Greg Davies - Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast

Bowl of Cheese
It’s a showdown battle of who is best, Richard or Hugh Jassburn - in book form at least, but Richard is keen to bring back one of his all time favourite guests: the magnificent beast and Master of Tasks that is Greg Davies.
They discuss schoolday soilings, dick-lifters, being related to a ghost, little Alex Horne, the exquisite pain of laughing when you’re not meant to, sex with teddies, the saddest of bachelor meals, the death of two fathers, the devastating surprise of ageing, what it takes to be in your fifties, the weirdest group of celebrities to gather at Buckingham Palace and the wondrous comedy of commitment to joyous stupidity. It’s eye-wateringly funny stuff with two childish old men who should know better.

My mate got me and my better half tickets, but I don't think it was particularly aggressively promoted. I believe Greg knows one of the comedy promoters here in HK and had agreed to stop over on the way back from Australia to do the final showing of YMB. It was literally 200 (I said 300 originally, but looking back it must have been fewer) of us in a tiny dark restaurant with all the dining tables and chair pushed aside, and Greg about 3 metres away from me. Which means comedians will take another hit and be up for even more scrutiny. I wont go into the economy and taxations and the state of the media and all the rest of it. I dont need to, we all know what's coming, but best of luck America.

    • @@shanustheanus oh look it's the fear brigade fear mongering right wing talking points - none of which have come true! Biden's the same as Trump! Nothing's changed, nothing will ever change and there's certainly not been any more "cultural Marxism" that conservatives were fear mongering so much... (Because there's no such thing!)

      @Cozsack@Cozsack2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Cozsack there's no such thing as cultural Marxism? 😂 what? It's definitely a thing. Whether or not we get to see it is up for debate, but its a real concept my dude. As for Biden being the same as Trump and nothing changing? We both know that's not true. They're both inept lying old men that have no business being president, but that's where their similarities end.

      @shanustheanus@shanustheanus2 жыл бұрын
    • @@shanustheanus Yeah exactly, it's a concept and that's it. If anyone can point to where Marx promoted cancel culture then please tell me. If anything what is deemed "cultural marxism" is a product of the free market, it's completely capitalist - companies deciding whether or not to hire or promote or fire people based on that person's standing with the greater populace. Is that not a cultural equivalent of Adam Smith's invisible hand? It's market forces determining people as products and if those products can't sell then they're shelved. "Cultural Marxism" is a phrase that's been created because marxism is a scary word that people misunderstand and you can chuck the label onto anything that is counter-culture to the traditional ideaologue of conservatism. There is no link between Marxism and Cultural Marxism apart from this idea that Marxism is inherently a philosophy of mob mentality where in actuality it's an economic critcism of the exploitation of labour.

I did once take him round on a Marvel film set and introduced him to various actors I know he likes, and afterwards I heard him say to Robert Downey Jr... You know, ive met so many actors now, and Benedict was right, you really are a dull human being and walked off... and I hadnt said anything about Robert to him at any point! and I said to him later, why did you do that? and he said, because he's really dull but I didnt want him to think i was being rude" (i can quote it because my brother recorded it with a transcript, making the point because he did a similar thing to me at a college lecturers thing)

  • Greg Davies is so funny, lots of us love silly, it's the thing I look for in a man, everything else is just extra

  • Why do I laugh so hard I cry Every time Greg Davies tells a story? No one else gets away with so much poo pee and wank kind of humour, but Greg for some reason... does...
