Whether or not your friends knew it was a possible occurrence, their fans will come for you when they get the scent that you may have dissed "THEIR" streamer. Literally, this "my streamer" thing. You can sit here and decide not to do creative content because people might blame you but honestly that's in the same vein as not failing your children because it would hurt their feelings. • Openly breaking and push it to the max is just horrible for everyone else. Rules get tightend, because people openly break laws and there are no actions. So people get worse and worse. The problem lies with the streamers that abuse the system to the max just to see when it's enough. And it could have already been much worse with copyright claims. • lud, honestly your probably at an advantage here. you are having to learn what does and doesn't fly not with the strict copyright rules of KZhead now, so by the time twitch has implemented those rules probably a little different but still strict i imagine) you will have already gotten used to it. hell you might have some tips for twitch streamers lol. id be cool if there was a website or app that streamers could use that would allow you to watch copyright content with ads. it could connect to the stream and process the number of people watching as actual viewers of the copyright content, and maybe take a small percentage out for bots and such. then the ads that play over the vid would pay the copyright content creators the amount they would have payed if that many people had actually watched the vid on there own. maybe code in a system that allows certain ads to only play for streams with smaller viewership so they can have an idea of how much they will be paying rather then suddenly having to pay for 50,000 streams on their ad. this lets the streamers watch what they want and have fun and the original content creators get paid. idk I'm spit ballin here lol wish i knew how to make that happen... it would take a lot of reaching out to companies and stuff. maybe advertise it as a new way to make money for the movies/tv show/ anime creator. you know, make them come to you or whatever. idk

  • I feel like with how big reacting to TV shows was getting, it was inevitable that this situation would happen. Twitch has had copyright issues in the past and streamers getting banned and striked was inevitable. What's worse is that there is no perfect solution that pleases streamers, viewers, AND companies. But Ludwig being blamed for these streamers having action taken against them is just dumb, they put themselves in a risky scenario reacting to these videos, and it was to be expected that sooner or later something was going to happen with it. We saw the same thing play out with the hot tub meta, it was well known and it was something that was eventually something happened to those streamers as well. Ludwig being one of the only people actively calling it out when reacting was getting big might have influenced somewhat, but that seems unlikely. I don't necessarily think that he's all that much bigger than some of these streamers actively reacting. It just seems like he came in right before action was taken that made him the scapegoat for these viewers who want to blame someone for their favorite streamers getting in trouble.

    @dominicfionda@dominicfionda2 жыл бұрын
  • This honestly should’ve happened a lot earlier, they cannot blame Ludwig for what the top streamers on twitch who are always on the front page, with thousands of viewers do. This honestly should take down some of their egos, let’s be honest they really thought they were hiding it well by inverting the show, having dub on and naming it backwards. With the amount of viewers they had watching they should’ve been scared of getting sued, plus if your gonna watch anime, at least do actual anime from some Asian country, (not just japan since there have been some fire Chinese animations recently) like if you were to watch animes from Japan and did the name flipping and shit, no one would’ve been caught, but they were watching master chief, the last air bender, watching American shows on an American website. Like if they watched some random shit from Japan and had an English romanization of the title they could probably watch forever without getting caught I’m definitely surprised toast wasn’t banned first, Naruto is probably the most recognized anime in America

  • For this current issue, I'd say that a lot of twitch streamers watching master chef without adding anything were straight up stealing content. However DMCA was written by boomers in 1998. The internet as we know it didn't even exist back then. People and companies that abuse DMCA should be held legally and financially liable for falsely claiming content that is fair use. Also industries need to realize that having reasonably priced accessible licenses for content creators is a good thing. Most gaming companies (sans Nintendo) are now wise to the fact that content creators are great for publicity and revenue for their products in the long run but other industries still seem ignorant to the fact (ie. tiktok song trends boosting spotify numbers or Toei taking down Totally Not Mark).

It's bad on KZhead, and you're only trying to wave a flag, sound the alarms to your fellow streamers about the reality of the other side of the fence where copyright claiming is big league. So, if they don't appreciate your efforts to warn them, then don't mind it any more than they care to listen and understand. You can't help them all. • I'm so glad you're talking about this and I'm shocked that people on twitch haven't realized this already. When I used to stream casually for friends, I remember someone coming into my chat, saying that I should play music on stream and asking why I wasn't. I told them because I don't have the copyright to any music, and I could see this being a big deal for twitch because how much copyright wasn't respected. And then a couple months later, XQC was banned for playing copyrighted music. And I thought that would've been the moment people realized. But it wasn't. I'm hoping this will be, because there's a lot of really great content creators on twitch, but they're getting lazy and I'm worried that they'll be in for a really rude awakening once big companies fully realize what's happening and take action against them. Also react content has always been weird for me. I've always seen it as copyright infringement because most of it is. When the series finale of gravity falls came out, I wasn't able to watch it, so I watched a reaction channel. The video started with the guy complaing that Disney was wrongfully taking his videos down, but then he just sat there, didn't say a word. About halfway through I forgot I was even watching a reaction channel because I just didn't notice him. The only thing that gave it away was that some words were backwards. Before poki's ban, I saw a lot of people complaing that people like poki would pause too much while reacting, which while it might not be true, to any outside looks like that the viewers are only there to watch the copyrighted material.

  • I remember the game stuff being a big deal for lets players on youtube, since alot of games that were the subject of lets plays were story heavy so watching someone play through the story almost removes the value of buying the game yourself since you're getting 80% of the experience for free watching someone else play through. Game devs weren't super happy about that since sure some might get interest and buy the game themselves to play but alot were watching it all the way through and not looking to pay a cent to the actual game developers cause why pay 60 bucks for a game you saw the entire story for just to 'support' since theres little value to play through what you watched, certainly not a 60 dollar price tag worth, so they were effectively losing them customers. KZheads copyright claim system is extremely abused, pewds had his own original song copy claimed by a group saying they were claiming it on his behalf and he couldn't even dispute it, despite them having no affiliation with the group, mind you its the original song on his own channel, hes just losing the money to some random group for his 100% own creative work. But for twitch moistcritical also made a video on this the streamers are being irresponsible, poking the bear which could have real bad repercussions with it coming in a more extreme form then what was originally planned. Cause it could turn into the death of react andys with youtube or any other video outlet being off the table for stream, which is a reality I don't think most channels can live through since most big streamers fill gaps with youtube react content, now you get to sit there trying to make awkward conversation with chat while you sit in a queue, just chatting streams would fall apart.

  • I feel like there is a very easy solution to this. Well maybe not really easy, but if youtube could just provide a service to "watch with friends" so that you essentially have each individual account counting towards a view and watch time on the video then there shouldnt be any problems. The streamer wouldnt be broadcasting the show that they are watching, rather it would be viewed by multiple people just at a syncd time. One person gets master control and can pause the video for everyone else. Anyone can pause their own video and return to the "live" time when they want. Idk, its kind of like what Michael Reeves wanted for Spotify but for youtube. The entire issue around copyright claims is broadcasting a video to 30,000 people while the creator only gets a single view and watch time for it thus they dont get paid for those people. You could even set it up so that you have to pay a small fee to use the service and people would probably pay for it.

I find that rarely the streamer "adds value" and I as the viewer feel scammed because I support and enable someone who can't be bothered to put in a basic effort despite all the money they make off of that. I find it very ironic that seemingly every streamer always talks about "making great content" and then this is the "meta" Let's be real you're primarily watching avatar and the streamer in the background is in the background

And they know they are breaking the rules but they dont care becuase like you said its easy content for now, but they just continue to make thigns harder for smaller streamers who may not have the money or ability to do some of the things bigger streamers do to get around these rules

And it's the copyrighted content of large media companies who are very protective of their ip, so it's even worse.

  • Music and videos within a video should be a separate data stream. This way you could mute only the music that infringes on copyright or easily replace background music with something else. That obviously doesn't work for the example of irl streams where music is recorded by the same mic the streamer uses to speak into, but it would work for 99% of all streams and youtube videos.

  • What I find interesting is that stuff like this has been around for years already, especially in terms of anime react content. The different is however a lot of the people that do anime react, or even manga content generally cover/censor what they're viewing, meaning the best experience is to still watch it yourself. There's varying degrees of this of course, some people show more, some people show less, but in the end they are making an attempt to cover it. This situation meanwhile is just blatantly showing the show like you're watching it yourself, no need to go get a better experience on the streaming platform its on, its right there. So, one way encourages people to watch the content legally on another platform at the same time to get the best experience, and the other (in the video) doesn't, which I think is the issue.

It gets really heated and the possibilities for a huge shit-show, not only for Twitch streamers, but also for Twitch as a company are absolutely wild. I think people are blissfully unaware of the ramifications of copyright law - and there could be a culling of intense proportions in the coming months if these React Andy's aren't more careful. Appreciate you calling out this lazy content, as well as taking the bullet for the ignorant streamers and their even more ignorant audiences. • 4:50 that's a false equivalence. The main experience of a game is the actual experience of playing it while the actual product of a movie is just the visuals and sound which can be recreated on streaming sites. Playing call of duty is very different from watching someone else do it but watching a TV show/movie on Netflix is more or less the same as watching some overpaid desk jockey watch it with you.

  • Ludwig, do not budge. I believe you are 100% correct in your stance. As a big streamer yourself, you should be even more pushy in case of this whole ordeal. Some streamers are such a bunch of privileged pricks. They believe they can get away with everything. Watching whole movies/series and streaming it online without purchasing the rights to do so is against the law. It violates an another person's rights, the rights owner (usually a company tho), that's even more important. They are stealing from them. If they want to do it, PURCHASE THE RIGHTS to do so, just like the TV channels do. If people were not stealing to begin with, I bet a different solution could've been found, more humane in particular fair use cases. Someone should smack some reason into those empty heads of theirs. This is mostly why I don't watch streamers live, especially on twitch. A bunch of self-serving, usually uneducated pricks with egos inflated by a vast number of fanboys, that rarely seem to notice their flaws and wrongdoings.
