In the quarterfinals of the 2022 CCAA Tournament, Sonoma State pulled off a stunning upset over the nationally ranked Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona, winning 7-6 in penalties. SSU goalkeeper Reinier ter Riet would have a career game, recording 12 saves and making the game winning stop in the penalty shootout to send the Seawolves to the semifinals.
