Back then it was 1-1 for germany and sweden, 2-0 mexico, and 0-2 korea, korea already got no chance of qualifying..but they saved mexico who lost by 3-0 with -1 GD otherwise germany would qualify even with 1-0 victory over korea

All of the final matches of any group in the group stage are played at the same time so people can't plan strategies around the other game. This happens in every world cup. Check the schedule if you want to.

You see similar shots to the one at 1:50 in numerous other matches, where the striker hits the ball, then it gets deflected immediately by a defender, looping over the goalkeeper. I'm really surprised that football coaches don't analyse these situations more, so that the technique can be utilised by two players on the same team. I can't see any reason why teams can't practise striking the ball against their teammate so that the ball loops and possibly results in a goal.

He did some serious work. It reminds me of the US when they made it to the world cup and played like utter garbage. Everyone ragged on them for that. Everyone forgot the goalie.... who had broken the record for most blocked shots in a world cup game. The ref was hugely biased. Shame on him. Twice Korea should have been awarded penalty kicks. Both infringement against Korea players who cld have scored. The ref gave yellow card only to Korea. So in the end providence gave justice. Korea scored a goal that was scored cos of Germany foolishness. Korea never gave up trying. Great to see Korea win. (Frm NZ)

Similar to WC22: Germany has a decent team, plays well and creates chances, but can't score because they don't have good strikers. That's a well known characteristic for many teams, especially second rated, just we are not used that exactly Germans have these difficulties, considering their incredible effectiveness in the past, where they often needed one or two chances to decide a match against an opponent who otherwise outplayed them most of the time.

The South Korean goalie played a magnificent game. He kept South Korea in the game and the Germans had many chances but the Germans just didn't put the ball into the back of the net. Eventually a German defender got nutmegged and an open South Korean player put the ball into the back of the net.

I remember watching this game in extreme stress because I am a Mexican and if Korea beat Germany, even if they didn’t get to pass to the next round, Mexico would be allowed to pass. The impact was measurable on the scale of richter (actually by quite a lot). I don't remember all the details, but it is definitly possible and it was with a lot less people than an average football stadium

What a match. I don't think I've ever laughed so much watching a men's World Cup game. Germany could do absolutely nothing right in front of the goal. To this day I still can't decide what happened. You see similar shots to the one at 1:50 in numerous other matches, where the striker hits the ball, then it gets deflected immediately by a defender, looping over the goalkeeper. I'm really surprised that football coaches don't analyse these situations more, so that the technique can be utilised by two players on the same team. I can't see any reason why teams can't practise striking the ball against their teammate so that the ball loops and possibly results in a goal.
What if the ball strikes their team mate between the legs ?!!! You might be forced to play with 10 men if you already have used all your subs !!!

What a match. I don't think I've ever laughed so much watching a men's World Cup game. Germany could do absolutely nothing right in front of the goal. To this day I still can't decide what happened.
