What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

Spot on mate and great job ... Really appreciative of the long vids - i'm guessing it probs takes hours to do but well worth it lol I particularly laughed at the 10 press ups you managed to throw in for a balanced work out ... Ever thought about adding a join button so a few of us can throw a little bit of financial appreciation your way for these?
Thanks 👍. It's funny, I always do a little workout on these cold(er) mornings. YES! I just added the "THANK YOU" feature on the videos. That would be greatly appreciated. 🙏
This is a guy that takes pride in his work great job
Thank you
I'm a, believe it or not, 58 yr. old, retired alternative rock guitar player. It's 8 a.m. I'm having some coffee and watching this kid. My life is EPIC !!
You're doing it right Quentin. Welcome aboard brother ✌️
Thats much appreciated Quentin. Thanks for supporting the channel.
To me, it's relaxing watching this...
It is incredible that in the USA you can work whatever you want, in my country this job literally doesn't exist, nice job and good luck!
Sorry, but don’t come here, stay where you are……
Unless you live in a really poor and undeveloped country, it definitely exists! It may have a different name or use different products, but pavement sealing services exist everywhere. You may not know about it, because depending on the country, it isn't as requested as some other places. My country has tropical weather, so it's not as necessary as in a country where it is really hot in the summer or snows in the winter.
@@wayneguy6043why don't you Leave?
Great that your weather is permitting you to sealcoat again😊👍🏼 You do a great job and I find it mesmerising to watch you sealing. Thanks for sharing what you do and I look forward to your next project🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕👍🏼🇦🇺
that's awesome. Thanks Sharlene.
Your a magician with that stuff !! Thanks for the video!
You got a new hose on the reel!!
150 feet 🦶
The BEST to EVER do it!!
✌️
I've watched so many videos and I don't think anyone else does the job as well as you do.
Thank you. I really do feel like we've cracked the code on how to perfect these residential jobs. We get a ton of haters though. It comes with the territory I guess.
Relaxing, satisfying and I love your boots haha
Love it, so satisfying to watch and again love when you go through that puddle and the sound of it lol so satisfying 👏🏽 btw that house is beautiful and the yard psh nobody around, dope!
You are amazing! I can’t believe how perfectly you do the edges.
Thanks Jen 😎
Awesome bro. Always love watching you. This was a nice size job to run solo. ❤️👏🏻
Big thanks.
I've only now noticed your logo. That is awesome! 😂😎👌
Glad you like it!
cool stuff 💪 greetings from 🇨🇭
Thanks. I have a friend from Basil. He’s a great guy.
Woohoo - nice to see you again, and I'm SO happy you're also sharing the longer, real time versions. This may sound goofy, but I haven't seen your first name anywhere - what is it, please? It feels weird to just think of you as the sealcoat guy. 😄
Gregory Francis
Do you prefer Gregory or Greg?
Gregory
watching this is addicting, guys! You do great work!
Thanks Jacqueline!
Another beautiful driveway
Thanks, David.
Great job😎
Perfection!
Hey Karen. Thanks for watching!
يبدو عمل مجهد ودقه في العمل احسنتم👍
Great to see you back for another season. Was this this first driveway you sealed of the year?
Yes.
like long video.. love music in between.. thanks.. 🙂
Hey now he’s back.
Thanks for all the videos! Any way you could give some pointers on the driveways you've had to pressure wash? Thanks again!
How do you mean?
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Just how you go about pressure washing asphalt. I've heard many people say you can blow holes in the asphalt with just a homeowner pressure washer. Thanks!
Good viewing content would watch again with music. Good workout regimen you got as well… also does the sealant really make the gloppy noise?

Ficou maravilhoso 👏👏👏🇧🇷
🐣
16:27 My heart stopped for a moment, I was so scared that the dog would run in the driveway and ruin everything he had done so far... If it was the case, I wouldn't fix it, or at least I would charge extra.
Hey,great job you did by your one, wher is your partner ?? i like the longer videos !! thanks for showing, see you in the next one.....
On Sundays, I usually go out to film by myself.
Really enjoying the videos!, How much do you make on an Average job?
Make of charge?
In one of your shorts I’d heard you mention a getting started guide that went over all the tools and skills needed to get started. Is that still available or did I make that up in my head? Lol
Yes. Check the ABOUT part of our page.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE yeah sorry I asked this on another video too. 😅 I found it shortly after posting this. Much appreciated. 👍🏻
Are you using a brush or squeegee? What's the difference? Is that 3 ft or 4ft? Great precision work!!!
Thank you. We’re using 4 foot brushes.
Hey Greg, did you change product ? Use to have the classic brown color and now it's jet black
The brown turns jet black when dry
We had a blacktop drive put in 2 years ago two time the length of this one it's a circle drive we are thinking we should do this to ours now
Wow. Thats pretty big. Where are you located?
We bought a house a few years ago and the driveway had never been sealed so I had it done...but it was sprayed. I realize the first seal coat can be tricky and overall the coverage turned out fine, but I feel it was not their best effort. I cannot seem to find anyone in my area that will spread it like y'all do, so I think I will do it myself. Could you steer me in the right direction as to what is the best kind of seal coat product to purchase at a big box store? TIA
where are you located?
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE In SW Virginia.
@@billieo5376 email me: sealcoatingislife@gmail.com
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Will do. Thanks!
Can you tell us how long it took you to do this job from beginning to end and what you charge these people for this length of a job? How many square feet or square yards was this job? How much did it cost you for your truck and your tank set up? Was it new or used? Thanks for the vids. I'm thinking about getting into sealcoating.
This job took me a little over 3 hours. But that’s with setting up cameras, changing batteries, setting up the drone. My partner and I could have done this in under an hour.
Just curious...what kind of solution is in that bin from which you pulled the brush at the beginning of the video?
2 parts Hydrogen, 1 part Oxygen.
@@c.michael9649 hehe! 😉👍
just water.
Do you guys use hot tar for seal coating . What’s is your preferred product to lay down
We use hot tar for commercial work. Almost always cold patch for residential.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE does the cold patch hold up comparably to the tar? Just curious about the process thanks for getting back to me as well
I’m curious… if the sky opened up would it ruin the seal oat? How long does it take to dry enough before your work is safe from rain? BTW love the push ups 😂
Yes. It would be ruined. We would have to come out and pressure wash all or the garage doors and sidewalks too.
Do you use coal tar sealer or asphalt emulsion?
AE
👍👍👍👍👍
👏👏👏💪✌👍
@21:42 lol
What sealer do you guys use?
AE
Is this countryside? The neighbourhood looks… peaceful… may I know where this is? Thank you
Hi, I don’t do prices or locations on these videos. I can only say that we’re in southeastern Pennsylvania.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Good enough for me, thank you so much!
What product do you use and do you add additives?
AE with water and sand. That’s all.
Серый асфальт симпатичнее чем черная дорога в АД)))
Also do you use sand as an additive?
Yes. Lots of sand.
Are you using a squeegee or a broom?
4 foot brush
Assuming nothing really crazy about a driveway, how much is it per sq ft to sealcoat a driveway? Is it an oil or water based coating? How long can you expect each type to last?
It depends on where you live.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE hoping northern Tennessee around Dale Hollow Lake someday. Trying to get numbers going in my head regarding concrete or asphalt driveway.
It really depends on the company. Most, (if not all) sealcoating companies give FREE estimates. I would just go by what you fee comfortable with paying, who gives you the best “vibe” or, what ever company has the best reviews online.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE thanks for your time and videos.
@@dang6832 no problem ✌🏻
Any reason why you horizontally invert the footage?
Yes
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Greatest answer you could have possibly given to that [stupid] question. Well played ✌️
How do you get so many residential clients? Do you run Facebook video ads ?
Fb adds, flyers, word of mouth etc…
Your pushing and not pulling. How do you get rid of footprints?
Smoothing them out as we go.
Is asphalt emulsion or tar?
AE
Могу я узнать чем вы покрываете и где можно приобрести это
Hey brother what product are you using?
AE now.
So I'm just wondering... And I don't want to know exactly what YOU were paid for this drive. But what's the ballpark price for a drive like this? Asking for a friend, of course.
its around $0.25 per square foot.
😂😂😂 21:47
👍🇺🇦
Why your truck makes noise the whole time even the engine was not started nor that seal coating pipe.
It’s the air compressor to power the pump and agitate the material.
Dont worry about vid's if they are too long folks can watch something else
💯
That's one heck of a LONNNNG driveway
yes it was
Nice house crappy location under flight path for landing
?
Why do you walk thru the sealer
Because it's fun
Nice job tho. Damn the prep work lol that's all they pay us for.
My customers wouldn't pay if I got it all over everything like that lol
Slide a piece of 1/4 wall square tube down your handle for weight and pull it. That away you won't have to go over it so many times to get that extra product spread over.
I do my edges 1st with a small brush with bristles that are so flimsy you could shake them to fall over. That away it doesn't sling. And I don't have to jack around with a 4' brush for 6 hours cutting in the edges.
I don't like watching when you're looking down makes me dizzy. Sorry can't watch anymore
Boo hoo
