I've been revisiting all the arcs since the release of WOTFI 2023, and man, this was by far the best one story wise. It's incredible to see how far you have come as a team SMG4. Massive props to you guys.

Dude. I watched this for the first time just now and up until now I’ve known that Axol ended up dying from this wotfi. But watching the entire scene between him and Melony broke me. Especially after “oh by the way, wheres Axol”. I love the glitch productions team because everything they do is always the best quality. I never thought in a million years, that a channel about a stupid group of friends going on adventures could play with my heartstrings the way that this video did. Thank you guys for always putting in 150% in everything that you do.

To be honest this was a reasonable/respectable death for Axol, he risked his life to save his friends. Through out all the years Axol came to the smg4 series we saw him save anime and become more mature with the coming of melony. What if Melony saves Axol from SMG0's control instead of killing him?
I'm gonna be completely honest: I feel kinda like an asshole. I fell out of watching SMG4 around 2017, and only just recently decided to come back to discover he's made five incredible arcs and his own animation studio. I haven't cried like this since Xenoblade Chronicles or Katawa Shoujo. I binged all five arcs over a weekend, and felt like I came out a changed person, as strange as that sounds. I watched SMG4 originally in 2013, and knowing that he's been around for ten years now makes me remember all that I loved about this channel in the first place, while still loving what its evolved into over the years. I will always remember this channel as a huge part of my childhood, and I'll now experience it as the art form it deserves to be recognized as. Channels like SMG4 and Chuggaaconroy essentially raised me growing up, and I'll always credit them as the biggest influence to who I am today. So thank you, Luke and Kevin... and everyone else who worked on this series. I wouldn't be the person I am today without you.

I’ll be honest, I’m more of a classic smg4 fan, mostly anything before 2016 and don’t watch all his videos, but every time an arc is being made it makes me come back everyday to catch up on what happened, him and the team do such an amazing job with these. Proud of how big this meme machine has become and proud of all the projects he’s made. They’re doing an amazing job💯

Honestly I haven't been a fan of his newer videos but damn this arc went in a different direction. The rap battle (more like anime intro) sounded really epic and earns its place on my 2nd favorite rap song of WOTFI. Interesting story development, also one of my favorite arcs. I hope that after this, SMG4 can relax and work on the more silly videos again or maybe expand on lore.

Honestly my favorite part of this entire arc is SMG3's character, he's gone from antagonist/villain and now he's more of a rival/anti-hero. He's definitely my favorite character and im glad they didn't write off his character last year!
I also like how he went from being a big brain villain last year, to helping out the main cast this year. He’s basically become the yang to SMG4’s yin. SMG3, guardian of the world of dead memes, with SMG4, guardian of the world of living memes. A contrast to SMGs 1 and 2, who often stick together. To think… banishing SMG3 last year actually corrected the universe to what it should’ve been all those years ago. 👍🏼👍🏼

Before I watched this WOTFI I always wondered why axol wasnt in the recent vids, now I understand why.
Two things I love about SMG4’s videos: one, the fact that even during the most serious of moments, there is still that meme worthy level of humour and it mixes so well. Two: just the ragtag team of characters. I love how quirky everyone is and how even though it’s Mario, it doesn’t feel like Mario.

This has to be one of the most emotional WOTFI I’ve ever seen. Seeing how truly evil SMG0 is, this forced the friends to win this battle but at a cost: a loss of another. When Axol was gone, I got teary-eyed, especially since he and Melony confessed their feelings to one another. The love does not last long, sadly. So now it looks like Melony will be continuing Axol’s work in respects for him and the with loving help and care of her friends. Thank you for surprising as once again, SuperMemeGuardian4.

I've been watching this channel since 'Who Let The Chomp Out?' and it has been mind boggling how much this series has evolved and improved over the years. It's gotten to the point where what some people might just call "Mario parody KZhead animations" have more compelling storytelling and drama than some modern movies. Also, the actual rap at the end absolutely bops.

It took me 3 days to watch all these episodes of the genesis series and honestly it’s one of the classic smg4 series that honestly made me tear waterfalls

While I am upset that Axol is “dead”, and a little hoping that he comes back by some miracle, my biggest concern is SMGO. We didn’t really get that much background information or an origin story of who SMG0 was during this arc began. We only first knew that he destroyed SMG1 & 2’s universe and avatar and thought that he was trying to destroy SMG4’s universe. Lets just take look back at some of the previous videos. In the 10 year anniversary episode, we saw that SMG0 was looking over a dead body that may have been his Avatar, and the world around was literally falling apart. He was then struck by some lightning, which then began to make him go in and out as if he was corrupted by some virus. Then we see that he attacks SMG1 & 2 from his own Guardian Pod (USB), using the same lightning attack that was used on him. For all we know, this could have been a virus of some sort that affected him and his universe, and thus spreading, using him as a host perhaps. Or maybe he was using a new source of power to travel to a different universe before his was destroyed. Like they said, if an avatar dies, so does their universe. While Mario was the one to receive these visions…. lets be honest, his brain is literally just messed up spaghetti, thus unable to explain what he saw. In the final piece episode, this is where more questions in my head start popping up about SMG0. First he says that he has his own avatar again, and that with Mario, he could make everything back to what it used to be. And then close to the end, he states that he just wants to live and that he wants a universe that’s nice and peaceful, just like it USED TO BE. This goes to show that there is still so much that we don’t know about SMG0. What happened to his avatar? He claims that his universe was once nice and peaceful. So what happened to it? What ruined his universe? I know these are long, but please just read a little more about my thoughts and theories. I guess the best analogy and theory for this would be Marvel What If episode 4. Both SMG0 and Dr. Strange lost something very important to them. They would do whatever it takes to get it all back, only to lose it again. Strange not only lost the love of his life, but also his whole universe, leaving him trapped in this small crystal alone. And after seeing the inside of SMG0’s USB (The Day HE arrived), it’s almost similar. Lost everything, and trapped in a small dark place (USB). I’m thinking that through all this destruction, he’s been trying to restore his home that was destroyed. Perhaps believing that what he was doing alright. That nothing else mattered, so long as he got his home back. Or maybe a virus had infected him, making him think that his actions were good and would bring his home back, only to spread destruction. SMG1 & 2 only saw the massacre he committed, but not much else of who he was before this all happened. Which lead everyone to believe that he’s just a monster. Unless they knew who he was, and forgot to tell the others. Almost done, just wanna share a theory about possibly bringing back Axol. (Though that would be too soon). Assuming that they bring back Axol, I think the best way to do it is by first looking into SMGO’s true history. His past. Axol may wake up floating in this dark plane of existence, later on finding this one-eyed SMG0. So weak and vulnerable, yet less terrifying looking. What we would see is just a sad, broken man, wanting his home back. Doing whatever it takes to do it. Axol would question who he really was, only to receive visions of who SMG0 was before this whole arc started. Perhaps we would see the beginning of his story. After these visions, Axol would come to understand his purpose, but would try reasoning with SMG0 that what he was doing was wrong. Perhaps Axol could reach out to the others as a spirit to explain the whole story. And if he did come back and SMG0’s universe restored, it’ll either show both of them back to normal, or (crazy thought) fused as one being to restore a destroyed universe, but still looking more like Axol… with a third eye (LOL). Lets also remember that he is also an SMG (Super Meme Guardian). So I would like to know what happened in his past. Again, these are just thoughts and theories. Let me know what you think.
I like this. To add. 1) All the other posters' ideas of Axol being fully revived don't fix the core problem with both the death and Axol himself. Axol has NEVER had agency as a character. Stuff just happens to and around him. Honestly, he hasn't even needed to be around. He only drove the story by owning inkweaver, expositing about the internet graveyard, and baying Melony in the dark web; all easilly removed. If he has to save himself, that would actually give him some character development and agency 2) SMG0 rapping was really out-of-character. 2 episodes ago, he couldn't talk in complete sentences, and now he's rapping? Plus, they never established if he's a tragic character (either from his universe dying by his own accident or from an outside cause) or an actually evil one (if he killed his own universe or otherwise enjoys killing). Giving it some character might explain what the SMG's ate supposed to guard against....

Zero is possibly alive considering he was just possessing Axol, his real body is somewhere else and just needs to be released again

Sacrificing himself even though he knew he was going to die in the end... Just to save everyone else... I cant believe I grew so attached to him too lose him like this, this is Desti all over again... Everything about this is heartbreaking. Period.

Hear me out: Axol's "Death" was not on screen. We did not see a corpse, or a severed head, or a chest with a sword through it. Axol did not say, "you have to kill me," nor did Melony admit she killed Axol. All we saw was Melony charge forward, cut to outside. Compare that with Desti's death from the Anime arc. We saw Sephiroth's sword impale her, and go through her. That death was on screen for all to see. Axol's "death" was not only away from everyone barring him and Melony, but no physical proof was given to us, the audience. Now this is where things get weird. Melony has been proven to have "the powers of a god." And we have physical proof (SMG1/SMG2) that other universes exist. What we do not have is physical proof that Melony CANNOT create a prison realm. Implication does not equal confirmation. Yes, it is implied that Axol is dead, but never stated outright. Yes, he said, "there is only one way to end this," but Melony responds with, "no, I can do this." Maybe Axol was unaware of Melony's full power. It is, in theory, possible that Melony created a stasis prison realm, and locked Axol's body - and SMG0's corruption - away in a separate universe designed to keep Axol and SMG0 locked away until she can find a way to get him back without SMG0. We do not have any confirmation that Melony is incapable of doing that. Why was Melony so sad, if she knew Axol was alive? Because "dead" is better than "locked away in an eternal prison realm." We know that resurrection spells exist in the SMG4 world, we had an entire episode dedicated to Mario trying to use one on Greg. This means that there is a sliver of hope if someone dies. If that person is permanently out of this plane, there is no way to get them back, other than by letting them back. But if SMG0's corruption stays, Axol cannot be let back, otherwise this happens all over again. That's why Melony was still heartbroken. Axol can only be safely brought back if SMG0's corruption is gone, and if someone else finds out that Axol is in a prison realm, they might try to let him out before the corruption is gone. Let me repeat that Melony never said she killed Axol. This may sound like a conspiracy theory, it is far-fetched, and it relies heavily on 2 fragile concepts ("implication does not equal confirmation," and, "not no equals yes"), but it follows all the rules set in place by this world. The only way to fully debunk this theory is if SMG4 comes out with extra information, an official statement, or he sets in place a new rule that specifically eliminates this theory. Is it perfect? No. Is this the ramblings of someone who has played WAY too much D&D and Magic: the Gathering? Yes. Do I want Axol back at some point? Yes. Am I over analyzing this from the mindset of countless complex rules interactions? Yes. Is this theory possible? Using everything that we have, yes it is. Edit: Watch Revelations. We get on-screen proof that he is in the afterlife. Farewell, Axol.
