    • They should never be trained like this what a bunch of clowns these dogs will protect the ones they love naturally but they will not protect your tv if your not home, and that dog is not a good example of the breed a real Stafford trained to attack people is a no no. man bitters are culled out of this breed for a reason because they are bred to kill on instinct not instructions and they will not just bite your arm they will go for anything including your face

  • A Staffy is the last dog in the world that I would use for personal protection. Look at the tail for example? I've had the breed for 30 years and they love people too much. You're better off training yourself to protect your Staffy!

    • All of this depends on the owner and the dogs training. From the moment I got my staff he was trained around children till he submitted to them. Now kids can interact with him and he loves it. Yes, he is a natural predator but again with traing he learns with each species not to touch. We can have the guinea pigs out without any issues. I will admit it was a bit harder socializing him compared to other breeds but with a lot of work he just ignores other dogs to chase birds or plays with dogs he likes. The staffies biggest strength and flaw is they live for people

    • Yup. I have a rescue staffy. She makes a lot of noise when people come to the door and many are scared but she just wants to love,lick,snuggle and cuddle with them. I used to have a Dachshund. He was a terror. Much more aggressive. Would chase joggers as he saw them as Prey.

    • My Staffie (Snoop) has never been trained to be aggressive to other dogs, but some dogs just don't like other dogs (like some humans don't like other humans) I find when my dog (that hasn't been neutered) meets another dog that hasn't been neutered then they both raise their hackles (too much testosterone going around) this is why he is always on his lead whilst out on his walk. My dog is good as gold around people, children, babies hence the nickname of nanny dog.

    • .... You must have a soft hearted staffie. I am getting my 1st within a couple of months, and I had a pedigree PBT terrier who WAS wonderful and very protective of our children, who were young at the time, and the entire family. Id train her to be aggressive, for she was NATURALLY protective and I will train my staffie accordingly, and get a feel of her personality. again, it is the OWNER who usually dictates the dogs character and temperament by the way the dog is TREATED and CARED for. (ANY breed) 🖤🐶

  • 😜 he is playing, my Staffy does exactly that every day when the post man comes. When I open the door he tries to lick him. But if a Staffy is serious the tail would be up and he would very quietly growl and not move around that much. Happened when I took my Spike to the park in the evening one day, 3 men, one with a baseball bats crossed my path. I did not notice at first but my dog did. Lucky for me they were somewhat frightened of my dog and my car was just there.

  • I rescued a Staffy mix and lived at our home alone for 4 months while my husband was away and had no men in our home until my brother in law and Nieces husband brought over some items to store while they were moving. The day they showed up I was out with her in the yard and they got out of their truck and she immediately rushed them and I had to stop her. Then when my husband came home from being away at work she didn't like him either and took time to warm up to him and well. She is protective of our home when people come over so we kennel her or put her in a bedroom. Our Labs are very protective as well and what most people dont know is that Labs are guard dogs as well, but become friendly after knowing the people coming in are not intruders. As for our Staffy mix it's nice to know she is protective and also very gentle with our small Grandchildren and Grandnephews. She is an all around good dog.

      @lackofdubs5975@lackofdubs59753 жыл бұрын
    • Ted Winchurch Staffs are not perfect for this. Just because they are powerful looking little dogs, it doesn’t mean they are suitable for this type of work. It is not in a staffs natural behaviour to be territorial or wary of strangers, most staffys would just want to lick an intruder to death. They really aren’t human aggressive at all. And whilst they do have some intimidation factor, if it did come to it, they would be to small to stop a fully grown man in a 1v1 situation. Dobermans, German Shepherds and many other actual guard dog breeds are better alternatives to a staffy if it’s a guard dog you are looking for. If you’re after a family dog though, staffys are amazing, and one of the best breeds you can get.

    • Ted Winchurch well staffys get such an unfair reputation. That I just don’t agree with encouraging them to show aggression. I have 3 dogs, and one of those is a staffy, and she is as friendly as they come with everyone. So I just don’t see the need to try and turn her into something she isn’t. If you want an attack dog, get something that was bred to do that, like a Doberman. Staffys have never been a guard dog breed, and shouldn’t be used as one IMO.

      @MANUTD4LIFE171@MANUTD4LIFE1713 жыл бұрын
    • @@MANUTD4LIFE171 your opinion doesnt change facts though. They are fantastic guard dogs. Just because you don't like it or think they get a bad rep, doesn't change those facts. There will be things in life I dont agree with, but I can't change it. Also when you train a dog for defense, it doesnt become some killing machine.. im not training them to stand on the street corner with a load of chaos to guard a corner shop.. the dogs in training are perfect around other pets and families, but can switch on when needed. Any dog can be dog to defend in someway or another, and the reason Staffordshires dont get chosen often is because they are short. I know what you mean with the reputation they get, but thats cause because of bad breeders or idiots who can't handle them

  • I'm sorry but that Staffy isn't protecting anything, it's just playing, I have a 1.5 year old girl that I got when she was 8 wks old and she is the opposite of the dog in the video. If she hears a car door close outside she barks, if she hears voices of people walking past the house she barks and every time someone knocks on the door she flips her lid and goes off her head. I had workmen putting down some artificial grass in my back garden and I told one of them to knock on the back door if they needed me, well one of them opened the back door and shouted to get my attention and my girl went full send at him, she didn't attack him but she scared the living daylights out of him and me as I have never seen her be like that with anyone before.

  • Staffys do not make good guard dogs. Yeah they are strong brave little dogs, but they aren’t really big enough to deal with a fully grown man in a 1v1 situation. Plus they aren’t naturally a guarding breed, they aren’t territorial or wary of strangers like other breeds are. Staffys are friendly family dogs who are usually very welcoming to strangers. So most intruders would be welcomed into the house by a staffy. If you want an actual guard dog, then Dobermans or German Shepherds are what you need.

  • Would like to see him in a real situation. This was play time for him. His tail was wagging and his bark was playful. If the dog meant business the tail would either be up or strait out and the bark would be constant and kind of manic as to mean business. I think its good to train dogs so they listen to their master, but this was not a true situation for him to prove that the training is working.

  • If a cat, or some critter tried to break in to my house my staff will deal a quick death to said intruder. Soon as the sun goes down he's on guard any noise he's checking it out.. Turns out a human breaks in; dammit he made friends.

The dog in the video is happy to be playing a game if you want a guard dog get a Kangal or a Ovcharka I can guarantee you could leave your doors and windows open and nobody would go near your house....

You’re asking for trouble! Previously I had a Amstaff 25 years ago and he was 2 years old and was 35 kilos when I got him. My ex bought him for me and she said the dickhead sqauddie owner had a lighter on his nose, torturing him! So, when I had him he was a nightmare. A pure scary nutter! A Rockweiler went for him one day and literally in 10 seconds pinned the rockweiler by the throat to the floor.
