  • I think this has to do with that fact that fear is what makes most people shut down. But this girl is moved by fear, which is what makes her great.

  • the animation is good and all,the backgrounds were beautiful, the lighting is great and the clothes physics were accurate, but the character models seemed off. like the lighting in their hair either looks good or all weirdly shaded and their faces have these weird expressions and shading. overall, very good with the animation but improve on how the models look, either the hair or the faces.

    • I don't know about the hair, I thought it as the least convincing part of the animation while everything else is great. The physics aren't realistic and it looks wet / oily / stringy. The mesh of the hair is also cutting through itself once in a while. But I have to appreciate the effort none the less.

  • I think the ghost thing is like a metaphor for her fear of making mistakes and a pressure to be perfect. She tries to fight it but at the same time it makes her ambitious and determinated so it kinda helps her? That's because she tries to wipe all of that smoke away from her, but at the same time she is dancing and when she feels like giving up it motivates her to try harder. Anyways, the animation is beautiful, smooth and so human-like....

  • The way I see it, I think she'd used to be a dancer, but then something happened and she couldn't do it anymore. When she finally comes back to dancing, her fear of going through the same horror petrifies her and she continues to run away from her past. That's why the short film is called "Reminiscence". But at the end, she faces her fear and gets past it. :)

  • After reading some comments, I feel like this is a representation of Anxiety and, perhaps, the Fear of Failing (often because anxiety). She is perhaps the leading ballerina for the play, but she suffers Anxiety; and though she got the major role, or if maybe she is the most talented, she still goes through Anxiety most days and through practice sections. Also maybe her role or talent or rank allowed her to go inside the practice room with whatever she wanted to wear. But she only thought others were laughing at her but they weren’t. She was able to dance during the performance because she didn’t want to fail or she knew that she can’t let anyone down because that’s also what anxiety do to you

  • The animation is all out amazing but I feel the facial expressions of the models could be worked on a little bit, as they don't seem to portray much of anything, and little to no movement. Other than that the animation is very smooth and well done. And to everyone scanning these comments, anyone who backlashes against someone critiquing the animation should just stop. It's our own opinions and we are putting them forward to help the creator make a better animation in the future. We are not saying the animation is bad, we are simply saying the animation could be improved, to be better than it is now. Even Disney makes mistakes, which is why critics are good, to help point out mistakes so the animators can improve their work.

Because her hair goes through her shirt and her pant leg flies up in the air a lot I also noticed a few glitches in the background. (I'm a nit picker, before anyone attacks saying"Oh my god like you could do better." It''s all about improving I just stated my opinion. Also did they use motion capture for this because it looks like it I may be wrong though but the animation is really smooth.

  • it is an awesome short film but there is a little mistake at the end: long skirts are not used in the world of ballet, because you can't see the legs with a long skirt. The leg-work is very important.

    • They are used, I used to do ballet and we got long black skirts to dance with in grade 2 I think it was

    • Juju S the smokey thing is her fear, her fear of being judged by the other girls (i think) or fear of dancing, she faces her fears (the smoke) and then there is a smoke girl guiding her to dance, making her do what she loves. in the end her dreams came true and is a famous dancer i guess.
