I believe the bullet hit the fence and then peppered him slightly. I waited until I thought I was clear to shoot through fence 🤷♂️

We call those hedge apples. They do make great active targets to shoot at. They are a good ant and roach repellent too.

Horse apples? I have heard them called hedge apples, Osage orange but horse apples is a new one. I have heard the thorn adorned trees called bo-dark in Missouri which is short (and hillbilly) for bois-de-arc. I have heard of cows nearly choke to death on them but didn't know anything could actually eat them.
