When you think you QA tested your game to perfection then you see someone break the game in just the first 10 seconds
that is where community testing comes in
Speedrunner: Do you have a question about your game?
Since this speedrun, a runner has shaved another 7.5 minutes off of his time.
Having the runner in the commentary answering devs questions would be awesome to watch
this is a great idea
Honestly that was the thing this video was missing
HAVE THE SPEED RUNNERS JOIN THE VIDEO
They tried it once, it was absolutely terrible.
@@IamMiaga Oh when was that? is that the one where the speedrunner reacts to the devs and explains it in a voiceover?
Speed running a rogue like game with randomisation sounds both impressive and extremely lucky
most rougelikes, especially ones without overtime permanent buffs, use rng, because the game would be boring
Have you heard about Minecraft speedruns? Not a rogue like but it's a thing
It's not mpressive, when you 'lock castle' to replay previous one which you already seen.
The only react videos with actual relevance 10/10
Everyone who hasn't tried out rogue legacy should, very fun game
Rogue Legacy 2 is in advanced beta now, and it's really great! It already has more content than RL1 had... but the developers are still 2/3 of the way to finish it! So even more stuff to come :D
Nah, its too short. takes only 17 minutes to beat :-P
@@Anonym-mh7sz nice one
@@Anonym-mh7sz *Raise glass*
Wish they would get the speedrunners commentary that way we all know what he’s doing in the run
It's not what you think...
Go follow the runner and ask them yourself. :P
Thanks for doing this!
Thank you for the update, IGN..!! Rogue Legacy reminds me of an old MSX game called The Maze of Galious. One of my favorite games of all time.
Love this guy, one of the best and nicest people you will ever meet -Testerosterone
100% agree.👍best rogue like game!
underrated gem of a game
When speedrunners know more about the game than the developers
Knowing how to break something doesn't mean you know how it works.
@@talanock but more often than not, players know more about interactions, just because there's a lot more players than devs.
@@talanock yes they do know more than the devs. you dont get to find a trick which make you shave time with consistency by hammering your controler and wish to break something (which they also do but then analyze the hell out what happpened to recreat it later) they do reverse engineering for YEARS past the game life time, and have spent more time with the game than the devs itself. they do know every interaction and every way the variable interact in the game of the game. the only thing they dont know are the source code, and if the game is old enough they already recreated or it was leaked.
I've had this game for like 3 years and have yet to beat the final boss
You guys should leave some of the streamer's commentary in there between the developers' comments. It would be cool because we could hear how the speed runner did some of the tricks
Haha the dude is all "OH NO THEY FOUND A GLITCH THIS REFLECTS POORLY ON ME" when _this is literally what speedrunners do_
This is genuinely the saddest "devs react" video I've ever seen. Guys, don't take it personally, this isn't a critique of your game making abilities, this isn't a roast of your skills or your game. The biggest, beefiest tank in the world is not impenetrable. Just celebrate the hunt and laugh at how funny such divergent gameplay can be.
Making non buggy products is also what developers are supposed to do.
This game has the greatest mechanics ever that didn’t get enough gameplay, so glad there’s a sequel
Never thought I’d see this
Nice video IGN
Nice wolf Adam
@@skydiamsteam6005 it's come from Helluva boss
As per the comments rogue legacy and rl2 are fantastic games. And you guys deserve all the praise for making them on an indie budget
Would be lovely if you could link to the original video of the speedrun as well :)
That's cool.
Does anyone know what version of the game this is?
This must be the old build because we've definitely patched most of this stuff out.
v1.2.0b top right corner at moment 0:36.
@@edwardrylsky8633 thank you
When you are happy that they didn't glitch invincibility for the whole game haha
You should have them back to react to Zors no hit level 0 speed run of the game
Perfect breakfast content :]
this reminds me that thanatophobia is a bastard trophy that prevented me to plat this game :(
Only trophy left here as well, if we could just use the Architect it would be so easy
wow thats fast wtf
The hardest fights in rogue legacy were always slime and skeleton.
2:28 zero from Kirby is that you?
Wowe
It's funny to watch devs who spent years creating a game they intend to be many many hours long spectate their opus be completed in 17 minutes. This is probably the only content series IGN has ever made that is worth watching.
Why does it look like he don't take damage from hits in the basement. He just run into so much. And don't take damage. Is it because the knight can block it or something?
Nope he Glitched it so hes invulnerable to damage
Why does he keep pausing?
Watching people perfectly dodge bullet hell. Take out bosses at lvl 1 things like that are fun. Watching someone “speedrun” with an invincibility glitch is neither engaging or impressive
Dude, on the beginning he says he's the lead developer on "Rogue Legacy 1". Note the "1". ROGUE LEGACY 2 HYPE TRAAAAIIIN
??? Rogue legacy 2 has been on Steam for a while dude.
are you okay?
6:55 ummmmmmmmmm?
First
Y nadie lo sera
Cooooooooooooooool Nobody cares BTW 😂
so this is someone doing a speedrun using cheats?
He uses glitches, which is fine and allowed in the any% category of speedruns for this game. It's not cheating since any other player competing in this category is free to glitch the game as well. The glitches are something that are already in the game, no external programs have been used so it doesn't classify as cheating for any%.
@@rafaelbrito9519 Alright fair enough thanks for the explanation.
Exploits and a previous version of the game
There should be a rule: If you break the game, the run doesn't count.
In any% category you can finish the game in any possible way. If you want to see the proper gameplay, look for glitchless category.
There should be a rule: Use your brain before you speak
@@Crowbar So use it?
man this isn't a speedrun this is just cheeserun, disapointing.
oh wow some speedrunner using the old bugged version of the game. What a waste of time. This game is 8 years old at least find some decent version.
cry about it
Since this speedrun, a runner has shaved another 7.5 minutes off of his time.
so this is someone doing a speedrun using cheats?
No, glitches. The difference is that cheats are intentitionally coded into the game by the developers and are revealed by them, glitches are unintentional and must be discovered by the community as even devs don't know they exist.
@@marcobering3945 Cheats dont need to be intentionally coded in, they can be caused by a third party program or can just be altered game files by the runner. If they were intentionally coded in, they could even be allowed in the any% speedrun.
