Quite an achievement. The result of: "Never give up!" Wonderful!
I remember in the 60's helping an uncle restore a Sprite just like yours (but standard) same colour too. It's great to see your enthusiasm for British cars and your devotion to keeping them in such good shape. Love and respect from a Brit.
I remember ripping my 1960 Sprite apart and putting a GM 327 and powerglide in. Mine was a dark maroon with the fibreglass top.
What a hot little machine! Love the colour combination and it suits the Sprite very well. You should be proud. You've done a lovely job with it.
I know they are a tiny car but what a massive amount of work & love it requires to produce such a beautiful end result. Take care & stay safe.
Lov this guys enthusiasm and knowledge of old British cars. Wish he was in the UK. The best on hands channel on KZhead. Best regards.
That is one stunning car, a big thank you for saving these treasures.
Steve you are the real deal you do such awesome work and make your videos so enjoyable to watch thank you
It's a thing of real beauty. You've done an outstanding job on this. I absolutely love the colour and the way it looks.
That’s the meanest sounding Sprite I’ve ever heard! Beautiful job!
Maybe.
OMG, what a little gem. Wow!
I had a bugeye when I was in college in Dallas in the 60's. Fun car to drive. The trailing leaf springs make the car have rear axel steering, which make it fun to toss around. Once I left the keys in the switch when I went to work and a guy tried to steal it, but couldn't figure out how to start it. A fun car. Wish I still had it.
Miss my 1960 Sprite in Illinois. There were more in the USA than people realized.
What a beautiful little car and you have done an incredible job restoring it.
This car is a beauty. Brilliant work!
Awesome look. Awesome job!
Mate! That is a thing of beauty. Amazing. Well done.
AN absolute beauty of a car. Great job.
Let’s us know how the show goes for him when he gets back! Beautiful build!👍🇨🇦
Looks beautiful Steve!
What a work ethic! And what skill to create an as new car out of a wreck. Hope you are well paid for your time
I would rather have hours of that shaking camera than one minute of traditional video from the old media sources, Steve. Nice work on this car, love the dashboard, the interior looks good, all that metal work is just excellent, the scoop looks organic like it belongs. And the sound! Music.
Very impressive work.....that supercharger is so quiet.
Wow, great story. And a Fantastic Finished Product!!! I'll check out the conclave online! Thanks Man!!
Looks great. Here is to a lot of good reviews from the California judges.
Fantastic, all round. Great video
Excellent. Do more, in my humble opinion.
Back in 1964, I took my drivers test in a 1959 Bugeye Sprite that was this same blue
Steve's in the middle of a twelve hour nap right now.
I was too tall for that car at 12 years old but I always thought they were just beautiful. This one is just right and the air inlet for the engine does fit in perfectly and looks exactly as if the person who designed the headlights would have designed it. Congratulations on the work you did, most people would never realize how much it takes to get a car to this level.
This was a labor of love.
What memories this brings back! My Dad bought a "baby blue" bugeye Sprite in 1961, when he was stationed in San Antonio. That was the car I learned to drive on! Imagine: 6' 2" teenager sitting with my knees almost to my chin, but learning nonetheless! What a blast that car was to drive. Pretty bare bones, but I didn't care; I loved it! Dad eventually traded it for a Triumph TR3, but I'll always treasure the memories of the old bugeye! Thank you for that & God bless you and yours!
Miss my 1960 Sprite. Dark maroon with fibreglass removeable top.
Kudos on your work
Beautiful recovery of the Sprite- well done Steve !
This car looks so sharp ... Great job!!
My Sprite was Sharper for different reasons.
What a brilliant car.
Steve, that car is mint mate, excellent work.
Brilliant job!
I very much doubt there is anybody in the States who knows more about bug eye Sprites than you do :)
Joe Biden has forgotten more !
The bug eye guy KZhead channel probably is on par.
@@johnpearson492 I'm sure they do but how many of those in that channel are merkins? :)
Sweet! 👍🏻And get some sleep now, otherwise you will need restauration too 😉
Nice work on this one Steve. I bet it will be a fun little ripper to drive.
Had a standard Shorock supercharger on an A35 (around 1967) which produced 5lbs of boost on a specially built engine for that era, so around 90bhp max.
i was disappointed that we did not get to see you put the hammer down, i wanted to hear it at full song. what a lot of work and time on that car, whew! who is Ken. i love your channel and look forward to more interesting stuff. thanks
Ken is the owner of this car: kzhead.info/sun/iZuhk9egbqOhhoU/bejne.html
Absolutely stunning!
Nice work on the sprite, shows what a talented craftsman can achieve.
That car is absolutely gorgeous ... You have done a " Top quality job ".
Stunning Steve, incredible work!
Thank you Steve, your work is awesome sir.
This one has wow factor. Great work is its own reward. You must be very pleased by the response.
I'm sure boys of all ages could have a lot of fun in this great little car.
Yea I did !
What a fantastic job you did on that car! Wonderful to look at and listen to!
Beautiful restoration, I'm sure your proud of it as you should be.
Fantastic job Steve!
Such a nice looking car. You guys did a great job.
Magnificent build!
That is fantastic work! I learned to drive in a Sprite that looked just like that. 👍
Steve, congrats on (re)creating your Sprite into a truly special car. I hope you are planning future episodes that will display its power and handling. Would be cool to learn details of the output of the engine with the supercharger. I wish I could get to Big Bear this week to see your Sprite in person. I guess you can't make the show this 2021 but would've been great to meet you. We viewers sure enjoy your KZhead episodes. I hope you make your way to Orange County sometime soon, with or without any of your cars. With your expertise, no doubt any of the British marques would be happy to have you along at their shows.
My sister and BIL were big tsd ralleyists and had a Halda Speedpilot for their 1966 P1800. Theirs was mounted on the navigator’s clipboard and needed to be hooked up to the speedo every time. They did their calculations with a Curta Calculator.
Great work!
What a Gorgeous little car , with a bite as well.. Superb
wow, fantastic little car - nicely done!
Amazing work & great looking car!
Very nice car, very nice indeed
Quite the pile you started with. Beautiful job!
sounds GOOOD - nice car mister
Very nice. Personally, I think the white top goes better with the powder blue.
I thought so too, but when the profile of the black top was the winner for me. The neutral color of the car could support many colors for the roof great choice of color .
Love this car. I'd really like to try out a supercharged version of the Midget. Soooo cool.
stunning!!
A VERY nice example of the marque, congratulations.
Fantastic! Would love to know more about how that tacho works. Never seen one of those before.
Crikey Steve ! That was a mad rush ! Your work reminds me of my work. I did many 12 hour days , in fact 15 to 18 wasn't unusual.l did 47 hours for one miserable, ungrateful customer ! I guess there were no LHD supercharged "bug eyes" . The RHD "frog eyes" l've seen haven't got that small air scoop . And l prefer the white hardtop , l think you probably do ! So you must have a body and paint man ? Lovely work Steve . Well done !
My 1960 Sprite was left hand drive. Except for the headlights the hood was flatish. Unitl I swappd the 2-4's on the 327 Chevy for 3-2's. Then I had to cut a hole for the front air cleaner.
I like the build pics.
Fantastic
Very nice!
A true Gem.
Fabulous job :) It’s utterly bizarre seeing one in LHD.
Sweet car Steve - especially amazing considering what you started with! You do fantastic work. Is it just you by yourself, or do you have folks that work for you?
Brilliant. M.
Sweet ride sometimes you don't need a lot of horsepower to have fun.
Must be the ultimate Bugeye Sprite!
Maybe.
awesome
What a job, be interested to know what the BHP is with the blower on 👍
Saw the batch of centre console panels you had made up, do you have a purchase price for this panel?
Nice!
Wow, what a beautiful car. Wondering if you had it on the dyno to see what kind of power it was making?
Cute as a bug. Hope the crank is up to the supercharger.
Nice!!!
Really looks good .I bet it's fun to drive.do you know the hp that engine makes with boost.
That thing is awesome! Did you restore this car? That is bad ass!
How many horsepower more does the SC engine make over stock? That car is priceless, such a beautiful design. Job beyond well done Steve.
Awesome
What a great build! But didn’t they fit those steering wheels in the inverted Y orientation, so you can see the gauges?
wow nice
Brill job
Had a 59 Bugeye in college.
Just needs a nice chrome muffler tip to make it perfect.
How can anyone give this a thumbs down? Beggars belief.
Bright Sprite))
fab
How do you modify the rear ernd to take the power? Morris minor rear ends dont like the power in a BMC 'B' series car like a Major.
Being gentle helped.
out West, we call that a tattle tale tach
Interesting that there's only one SU. Is that because of the supercharger?
