    • Third and fourth rounds...nothing much happened...tie goes to the champ....not saying it was MY opinion....Lance was pushing the action more. That's why Andre's corner was getting on him so much.....if you want to win the belt, you gotta take it to the champ...first two rounds weren't enough.

Lance Palmer is a very good fighter, with an amazing pure wrestling background, but he simply got beat by an even better fighter on that night. This is PFL, not UFC. You don’t have to be the best in the world to be PFL champ. Hell, it’s harder to become a Bellator or ONE champ even than it is to become a PFL champ

    • Ugh, just because you’re a great pure wrestler doesn’t automatically mean you’re a great MMA wrestler - you need to put in sufficient time and training to learn HOW to implement and set up that wrestling properly in an MMA-specific context, otherwise you’ll get knocked out quite likely just shooting takedowns blindly and recklessly with no setup. Harrison was constantly ready for the shot - always maintained proper distance and angles, never got over-aggressive, never lost focus, good vision, sharply looking for counters for whenever Palmer tried to close the distance in any fashion

      @kirklandau2826@kirklandau28263 жыл бұрын

    • It’s definitely not every time. I’ve seen plenty of fights where it made no discernible difference. I would be interested to see actual stats on whether it’s more than 50% though (which is what it would be if it had no affect whatsoever). I highly doubt it had a significant impact on the result of this fight though. Stylistically Palmer just seemed to have almost nothing for Harrison at this point in time, whereas Harrison’s fast hands and crisp boxing/striking caused him to rock Palmer on at least 3 different occasions across 3 different rounds

    • Just because you’re a great pure wrestler doesn’t mean you’re a great *MMA wrestler* - there’s a big difference. Since there’s strikes involved there’s a lot of danger in shooting recklessly without setting it up first, you can get easily knocked out that way if you’re not careful and don’t know what you’re doing. Palmer at this point in time wasn’t well versed enough in implementing and setting up his takedowns at a high level in an MMA-specific context. Whereas Harrison was certainly well versed in defending and anticipating and countering/punishing any attempted shots. That’s it in a nutshell. It takes a lot of time and training to learn how to transition from pure wrestling to MMA wrestling effectively. A lot of wrestlers spend that time trying to learn the basics of striking and submission grappling instead so that they’re properly well-rounded and don’t have any glaring holes. Understandably so. But sometimes this only results in lackluster generalists who aren’t amazingly good in any one particular aspect of fighting

I know his brother(kinda), we both wrestled at OSU, he’s a south paw like me, and then obviously the wrestling connection in general. • Palmer was +1 at least 75% of the fight.. point wise he won..he took shots and stumbled but was still the aggressor and pushed a +1 pace.. same reason the Gundabad orc(yoel) gets robbed so often. They should change eye gouging also.. especially when on top(ground), which never gets called and matters most.

    @michael4772@michael47723 жыл бұрын
    • What the actual fuck are you even talking about? What the hell is “+1”??? I’ve never even heard of that. And Palmer didn’t do shit - zero takedowns and barely landed ANY significant strikes across the entire fight. Harrison had a big advantage in significant strikes landed and rocked Palmer badly on three different occasions across three different rounds. You have no clue what you’re talking about if you think “point wise he [Palmer] won”. I mean, that is laughably ridiculous to the point of being hilarious. Even if you’d never seen a fight before and had no clue how rounds are actually scored, common sense alone is sufficient to dictate to you that Harrison clearly won this fight. Trust me, he won in EVERY sense - “point wise” and otherwise. And if you’re talking about Yoel Romero... he’s literally never been robbed. When the fuck has Yoel Romero been robbed? Both his losses to Whittaker and his loss to Costa were very close fights that could’ve gone either way, but that’s not a robbery, that’s just having the misfortune of losing extremely close fights. Whittaker definitely edged out the first fight, the second fight should’ve been a draw, and the Costa fight could’ve been a draw too or gone either way. Therefore... NO robberies, you’re completely misusing that term. This fight on the other hand between Palmer and Harrison wasn’t particularly close at all... it *would’ve* been a true robbery if Palmer somehow miraculously won. See the difference?
