Our overlanding trip to the northern part of Scandinavia. From south of Sweden to northern Norway. This trip even include some parts of "Hurtigruten" - the world's most beautiful sea voyage.

  • I wanted to write that you could have done the whole trip with a vw golf until i saw the river crossing. that's why you have an offroader, most of the times it's overkill until you need it, but then you really need it. looks like an amazing trip! we'll also go to norway in two weeks. can you send me the route you did?     • Hi, yes most of the time you Can do the trip with an normal car. But we go to other places when we need the 4 Wheel drive. Sorry mate, I don’t have the tripe saved

  • Beautiful visuals! Must have been a great trip. I found the bridge-height situation interesting and I was wondering, isn't there a height restriction of 2,2 m on Hurtigruten ships as well?

    • Thanks, yes there are some height limits on the boat, but I think you can see that in the movie? I don’t remember the limit

    • J Koskinen hi, and Thanks. The stove is a swedish brand called Primus. I dont think you will find exactly the same today, becourse this one is over 20 years old :) For exampel Outnorth sell stoves from Primus. Check in the webshop. Have you seen my movie from western alps?

  • I'm looking for some guidance on where we are allowed to drive in Findland / Norway / Sweden. Put up front that I don't wan't to damage any of the nature still left on this planet! If we stick to what google maps sees as drivable we should be on the safe side? even if the specific track has no streetname?

    • Mark Bergman yes, you are on the right way. If you are not allowed to drive the road, there is often a closed gate or a sign that it is forbidden.

    • Daniel Hagen vet inte riktigt vad du menar :)) Vi åkte ju Hurtigrutten mellan Trondheim och Tromsö.. Om du undrar vart det var så trångt och vi åkte upp i en fjord så var det Trollfjorden vid Lofoten.

  • Note: Driving in nature in Norway is illegal. In the video he is driving at logging roads and farm access roads. This is legal, but the owner is allowed to forbid driving by motor vehicle, but the landowners are not allowed to block waking and bicycling, exception is in private gardens and on fields (destruction of crops). This is called allemannsretten. You can set up tents and stay 48h without asking the land owner, this applies in 'utmark', which is defined as 150m from a building. In national parks, all motor vehicle are illegal, even if a road exists. This includes pedal assistant bikes. Just a note, unmaintain may not be plowed. We tried driving from Norway to Sweden on old roads in August when I was a child, we had to turn around due to the snow not melted yet.

    • Hello and thanks for clarifying. Where can I get more information about which tracks I am allowed to drive on? Is there any way to know which unpaved roads/tracks are considered "offroading", hence illegal, and which are considered forest service roads or farm access roads, hence legal? Any maps I can use? I would like to plan a trip in the nordic countries.

  • Hello Daniel, I am planning to ship over my JKU to Sweden in the future. Can you tell me what is the Swedish/ Scandinavian laws about winter tires? I know starting around October, the country is required to switch their tires. What tires/ company do you recommend? I heard you can use studded or non-studded but with specific rating. Thanks

    • Brandon Koay hi, between 1 dec and 31 mars there is law to use winter tires, if you go whit stud or without is your choice. There is a lot of different dealers in Sweden for tires, for example Euromaster.
