet jet
6:18 What do you know about the Delicate Hoses? 😂 That is an insult.
So you can’t use Fabuloso with it? 😩
I see irobot only recommends Bona but they probably own that product. Plenty of comments that people are using Fabuloso. IDK?
Can it see rugs
How does it act if there's a rug in a room?
It won't drive over a rug at all, it just bumps its way around it.
@@JJShankles , it only bumps around rugs in mopping mode, correct?
@@dylanhenry2576 Yes that's correct
@@dylanhenry2576 It bumps around rug in wet or dry mode.
What time is it what I said what time is What time is it
I pre-wet my reusable pad, usually pretty loaded and wrung out. But, By the time I move to the second room, the whole pad width is not leaving wetness on the floor. My nozzle does not spray as wide as the body like on the box and some water dribbles down the front. I only use bottled water in it, no soap. Any ideas how to get it to spray wider or keep the ends of the pad wet?
check this kzhead.info/sun/drBqpKWZoKNrgXA/bejne.html&ab_channel=bRobots
I can say that having a house with 50% carpeting makes this a challenge. The m6 doesn't do well travelling across carpet. In fact it can act retarded. So you will have to pick it up and take it to the hard floor room of your choice and do a manual clean. Not too big of a deal but not totally app controlled either.
Hi JJ, where can I get that solution bottle you showcased? And is this cleaning solution safe for pets? (Dogs in specific) Thank you!
For the tips, skip to 5 minute mark.
How do you change it from dry sweep to mop?
The device detects the dry sweep pad from the wet pad
@@bobmorgan4268 mine refuses to recognize non oem parts, why?
@@ginaschneider5581 I have purchased non-oem parts from Amazon and they work great. Make sure the part is compatible with your particular model. Many of the replacement pads look the same, but only certain ones have the correct cutout in the cardboard that slips into the unit. That is how the unit knows which pad is attached.
@@bobmorgan4268 can you please send me the link for the ones that work with the M6
Bona® Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner Refill for Braava jet® m6 iRobot® Mop
There’s a error at the start on the robot..
You’re handsome 😅
😄
Braava M6 after couple of years of usage was total disappointment. It hardly spend the time under guarantee. Was 3 times on repair and only 6 months after guarantee expired failed completely. Similar happens and with my Roomba halve year ago. I been a big fan of iRobot but last 2 cleaners owned made me to chose different brand.
This thing sucks, left all kinds of streaks on the floor, kept bumping into things. Returned it the next day
Agree. The navigation is so stupid. It cannot even discover my rooms just because I have a tiny threshold between 2 rooms. Mapping is slow and inaccurate. Sometimes the robot goes super slow and then suddenly accelerates to full speed and crashes into furniture. It just can't be compared with lidar robots. I have xiaomi s5 and that thing is a genius compared to this one.
is he getting paid for this or is this a impartial review ?
I wish they were paying me! I bought this one myself. I just really enjoy how much it helps with the dust and pet hair. My allergies have improved since I got this roomba. That's why I made this review
@@JJShankles very kind of you to respond to that person given you clearly stated in your video you paid for it yourself. Makes you wonder if this person was even listening. Lol
are you sureee you not gettting paid 😐
Haha I wish! If I was getting paid I wouldn't recommend buying the cheap no name pads instead of the expensive iRobot versions.
WARNING - UNLESS YOU WANT AN EXPENSIVE DOORSTOP - DON’T BUY. FAR TOO MANY PROBLEMS TO LIST AND FORGET ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE… WHAT A JOKE.
you might have a dud. I really love mine
I’m the same, hoping it’s a dud, only two days old. Mapping and mopping are great, but it can’t get enough traction to reliably dock or undock, and can’t cross the smallest thresholds between surfaces.
i think 🤔 he’s getting paid for review
