That is a legit groin strike. Its not a drama.
It is, but he used it to quit the fight. He got smashed in the ribs with a knee just 2 seconds earlier that stunned him and almost fell to the ground. He was in agony, but not from a groin knee.

Even if the knee landed straight on the cup, he would not have quit from pain from that strike. He quit from the knee to the ribs a second earlier, and used groin strike as an excuse so not to loose the fight.
