PSG has had a bunch of great players but never had a team. That is the main difference with teams like Real, Bayern or BVB, who are all member owned (majority shares). May be a coach of Luis Enrique's calibre could eventually change that, if he has less interference from the oil prince.

MBappe has always wanted to go to RM and in 2021 when he had a year left on his contract RM offered the Qatari owners of PSG $200M (remember now?). Al-Khaleifi turned it down saying he was not selling at any cost (MBappe had asked to leave). He then embarked on a personal feud with Perez and RM then did not wanted to negotiate (or reward ) them anymore. Later he wanted RM to make an offer but we kept our stance. So - PSG doesn't get to recoup any money because of their dumb behaviour. BTW - we kept that $200M and invested it in Bellingham and Tchouameni and the joining bonus for MBappe himself. Make sense?
