One thing the movie did really well is they made the conclusion of the trilogy into the origin of Tom Spiderman. Now he has no friend, no family, no Stark's tech, just your friendly neighborhood spider man
I thought Homecoming was praised for skipping over the origin story, but now it took them an entire trilogy to kill off Uncle May.

same! every little detail gave it a nostalgic feel. the old/rundown appt like from tobey's universe with the accent of the guy asking for rent, the police radio, the fact that he's a nobody again and has to actually keep his ID a secret, and to top it off-- he made his own suit this time! they nailed the ending IMO and it really set his next 3 movies up well to give him a proper origin story :)

Not trying to sound off beat or coming out as arrogant from this opinion but please hear me out on this one, I think in the future movies they should sort of reinvigorate Peter Parker's character since his happiness, solace and a sense of fulfillment is what actually matters at the end of the day and for all of us. hope they balance out his spider man and Peter parker versions perfectly for him to complete his character arc.
@gorilla5651 Not sure what you have in mind by "reinvigorate" but I think after breaking his character down like they did, it gives them a great opportunity to build his character back up with a fresh story. Move away from the "Ironman's sidekick" dumb kid "oh no what do I do? I'm just a kid" version of the character and take it in the direction of a badass mid 20s Spider-man in his prime. Then maybe add Miles Morales as his apprentice later on like they did with the PS4 Spider-man games.

i hated it, stop mentioning Tony Stark for Disney points in the MCU. Something about the way Peter said "Thank you" @ 2:56 made him finally seem like an adult, finally a man. He said it with quiet confidence, assuredness. He walked in the coffee shop still a bit like a clumsy boy, but left a man, seeing his friends in a better place, even though he is in far lonelier one.
"...even though he is in far lonelier one." As is appropriate for a hero. Hoping Marvel keeps this going for Spidey.
Facts. He knew what was important. After helping save the universe, dying young, resurrected just to see his mentor, Aunt May die. And then lose his friends in the world who remembered him as a hero slip away, to just being Plain Old Peter Parker. He knew he had done the right thing to keep his heart safe. Peter Parker out of the trio of Superman, Batman, and Spiderman is the most relatable
For every 2000s kids, watching the new Tom's Spiderman feels a bit different because of the complexity of the story and it's inclusion with thte whole MCU but this ending made it feel like it is still a Spider-man universe the way how Raimi's Spiderman was. In November 2021, producer Amy Pascal revealed that Sony and Marvel Studios were planning on making at least three more Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, with work on the first of those films getting ready to begin. Marvel Studios and Sony were actively developing the film's story the following month. Writers had begun work on the film in February 2023, with Pascal confirming at the end of May that the film was still in development but that work was put on hold because of the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike that began earlier that month, and that work would resume after the strike concluded. By that time, Holland reiterated that the film was in early stages of development and that he had been involved in meetings about it, which were also put on hold because of the writers' strike." It's listed under the "Future" category as "In development" along with X-Men, Armor Wars, and "Untitled Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel"
Personally love Tom’s Spider-man. The whole trilogy with him built up his connections, His gear from hoodie and mask to high tech suit. His relationships with friends and mentors. i think when peter saw the scar on mj, he realized that if he still keep them by his side. they will be in more danger or can harm them, so he decided not to continue his plan bcoz of the scar i think.
It's a reference to Raimi's Spiderman where, after saving MJ from Doc Ock, Peter tells MJ that he'll always have enemies and he'll always be Spiderman. So he has to step back in order for his SO to not get involved and hurt.
Even if Peter had tried to remind Ned and MJ who he is, it wouldn't have worked anyway. Would you believe a stranger claiming he's your best friend/boyfriend and that you had your memories of him erased by magic? Ned and MJ would have just thought he was a crazy weirdo and ignored him. It was a futile attempt from the beginning since no speech can break the spell
He could have told them personal secrets about themselves only they knew (like that thing about expecting disappointment) which would make them wonder how he knows so much about them (and that he's not just a weirdo). Not sure if that would break the spell though.
False. He absolutely could've. Step 1. Show them you're Spiderman. This proves that there's extraordinary circumstances at play around you, and that you're not some nut. Step 2. Tell them info about them that no one's supposed to know about. Maybe MJ would be mistrusting, concidering that's how she was characterized in this movie, but he 100% could convince Ned, concidering he's a very open minded and geeky person.

As depressing as it sounds, but this is great - Peter on his own, his identity not widely know to about every other person in his movies, having to be the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man again, without the Avenger's or other Super-Teams, while relying on nothing but his skills, his abilities, his own genius, his limited ressources and the guideline of knowing that with great power... well, you know. As much as i loved his interactions with Tony, him being Stark's protege with all of Stark's ressources took away from the, uh, Spidey-Ness of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, which was a shame, because i still think that he's the best live-action Spidey we ever had.
The only thing missing from the classic story is Aunt May. Aunt May was always around, as someone who loved Peter and hated/feared Spider-Man. I know for a lot of people they may not care, but it's something that keeps this version from being completely true to the classic story.

Spider-Man authors trying not to ruin Peters life challenge
@@DrBees-ms2vt Thats a hard challenge.
Peter and MJ despite being soulmates in the comics have had perhaps the roughest romantic relationship in comics. It would take a long essay to detail all the times they get together only for it to be brutally taken again and again.
“Sometimes to do what’s right we need to be steady, and give up the things we want the most, even our Dreams.”
Yeah
This ending bit. There’s lot of fanservice and believe me, I’m a big fan, but it feels like Peter really, truly, and maybe for the first time, chooses altruism over all else. In Homecoming, he wanted to be a bona-fide super hero and wanted the validation and approval of Tony Stark; in Far From Home, he wanted to give up the super hero life or otherwise lower the stakes for himself so he can more easily be Peter Parker; and for majority of No Way Home, he wanted to be a super hero but without either losing nor hurting the people he loved. Say what you will about how necessary Parker’s choice to be alone is, but the symbolism and payoff for his character development is profound and this part of the movie does that the justice it deserves. Sony, if you’re reading this, PLEASE let this mean something. If you turn around and make this crucial part of the movie not matter similarly to how Disney invalidated the end of WandaVision in Multiverse of Madness my heart will be broken

Wandavision's ending was very self-contradictory. Writers tried to walk the line between the pole of making Wanda truly villainous and the pole of her being sympathetic. However, they made her too much a villain, so when they tried to present her as misunderstood in the finale, it was hard to accept and the whole story unraveled. That's why I excuse MoM for scrapping it. Although technically Strange still lets Wanda off the hook, which is out of character.
I’m not exactly sure how that’s going to happen. But I’m convinced that it will.
2:11 - full stop. He came into the shop hoping to rekindle his relationship with MJ, and then his friendship with Ned. When he sees the band-aid all those hopes are whisked away like the breath in a cold shower because he's reminded of how close he came to actually irreversibly losing them both. So at 2:50 he makes a decision and I'll be damned if those aren't tears swelling out of nowhere in Holland's eyes and that's one remarkable bit of acting. Just in case we couldn't tell that being Spider Man is dangerous for those around him, the movie hammers us over the head with it. To be fair, Toby Maguire's Spider-Man did the same thing in the movie, and he did eventually have a happy ending, so here's to hoping.
I like this ending, it's like he is finally his own man with his own costume now. It's like the guidance from the other spidermen gave him the courage to be his own man and move on. The best part of this entire scene are the little moments most people miss but subconsciously know! It’s not what’s being said, it’s what isn’t being said. The excitement Peter feels when Ned walks in the room, the love he still has for MJ, the way she looks at him like she’s falling in love with him all over again…and the heartbreak Peter feels when he tries to keep his promise to her, but realizes that he might ruin their lives again if he does. You can tell he just wants to run into their arms and tell them everything that happened, make everything normal again. But he can’t. That would be selfish, and everything that happened prior to this would’ve been for nothing. Even though it’s Christmas, what's supposed to be the happiest time of the year, Peter just has to accept it and stay alone because he loves them more than his selfishness wants them back. He wants to mourn with Happy, but he can’t say anything. He can’t talk about Aunt May and Tony Stark to the one friend he had who would understand his loss. All he can do is make a new suit, go out into the cold, and do what he does best…putting everyone before himself! That's why he's the superhero of superheroes!

Peter putting on the new suit reminds me of blonde Peter Parker from into the spider verse where he say “I always get back up”. This shows that Spider-Man is a true hero and one of the best superheroes of all time. Hopefully we’ll get to see him again soon.
I like the aspect that they did with this scene showing Peter dint say because he dint want mj or his best friend to get hurt again so thats why he dint try to make them remember
I feel like Peter will be going through the same thing Thor went through during Infinity War and Endgame. He lost everything but with Peter, it's definitely more heartbreaking as he sees the people he holds dear close to him. And yet to them, he is just a stranger.
most depressing ending ever
The coffee shop scene was my favorite part in the movie. It’s heartbreaking.
i love how Peter finally also learn the true words from Tony, the suit didn't truely made him, but he made the suit, and in the end he did
the ending is probably my fav part of the film. it looks like a completely different movie, i hope they do the next movie in the same manner
Having 2 best friends (one being an ex) still alive but no longer in your life sucks. I felt this last scene more than I thought I ever would. I miss them a lot....Maybe one day we'll bump into each other again. I just hope they'll recognize me 🥹
Even he doesn’t deserve this. No one should have to go through all of this alone. I would have rewritten it so that only a select few would still remember who he is. Including: • MJ • Ned • Happy • The Other Marvel Heroes & • Aunt May (despite her death)
They couldn't have made this movie any better if they tried. It was pure nostalgia for all of us who grew up with Tobey's Spider-Man and Andrew's. And now we finally see Tom's come full circle and become the Spider-Man he was always destined to be. Hands down the best Marvel to come out in a very long time, and future Marvel movies will have a tough time topping it.
I hope they continue this time line, it has soooo much potential!
This movie literally made Tom Holland Spiderman the most interesting spiderman its so amazing
When he saw the injury 😢, he understood he being with em represents pain for em. Very well made scene.
I grew up spiderman I love Spiderman he been my favorite superhero for years
You know, at first, I thought the ending was a bit of a middle finger to the audience. We were emotionally invested in Peter, and wanted him to have a glimmer of happiness in the end, considering his journey. But looking back on it, this ending was well done. I am just HOPING they do something, in the upcoming series, that to reward both him and the audience. The ever selfless, heroic, Peter Parker. Spiderman😭😭😭
That Coffee Cup bears the message 'We are happy to serve you' with the symbol of three cups, which unmistakably suggests that the trio will return very soon. It's delightful to witness Tom Holland's growth in this manner. I hope to see more of Andrew and Tobey in the future.
Yeah they gonna be probably remember him again
they were in Across The Spider-Verse, but Andrew was a hologram and Tobey was shown on the Web of Life and Destiny
And even NWH script writers themselves said that the spell didn't altered the memories of Peter-2 and Peter-3 and they still remember Peter-1, so expect a upcoming reunion in Beyond The Spider-Verse or in Secret Wars!
@@KingOfTheClownsThey both were.
I'm sure that the next Spiderman with Tom Holland I think that MJ, ned, and happy will somehow get their memories back and everything
At the end, he turns to a Toby-ish Spiderman version. He rents the apartment similar to his, most of things don't work. He makes a FULL suit alone for the first time, he has a radio with crime news and he didn't tell MJ what he wanted. Oh, and he has his Spiderman final end scene swing.
I like to look back at homecoming and say Peter really had it all he was like the kid in the candy store now just he a small town boi in a big arcade well done 🫡
You already know she went back to ned being like that dude was fucking weird
It's over for Ned.
killed me when Happy hit him with the "how'd ya know her"? instead of "You ok Pete?" My man is all alone.
4:55 “Keep it going” “Just keep going”
Tom’s the best Spider-man🐐
I love how Peter comes to the realization that he has to let them go for their sake... The spirit of a true hero is the decision to make the necessary sacrifices for the greater good
“The Needs of the Many outweigh the Needs of the Few, or the One.”
Peter really does care about his friends, he understands that as long as he's Spider Man, the best thing he can do for them is to leave them alone and let them enjoy their new lives.
The "We are happy to serve you" on the cup really hits different when you think about whats going on in peter's head in this moment, his friends are in a better place now and he is showing his appreciation for them (and all the sacrafices they made before for him happily) by sacraficing his own wants here, which if he would've accepted this reality when doctor strange casted the spell initially Aunt May wouldnt of been killed by Green Goblin (even tho we know there is always a defining loss for spiderman)
If you love them and want them to be safe then you have to let them go.
This is so close to how you feel reading a good spidey story it's crazy, the feels!!!
It hurts just to watch this scene all over again…..
3:10 MJ in her mind: this guy looks exactly the same as the one using spiderman suit on the pictures that appeared magically on my phone..
In the comics the Hulk still knows he's Spider man because when Dr Strange cast the spell he was Bruce Banner. When he changes back to the Hulk he was unaffected by the spell
