This HUGE life sized grizzly bear wood carving is my largest carving to date! This huge bear is carved out of white pine and stands 10 FEET TALL! Excellent work young lady. Am 75 and have been carving for years, but have yet to carve a bear with a saw. Ive always told my children; nothing ventured…nothing gained, so, I’ve got to carve one on my daughters new property in northern Michigan this summer. Will be a smaller, standing black bear. Rock on!

Just heard about you on the Monday segment of Marketplace. Amazingly Wild transition from nurse to chainsaw toting Carver. Great video, nice camera work and editing, you are very talented. Amazing job with the bear, fun watching you work your way down into it. That baby Echo chainsaw with that small bar appears to be an incredible carving tool. However, if I ever have a cast on my leg, I'm not letting you take it off. All the best luck in your future endeavors.
How kind of you to find my channel and reach out! It was a really spontaneous interview 😂 Definitely a wild transition, well honestly most people think it’s wild, I just think it was meant to be! Life always finds a way to get you where you need to be haha! But yes, that small 2511p has been a tremendous asset! It’s a newer saw to me, bought it along with the larger Echo specifically for this huge grizzly! I only had two MS 170s prior which were no where near enough juice for such a large project!

Short answer…too many days lol! Spent more time trying to figure my way around the log and moving scaffolding then I did carving! Had HORRID weather for the two months I worked on this project. Either multi weeks of rain or 100 degree heat waves. It was brutal. I think I have probably 100-120 hours into it…but I honestly have no idea. I just worked on it when the weather behaved…sometimes with a week+ between working days.
haha, Yeah i bet the logistics of moving around it was a pain, like if you missed something on the head you had to move the scaffold higher again. Even setting up your cameras must be hard. Sounds like the weather you had was similar to here, although not as brutal heat! ha. Well the hours you put in definetley worth it! bet the buyers are happy!!@@TayMarie23

Was talking to a carving friend last night and he laughed when I I told him I carved this whole bear with a 501p and a ms170 😂 yah I think having a chainsaw that can support a bar that’s AT LEAST half of the diameter of the log would have been hella helpful for this project 😂 One day, but for now I’ll probably stick to more manageable sized projects 🤣

Incredible…that bear is outstanding. So impressed with the growth you’ve made in such a short time. Its unreal! As a tool enthusiast, i also enjoy seeing the evolution of your tools/saws too. Great investments into your work… nice production quality on your videos as well, thats a lot of editing.
I had to go though over 600 clips to make this video and 4 days of editing 😂 this video was almost as difficult to make as the bear lol! Thank you so much for the kind words! I love all my tools and one day when I have a better set up with more space I can’t NOT WAIT to grow my collection!

I don’t chainsaw carve anymore. Loved doing it 10 to 12 hours a day. Seeing your dog there reminded me of my dog... chunks of wood flying everywhere and my dog dodging them but she had to lay there next to me working. Lol miss the old dog most.

The first video I watched was the how to on the glue down vinyl plank. Had know idea you had this other skill. I told my wife after watching the how to that I thought you were handy. Yup, what’s crazy is when I made that floor video I had never held nor started a chainsaw in my life 😂 I started my channel as a DIY channel to keep myself busy and stay connected with family since I moved 3 hours away from everyone. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be a full time chainsaw carver just a year after posting that floor video 😂 Life takes us on some crazy journeys!

I keep coming back to this, it blows me away the labor of love & detail, I won't even suggest a set of glass eyes to give your masterpiece a living stare into the wilderness as it just may come to life and head off into the Rockies. From the cracks in the base to replicate the rock on which this big fella stands, to the part down his back and all that detail just everywhere. I absolutely adore this piece of artwork. It is a credit to you my dear.
