Do you think it's better to buy one with i5-12450h or R5 6600H?
Thanks for the extra effort of showing results with upgraded RAM
I’m glad you’re testing this as I’ll be in the market for a budget laptop for my kid.
Looks pretty decent. From the preview photos they also beefed up cooling system and overall design now reminds more legion 5 2020 and 21 versions. I actually wanted to get this laptop but unfortunately it wasn't available in may and I see it's still not offered in my country retailers... Sad to hear about 3050ti. I ended up buying legion 5 with this card. It seems to work well so far but I only tested it on couple 2019/2020 games but there I hit gpu power limit, not vram
Best budget machine atm. I think it's a good upgrade or first computer for people who wants to start gaming. If you really can't afford the 3060, then save up and get extra RAM and a few upgrades. Probably should be a good entry level machine for the time being.
Thanks I want this laptop but ur review helps a lot!
This timing is impeccable! I have been looking for ideapad reviews as I was torn between 2022's Legion 5 or Ideapad. I wanted to use your previous similar videos as reference but this one is more relevant for sure
What did u finally get? Is it performing well battery and screen-wise?
@@vinayakshukla7573 I didn't get it (and won't probably get one in the near future, im so tight on budget) but one of my friends did get one with the AMD 5000 one and 165 Hz configuration it really is a bargain for its price (he showed me physically one he bought it). I could never imagine owning a 165Hz 100% sRgb screen for less than 1000 USD but he did!
@@StormClaws7 ohkk thx for replying dude! Have a great day and hope you get to have a laptop soon :)
@@vinayakshukla7573 I had the customised i5 & 3050 with 16gb RAM variant. Tested for a few games and FPS results are even better than this i7/3050ti variant for gaming and battery performance.
The laptop review i was really awaiting
Yess finally the review I have been wanting for :)
Hi i follow you since you had 10k. Congrats on 500k
Thanks!
Love to see this laptops hitting the market with intel 12th gen CPUs from lenovo at that price. In my country lenovo its one of the few manufacturers that arrives first with new laptops and also do not skyrocket prices(compared to the USA prices), and seeing this kind of laptop at that price its awesome, its a lot easier to recommend to people this way.
Great t-shirt lad! 🤘😎🤘
It’s great to see these more entry level laptops still perform well in gaming at decent quality settings and fps 🥰👍😇.
Awesome excellent information thank you
I bought last year's edition right before this one came out. It's impressive for the price.
I bought a bunch of the Ryzen 5600 version w/ 3050ti for $600. Sold them all for $925 plus shipping and made some profit 🤷♀️
@@brett19890 I bought my mine for personal use @ $600. Wish I had that kinda capital would've done the same
I customised mine to the 165hz screen(for color accuracy ofc), waiting for it to arrive!!
Honestly tho, temperatures are surprisingly good
Nice!
Hey jarrad i think it would be really cool to see an in depth investigation on what simply adding another stick of ram can do, and whether we need to worry about different sizes (8/16 etc) or speeds
We tested like 14 RAM configurations here: kzhead.info/sun/pr6aec2aeoV-n5E/bejne.html
Watch the few of your videos on laptops as of lately just wanted to reply to at least one of your videos saying thank you... New sub for sure ✌️😎👍💯
Glad you like them!
What I have read not that long ago is that the ideapad line can be a bit noisier and tending to over heating, vs getting a Legion. Also, just like happens with HP between Omen and most Victus models, it's rare (there are some, though) to find one Victus model with a 100% sRGb screen, while Omen always (or to my knowledge) comes with a 100% sRGB screen. This is crucial for people (like me) willing to use a laptop for graphic work (more than games, tho we also need a "gaming" card for (renders, etc) working). Even if the planned use is typically (actual desktop replacement, but a 100% mobile studio) use external high end monitors. You still want the screen to display sth not very off while in the go and you are checking stuff or doing light modifications.
Hey jarrod a humble video suggestion, do some video on laptop accessories you would recommend and other tech stuff and some everyday apps (pc/ android ).
There was a sale on Walmart, I got the Legion 5 for $649 with Ryzen 5 5600H and RTX 3050, considering I don't play intensive games it was an excellent buy.
Yeah pretty good, that price is usually 1650 in a lower quality Nitro 5 chassis
Hello, Bro..! When will you release the latest Lenovo 7i 2022 full test video? I can't wait to watch it Thanks.
Waiting for a full review 🥲
Working on it!
Using ideapad 2021 amd 5800h rtx 3050 and I am loving it
I bought the IdeaPad Gaming 3 with a Ryzen 5 5600H and a RTX 3050Ti for $771 2 months ago and I have it for 1 month now. Runs very cool after tweaking some settings. It's the 2021 version of this.
Dude is a fan of epic metal love the amon amarth shirt on you mate
Mine has the AMD 4600h and a 1650 from years back. For the price, I can't complain
Lenovo have been killing it lately with the laptops
hey jarrod, have you ordered the legion 5 2022 yet? Can't wait for testing on that
Hey Jarrod, when do you think you will you review the AMD Legion 5 Pro, as it is available in the US website
Ideapad and victus, really tough choices here. The only ideapad i found here is the one with 3050 and the victus with 3060. Both having almost same price range. Main concern with victus is the screen, although it has a fairly huge screen (16 inch) if you compare it with the ideapad. Also for some reason, victus 16 has decent cooler (according to some benchmark that i watched). Other than screen wobble and everything i mentioned above, i dont know othet things that victus 16 lacks from other budget laptop. Moving on to ideapad, my father bought ideapad 3 (ryzen 5 5600h version) for his daily work, mainly for autocad. He choose that because it fairly cheap. I might recommended him other laptop tho, that suit for his job. I think 45wh battery is a bit small for laptoo like this? (Somehow it took only few hours to run out power). I also try to run a game called Squad and hit 85 w while charging. But it only add few fps more and still below 60 on lowest setting. It also run CoD warzone on lowest and still below 60 fps. I dont know if those game are unoptimized or the gpu limitation. Other than that, the screen is amazing. Anyway, the point is, i dont know what to choose between Victus 16 or the Ideapad 3 (Ryzen cpu). I also found ideapad with 3060 on it, but cost more and shipped witb only 8GB of ram. I rarely play competitive fps game, so it think for the screen latency, is not that matter for me. 👍🏽
I got 2021 tuf f17 with 3050ti And with 16 gigs ram it's performing really good. Useing it on turbo mode runs most modern titles on 60fps and me myself limits the fps on 50 or 45 for heavy games like cyberpunk to prevent laptop going crazy with fan speed and thermals. The question I have it is ok for laptop always working on turbo mode and cpu temperature always be around 92 for all the time for gaming?
Hey Jarrod, would you suggest the 2021 ideapad gaming 3? The one i'm trying to get has 5800H/3060 with the 165hz 100% srgb display and the 60wh battery.
Jarrod can you please make a laptop brands tier list 😊
Hey Jarrod, love ur videos man. And currently i want to upgrade the ram on my laptop and i need some help on choosing one. Im running single channel 1Rx8 ddr4-2400-CL17 (stock ram) So should i pair the cheaper $27 ddr4-2666-CL19(latency= 14.25ns) with my ddr4-2400-CL17(latency=14.167ns) or just buy the expensive identical ram (which costs $53)? My laptop specs: CPU- Ryzen 5 2500U GPU- GTX 1050 laptop Stock RAM: SK hynix ddr4 2400-CL17 Thank you !
I think that really good game for testing cpus is "squad"...maybe it's not that popular as other games but it really shows the performance difference between cpus...especially single core performance
Can you test a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 with a i5-11300h + GTX 1650 next?
You need to put MSRP in.. and do $tofps calculations too It helps
Jarrod sir but you didn't show the total system latency with optimus bypass.
Please try buying the base variant r5 5600g 3050 that budget segment is really much needed
Random question but is there any huge difference in gaming with a Ryzen 5 vs Ryzen 7 on a Lenovo Legion 5 (rtx3060)?
5:15 lmao i see what you did there😂
Hello Jarrod, this might seems weird, but I noticed that Lenovo laptop products has high BIOS related problem that leads to permanent bricking... can you confirm whether is it true or not? I've read some bios update failure from Legion & Ideapad alike, and its concerning.
Can you please do a review on this year's predator helios 300
I've got the 2021 Ryzen variant of this laptop with a 5800H and a 3060 and it's amazing!
Can you play on external monitor? Hows the performance?
@@badaboom5869 I'm not rich enough to afford an external keyboard lmao, but performance is solid. Easy 1080p 144fps in many games. I'll be getting a monitor in September so if I can remember I'll reply again.
Hey Jarrod, I bought a Dell G15 5520, it has an RTX 3060 and a 12700H, with 16GB DDR5, and 1TB PCIe Gen 4.0, I upgraded it to 2TB 980 Pro that I already had, do you think it was worth it for $1249? Edit: it was brand new, and it had the 1080p 165Hz 3ms screen
Any info on when Ryzen 6600U and 6800U tests are dropping?
Considering the laptop,it's so good stuff price and peformance
For those on a budget, my advice is to look out for older models closer to when RTX 3000 launched these are at end of stock and often sell heavily discounted. I paid around $920 about a few weeks ago for an Omen 15 with 5600H, 3060, 16 GB RAM, 1TB Nvme and 144Hz FHD 15 incher directly from HP
Where are you from... I mean country
@@sreeranj8187 oh apologies, I'm from Canada. Paid CAD$1200 for the laptop here
@@ij6708 Wow that's almost the same price with my laptop but with better specs.
@@Jakiyyyyy I waited for a good deal to grab a laptop. Stacked two discounts to get it this low. Are you also in Canada?
or if you would rather really go down and be super conscious about budget, get a 1660ti, 2060, 1650, or a 3050 from last year and older of course.
Hello, Nice Channel, do You have a Review of laptop ideagaming pack 3 amd ryzen 5 5600h nvia 3050ti 32gb ram?
Fun fact: IP Gaming 3 uses Ryzen while IP Gaming 3i uses Intel. Also this laptop has so many variations that people seem to argue about the specs. It differs from generation to generation. This year generation more expensive. Also if you want budget, get one with last year generation (gen 6), it's getting cheaper now.
Nice fact even though it's pretty obvious from the name itself.
this year is an intel year most likely, we're not quite close to getting AMD 6000 other than higher tier laptops
hey jarrod, I watched you lenovo legion 5 upgrade video but today i bought an m.2 ssd and installed it into the laptop but no luck! it's not being recognized by the system although the ssd is fully functioning and it has its led lights on when the system goes on hope you can help me thx
damn nice vid
can do benchmark on non gaming laptop with mx450 , iris xe on some games ? thansk
Are you going to do a full review of the Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3i ?
Yep. Stay tuned 👍 Should be out in the next few weeks. Testing for the full review is ongoing (sneak peek of top secret info from JT Patreon -- thermal testing is already complete. Join us to learn more 😉)
Can i suggest you to test the new Lenovo 5i gen 7 that came out 1 month ago ?
I need help deciding , In my country lenovo ideapad gaming 3 is available in 2 options, One with ryzen 7 6800h , 16gb ddr5 4800 ram and rtx 3050 The other is intel i5 12500h , 16 gb ddr4 3200 and rtx 3050. Both are the same price. I will use it mainly for 3d modelling and solidworks but not gaming intensive. Any suggestions ??
I've got a white 12500h, 8gb, 250gb and it runs very well will upgrade storage and ram later but don't even get any reasons to do so now. Cyberpunk all maxed out 70 fps, dota2 90, valo 120, apex 100, warzone 90, and sorry thats all I play so far. Will try to other heavy aaa titles later. Build quality is insane, screen is awesome also white one is too dam pretty goes really well with a white keeb. There's also a 3060 variant too so check that out. After coming from a potato laptop this was one heck of a leap so if you're looking to save some $ this could be a really good choice.
Ideapad or hp omen 16-B1350TX Which one should i buy .if u have any suggestion please do suggest.. Thank you in advance
This laptop looks very promising! Cant wait for a review. Here's hoping that it'll be available soon
1:16 omg Jarrod ur so smart
Hi, I just found a good deal for Dell g15 5520 i7/3070Ti do you think it's worth it? (Sry for the comment in an unrelated video but I am about to order it 😂) I heard some driver/blue screen issues are they fixed somehow?
@Jarrod's Tech can you include if laptops post bios to external screens if screen is not connected

Thermals ok? After 30 min gaming too hot?
u should test in dlss performers mode bcoz it will give more fps than quality
What tier if 3i include your best laptop 2021 rank list?
Are you going to be looking at this year's (2022) Acer Nitro 5?
Just bought the ideapad 3i, its color white its i5 12500H, rtx 3060 (105wat) 16gb drr4 , 15.3 2k Ips display 165hz. 350nits. 1000Usd.
Hey Jarrod when is the legion 7 slim gaming benchmark coming out?
When I have the laptop. Still don't have a review model yet.
Considering casual Gaming, which is better? Ryzen 5 + RTX 3050 or Ryzen 7 + 1650 ?
I might be missing something but this IdeaPad starts at £1,300 in the UK - not what I would call budget from my point of view :-(
I'm looking at this... And then looking at my MSI with a 3080 8Gb with it's wattage cranked up to 165w via firmware overwriting..... will it last?
We need to see the flow x16 review and benchmarks please
Still waiting on receiving one.
Did you receive the legion 5 pro 6800h 3060?
Would it be a problem to put this laptop on a vertical stand? I have very little desk space.
I would have bought the idea pad but I really want the high resolution screen that the legion 5 pro and 7 have
So I have an older us market version of this laptop... My IdeaPad Gaming 3 has a Ryzen 7, 16gb of ram (dual channel) and a 3050... With about a year in of use, I'm still impressed with its power and the build quality is still confidently strong. Look carefully at the specs and price... For about $800 this is an amazing laptop
hi im just curious can it do 1440 p or 4k? i have a 4 k tv so i m really interested in this laptop
@@gratianbondor593 with it being an RTX 3050, probably not happily. With the max screen resolution being 1080p, I would imagine a comfortable 60 becomes an uncomfortable 30 beyond 1080p...

Will we be seeing any thermal/noise testing for this laptop? It would be nice to see if the cooling improvements advertised by Lenovo actually pay off significantly.
Yes, that will be in the full review.
@@JarrodsTech thanks for the reply! Do you also have any plans to cover the Ryzen versions of the Ideapad Gaming 3 (especially the 6600H, barely seen any reviews of that) and/or the 16-inch version (whenever that comes out)?
This is like Legion 5 Lite😍
I think how great this IdeaPad is comes down to how they price it - I can right now buy a decent budget gaming laptop (Asus Tuf15, Legion 5 from last year, MSI and Gigabyte, etc) with a RTX3060 and Ryzen 5000/Intel 11th gen for less than $1300 CAD (close to $1100 if on sale), so this IdeaPad would have to be under $1000 for it to make sense.
Can you review msi gf75 please
Jarrod, can you please please please tell how much memory is supported in this laptop? I can't find it anywhere. And also if you'd recommend this for someone who wants to do a lot of productivity work using After Effects? I would like to install 32GB RAM into it, the more the better.

Question: Hi Jarrod, have you ever wondered or experimented what would be the result if Nvidia's low tier GPU RTX 3050/3050ti (85W here) runs at 150W as in case of RTX 3080? Is there a way to increase TDP? Would 3050/3050ti handle such power? Asking because acer just launched Aspire 5 in India with RTX 2050, capped at 35W. (30-45W limit)
AFAIK you can't raise the TDP because it's embedded in the VBIOS and if you swap it with another SKU (ex. flashing 3060 BIOS into a 3050) it stops working as other details aren't in common. Only Nvidia theretically could by modifying the VBIOS and signing it again before flashing. At your best you can flash a specific wattage of the same SKU into your laptop, like a 150W 3080 VBIOS into a 80W 3080. Of course VRMs and heat dissipation would probably suffer a lot because they were designed with a lot less heat in mind.
@@TheMacco26 Thanks. If one could increase TDP till it's prescribed limit, more performances can be squizzed out. Imo, RTX 2050 running at 45W would fetch almost 25-30 percent more performances than at 35W in a same laptop, albeit with a cooling pad.
@@TheMacco26 Let's say one does flash a 150 W 3080 VBIOS onto a 80 W 3080, would that even work? Could the motherboard and power brick even supply enough power in the first place?(I think heat dissipation is the least of one's worries in this instance)
You only have to see a 3050 in desktop (which is the full chip, 20 SM), which uses 120 watts, and the more you raise the clock, the more voltage and current increases. All in all, I think the 3080 maxP would be like 70% faster than a 3050@150W. The difference in silicon muscle is massive.
Do you have a full review of this laptop?
Coming soon.
1:52 does anyone know what is the response time for the 120hz models?
