Florida Highway Patrol officials hold a news conference to discuss the death of a 26-year-old trooper who was killed while trying to detain a fleeing felon on Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County.
So an innocent truck driver lost his life, died in the line of duty and didnt choose to be in a high speed chase and barely a mention.
Exactly, no news is mentioning the truck driver at all.

@@SandyOhNo The fleeing criminal didn’t pull a u-turn in front of the trucker, the trooper did. That is a fact. Additionally, there will be no press conference honoring the truck driver, nor will there be a huge funeral procession with every LEO in the state with their lights on. They won’t go on and on about what a hero the truck driver was. They WILL do those things for the person that caused the death and destruction. Those are facts, not rhetoric.

I'm a former LEO, as a law enforcement officer you need to make a decision when the danger to the public outweighs the need to continue pursuit. If Fink did in fact drive into oncoming traffic to continue pursuit, that was a fatal error. Police go through Emergency Vehicle Operation and Control training to prevent things like this from occurring but the training is pointless if we don't follow the principles of it.
I thought we put a stop to pursuing cars at high speeds for this very reason - the danger is just not worth it.

So if he thought about the saftey of others on the highway, he would NOT have made a U-turn into oncoming traffic, thus saving his life and not being responsible for killing an innocent traveler. How many more innocent victims have to die before rules of engagement of chase are revised ? Was this chase detrimental to the safety of the community ? Was the suspect wanted for murder ?

Say for instance, a truck driver decides to pull a U-turn into oncoming traffic. While making this maneuver, he pulled in front of the trooper resulting in the death of the trooper. Would you call that truck driver a damn hero? No, you wouldn’t(well I wouldn’t anyway, you might). We’ll that’s what these people did.

I Painted the Big K Mart in West Port Saint Lucy, I went down town several Nights , its a beautiful old city, as a Vet I liked hanging out with the Navy Seals, This is Very SAD, VERy SAD, Event for Truck Driver and Family, and the TROOPER and FAMILY
As a front line worker in child welfare I thank you all for your service trying to help make this world a better place. Very few know the exhausting long hours, emotional stress and family struggles it cost.
