  • My mom has epilepsy for almost 10 years now and she's a housewife, she can't go out by her own and having seizures in public is so hard, even while showering someone should stay close to her, and I find it really hard for her, but seeing young kids who still have so much to do in their lives struggling with this, is really heartbreaking. May ALLAH heal everyone

  • I was getting ready for my first day of freshman year and my sister was getting ready for here day as well she just started 11th grade and we were both in the bathroom I was doing my makeup and she was flat ironing her hair. all of a sudden I looked up. She dropped the flat iron and she fell but I caught her by her arms. I called out for help but no one would come. and when they decided to come they let out this sound like they were annoyed like "UGGGGGK REALLY" then they saw. And this was her first seizure out of many that year. Now whenever she has a seizure I get this feeling and I go to her 20 seconds before the seizure. does anyone have tips for me to keep her from biting her tounge? She does that 3 or 4 times during a seizure. And my baby sister has absence seizures I need information about that to

  • A seizure occurs when the nervous system fires charges rapidly, and a charge is misfired. Before a seizure: Auras such as a weird taste or smell, unstableness, weakness, dizziness, numbness followed, tingling, sudden anxiety. Symptoms: Stiffness, convulsing, foaming at the mouth, vomiting, bleeding (if victim bites tongue during the seizure), staring, losing partial or complete consciousness, trouble breathing, lopss of bowel or bladder control, and/or awareness. Side effects: Drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, panicky, temporary loss of memory. How to treat seizures: 1. Time the seizure. If the seizure last 5 minutes or longer and/or multiple seizures occur, call for medical attention. 2. Place a soft object under their head or lift it and tilt it upwards to prevent head or brain injury. 3. Unless in a significant possibility of being injured, DO NOT move the patient. 4. Turn the victim on their side to clear out airways to prevent loss or shortness of breath. 5. DO NOT place a spoon or any object into the victim's mouth. Although it is a highly concepted rumor that a victim can swallow their tongue, it is impossible to. In fact, that will cause more damage because the victim could break their teeth if they bite on the object. 6. When the seizure is over, talk calmly to the patient to prevent startling them. A cause of a seizure could be from TBI brain injury, overheating, flashing or bright lights, etc. Hope this helps, (PS I am 14, and not a doctor yet, I just love learning about neurology)

  • Now I know what to do when my younger cousin Julie has a seizure or is convulsing one time I saw her convulsed half to death and I suddenly called (911) the emergency department and explain what is happening to her and she can get the help she needs and My mom and my aunt and uncle would meet up with her in a hospital room and yet she got an EEG test done to get tested for epilepsy and the results came out positive and she was epileptic and can get very sick.
