Bucket List Hunt - Dan and Jason head to Kodiak Island Alaska to hunt with Big Wild Outfitters and guide Clay Roberts. Dan was able to harvest a huge bodied billy with his rifle on the 2nd day of the hunt. Weather was colder than usual, so spike camping on the mountain was not an option. We would have to make the hike to the top of the mountain (and further than expected) to locate a shooter billy. Dan was able to get it done, the gruelling mountain terrain just added to the adventure.

  • I have been hunting, photographing and writing published articles, covers (and now a book) on hunting for fifty years. I watch a LOT of hunting videos, and this is truly one of the most epic hunts I have ever seen. I climbed New Zealand's mountains to score Chamois & Tahr, so I know just how gut busting those climbs are, how that freezing air hits your diaphram & makes to feel like an asthmatic. Hats off to the photographer too. You captured the sheer terror of those snowy tops. I could hear you silently screaming to yourself, "What the hell have I got myself into - I didn't sign up to die falling off a cliff!". Respect & props from this 73 year old Ozzie guys. i thought I'd seen everything Kodiak Island could produce. How wrong I was. Like I said... epic!

    • @@RackVisionsOutdoors I am 64 years old but still very active. You will remember that adventure for along time. When I was in my 20s I built a 50 cal Hawlken black powder rifle and got draw 2 times about 3 years apart. I hiked to the 7,000 ft level tied everything to me and shimied the ledges and glaciers but I didn't have fresh snow to deal with like you did. It was very steep , the lighting and storm ran me off the tops of the mountains on one trip. I got 2 goats but boy you earn them. Thanks again for your video

    • @@RackVisionsOutdoors Agreed. I lost 42 lbs on a 5 week trip to the Brooks Range. Won't be forgetting that anytime soon. Take your suspenders.
