The whole presentation and casual feel of each video has been just a pleasure to watch. EDIT: Oh wow. Thanks for all the likes...I think this is most I've ever gotten for a comment, but it is sincere admiration. Shannon and UT are among the best and most complete hockey youtubers on the platform.

    @JarradBruessel32@JarradBruessel323 жыл бұрын

  • One of the many things that separates his channel from others is the lack of negativity while others will dedicate a myriad of episodes on who and what teams "suck" in the ever so tired list format. Also many of the opinions are immature and premature and there is rarely an episode that these channels upload to rectify past judgements.

    @briangreen1781@briangreen17813 жыл бұрын
    • Also: No completely Hot Takes, without commitment. There are so many channels where the general structure of every argument is: "This gut is an absolute bust and should be allowed near a rink. I'm not saying that he might never become a great player, but his numbers are slightly below what was expected from him". If you have an opinion you believe in, stick up for it. If you already know it's blown way out of proportion, just don't blow it out of proportion. Shannon understands that, but it is surprising how many other channels don't.

      @beckobert@beckobert3 жыл бұрын
  • I want to add to your point that players don't suck: You always have to keep in mind that they are competing against other pro players. If a turnover happens it often happens because another player was just doing his job extremely well.

    • This. People only see these guys compared to other elite players. In Columbus, you see guys like Jody Shelly or Jared Boll around the ice rinks now and then if you are there enough. Whenever he actually laces up, he makes literally everyone look like school children, despite being a "low skill goon" who's been retired for a while. Up close, it's unreal how skilled even the "lowliest" guys in the NHL truly are.

Jerseys are expensive and if you only have one, where is it more apropos to wear than a hockey game?? To that point, I've started wearing my Crosby jersey when I'm out and about. So far, I only wear my Stars jersey to games, but I go to enough of them that I've gotten my money's worth out of it. • My first thought when you said, “NHL players don’t suck” was yeah, I’ve come around on that too. Aren’t I awesome. But, really I think you are the reason that’s happened. So, thank you 🙏 please just keep doing what you’re doing.

  • The biggest thing for me was learning that a lot of what makes a team successful never shows up on the stat sheet. Vegas' first season is the perfect example of this. Nobody thought they would do anything with the roster they drafted but they made the Final. Yes, part of it was because they had fantastic pro scouting to find diamonds in the rough, but the biggest thing was the feeling everyone in that locker rook had that they had something to prove. That isn't a number you can quantify, but it was so important for that team. You need to find the right mix of guys and the right attitudes to win just as much as you do raw stats. Numbers alone will never win you a championship.

  • The “NHL players don’t suck” opinion reminds me of a line from Norm MacDonald’s old sitcom from about 20 years ago. His character was a former NHL player, but he was infamous for being the “agony of defeat” guy. Another character once told him he sucked at hockey, but Norm replied with something like, “Let me be clear. I’m EXCELLENT at hockey. It’s just that compared to other NHL players, it seems like I suck.”

  • One of the biggest things that changed for me over the last decade is simply appreciating talents no matter what jersey it wears. Obviously I still have my preferred hierarchy of teams and enjoy watching their rivals lose accordingly but there's players I just really enjoy watching from every single team where I might have hated them based on something as silly as a logo in the past...

  • great channel thg... just gotta say, i cant agree with jersey opinion #3. as i was watching this video (myself an nhl fan of 35 yrs, 46 today [my birthday actually also, lol]) i kept pondering the orca ronning jersey, and as someone who also watched him play in the skate/canucks jersey in the 90's;.... i wouldnt say the jersey is wrong (per se, as it were, loll)...but it definitely aint right either ;))) preciate the vids man. keep doing your thing.

  • I too stuck with blanks until I caved on a Point jersey when they had a fire sale thinking the Lightning wouldn't re-sign him. I knew we would. BUT I think we can all agree that putting your own name on a jersey places you into one of Dante's circles of hell.

  • I remember one summer when I was a teenager and my family and I went to stay with my aunt in Reno Nevada for a few days. I wore my blank Anaheim Mighty Ducks jersey one day and a couple of young kids asked me if I was a hockey player. I hated having to tell them no, but it just funny and sweet what those kids thought of me in that jersey.
