I've had broken heart syndrome namely cardiomyopathy where the left ventricle weakens due to experiencing emotional sorrow or stress. It's what killed Debbie Reynolds when she learned her daughter had died. It often happens when one spouse dies and not long after the other goes too.

It's long since been exposed what "free range" actually means - it's a marketing slogan, an empty gesture, nothing else. The only way to truly avoid contributing to this cruelty is to stop paying for animals to be bred for our consumption. Organic "grass fed" cows etc. still get sent to the same slaughterhouses. Just be vegan and know your actions are aligned with your values.

How is the title misleading? Please look into how Russian foxes were tamed. They literally only allowed those who showed no aggression to reproduce, creating within about seven generations entirely tame, dog-like foxes. That's the point. We have always selected those animals who won't resist us, those whose insting to love a parent or sibling extends to us. Then, many of us use that instinct for them to love us as a weakness, allowing us to use and/or kill them. We are a horrific species in that way. Please, don't take my word for it. Look it up.

The Russian foxes example is a perfect example of humans making animals helpless or, at least more vulnerable to exploitation. It doesn't matter how we've done it whether by selective breeding, mutilation, confinement etc, we HAVE made animals helpless on purpose.
I also believe we are doing the same thing to ourselves, selecting for more loving, and hence, "tame" people, although to see some mass gatherings turn into riots, that hypothesis sure gets a hard test. Our species' intelligence is also being tested with each new disease, removing not merely the weaker people, but overlapping with the less intelligent, those among them with resisting authority, believing all opinions, even the uninformed, are equal. I don't know whether to call our evolution Natural or Artificial Selection. It's our thoughts that are both causing the selection to occur, affecting risk-taking behaviour, and we are left with fewer people thinking the most risky way.
