I had a hedgehog like 25 years ago in high school. Got him when he was a little guy that would roll into a spiky ball when I touched him. Once he got used to me he kept his spines flat and laid back like hair. He was so sweet. Actually got attached to me kind of like a dog. Wish they lived longer though. It sucks getting attached to a pet that has a short lifespan.

Unlike most critters they aren`t known for being a nuisance but even take a great part in helping nature getting rid of said nuisances :P It`s also hard for me to get over the fact that they are covered with sharp spikes - something that can easily be used to described some scary and evil made up creature from a horror movie but instead they are as gentle and sweet as one can get without breaking the space-time continuum.

A similar thing can happen to dogs. If they're rolling around and an intestine gets "torsion-ed" (twisted at both ends) that intestine can fill with gas and eventually cause major problems. I had that happen to my dog and the vet sorted it out quickly.
@MikeyParks Жыл бұрын
That condition in dogs is called Gastric dilatation-volvulus, but is more commonly known as “bloat.” It occurs most often in the stomach as a result of distention which can quickly “turn” the organ, essentially tying it at both ends where the stomach meets the small intestine, and the esophageal sphincter. The stomach produces digestive protease enzymes & stomach acids in order to break down food once it has been ingested - when bloat occurs, those gasses have no way of escaping, and the stomach has no way of pausing the production of those gasses. It eventually continues filling with gas & kills the animal if left untreated. The difficulty with bloat is that by the time you recognize a change in behavior, it’s almost always too late to save them. Bloat can happen with any breed, but it is exponentially more common in large breeds, & the most common impetus is dry dog food - when a dog eats his/her dry food quickly, then proceeds to immediately drink a great deal of water, the dry food in their stomach expands rapidly, which turns (or twists) it, trapping the food, water, and gasses. It’s also common for dogs which suffer bloat to eat their food at a healthy rate, drink a relatively small amount of water, but then exert a great deal of energy right after eating. Luckily it sounds like you have a strong bond with your dog, and recognized its distress early…and you have a very good vet, who was able to reverse the damage quickly. That’s rare, so it’s impressive! Well done. (Speaking of vets, most of them will use a minimally invasive preemptive procedure with large & extra large breeds called gastropexy which involves using sutures to attach the stomach in its proper position to the abdominal wall. They usually do it while spaying/neutering, since they’re already under general anesthesia. In the past, 2 of my Corso’s, 5 of my Great Danes, 2 of my German shepherds, and 1 of my boxers all underwent gastropexy while being spayed &/or neutered.)

About male wasps trying to sting you. I think it is more about the males having inherited the instincts to sting as a gender neutral instinct. And it sorta works, being males dont live lo need de-evolve it. Just like men got nipples. PS As for queens living much longer than the workers. Queens sleeps for much longer and in fewer longer periods. Workers only get a few hours total with few minutes naps. While queen can easily sleep like 8-10 hours total.

Can someone explain to me how needing something means your species evolves to get it? Wouldn't there have to be some random mutation that gives a wasp a stinger?
@Wreckz_Tea Жыл бұрын
Natural selection. Organisms with the best genes survive and pass on their genes for evolution. A wasp which began to develop a sting is more adapted to live and survives while a wasp without a sting isn't so successful and dies. And trough the evolution species develop a fully working sting

Talking about birds and wind turbines and power lines... A long while ago, I was returning to San Diego from the Palm Springs area. I left while it was still dark so I could make use of the whole day when I returned. Taking a winding mountain road, when getting close to Temecula the sun was about to rise. Off to the side of the road, was a power line with a turkey vulture perched on one of the middle wires. As I neared it, the sun started to rise over the hilltop and the vulture threw wide its wings in a glorious fashion to welcome the sun... And bridged all of the wires with its wings... Next thing I see is a huge fireball explode into existence and an thick oily smoke mushroom cloud launch skyward from the vulture's location. This was followed by a totally carbonized skeletal carcass which fell down into the brush below. I felt bad for the bird, but I still couldn't help laughing my ass off. I wonder if vultures and other large birds are an additional source of wildfires...

I had a pet hedgehog and she never had this problem- the balloon syndrome. The main problem I had with her was keeping her warm enough, she was very sensitive to temperature changes.
@@Breakaway-ic5gj They're not struggling, it's on purpose. Channels tend to cycle through a ton of different titles and thumbnails until they hit the highest click-through-rate
"Here's What Happens When Hedgehogs Become Pets"
I’ve seen many in the uk, on my way to work and sometimes in the area I’m living They’re really cute animals and very pacific as I’ve seen so far Do not kill them neither disturb them.
That bee/wasp sting info was Crucial and they shouldve taught us that in school
"Hedgehogs" proceeds to give me a rundown of every creature that exists and their anatomy
They have the sudden, inner urge to jump onto and munch on chili dogs lol
Sonic, Shadow, Silver, and Amy really needs to stop curling into a ball.
No, deviantart is on IRL...
There's so many animals that get fumbled by evolution
“ This is how nature works, it gives animals some kind of perc.” Did you mean Percocet????🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@gold pup ohhhh ok just making sure the insects weren’t popping percs🤣🤣🤣☠️
The title is baiting, but I really love to learn nature facts! Tbh, no need of a click bait title for such content of quality! 🙂
tbh yeah. but this channel seems like it's been descending into deception..
Watop is like the cool national geographic channel.
Try hood nature
I love how he flips topics we went from headgehogs to birds
sharks to mice 🤣
Ah nature..... The most beautiful death match ring ever. Khorne be praised
Well, the frog and wolverine aren't far of they both break their skin to use their claws. But every time his claws retract his skin heals back so its a cycle of pain
There's a lizard that has ribs that can be extended out of the body. As a defence mechanism.
@@Ikajo what the.. F*CK!?
@@Ikajo R U SERIOUS!?
@@mikhaildomero3928 I don't remember the name of the lizard, but yes.
@@Ikajo bro... Thats messed up...
While queen can easily sleep like 8-10 hours total.
is per day?
@@Yerinjibbang Yes ant workers do in fact sleep a few hours per day. But standing and very short bursts. At least Fire ants
We need to keep this information away from the Sonic the hedgehog inflation fetishist
Very good narrations,Research, stories, features and videos. A Mind Blowing Facts and Educations. Man u really Hit us with Knowledge. No regrets for watching and subscribing to your Channel guys, I love your every Videos and uploads. Much love. ❤❤❤
It happens when their food rips the throat-pipe. Hard shelled beetles, for instance.
Watop is top 10 KZhead channels I can't live without
Curse me with those channels too Tell names now!!!!!
Me wanting a Sonic The Hedgehog game now where he can blow up into a balloon and you have to keep him from popping.
The closest might be that mod where rings are onion rings instead 😭
LMAOOO
that gekko just gets it..how to avoid pain.. easy loose contiousness
The shark said “ugh” 🤭
aw they are so cute ♥️
So basically muskoxen all eventually suffer from CTE… that’s pretty brutal
Can someone explain to me how needing something means your species evolves to get it? Wouldn't there have to be some random mutation that gives a wasp a stinger?
Natural selection. Organisms with the best genes survive and pass on their genes for evolution. A wasp which began to develop a sting is more adapted to live and survives while a wasp without a sting isn't so successful and dies. And trough the evolution species develop a fully working sting
Evolution is nonsense and there is 0 proof or even evidence for it.
@@ForageGardener XD
Those that fail to reproduce will have their genes out competed by those that do.
Evolution isnt a thing animals were created as they are
Also due to the geckos size and weight its terminal velocity is much lower than ours therefore it doesnt take "fall damage" as easily
Jeremy wade made me appreciate sharks. Yes even the ones that tread rivers
Did anyone else think the whole video was gonna be about the hedgehogs? it took me until halfway through it to realize they were done with them.
I saw one near my house a couple of days ago. I poked it with a branch just a little bit to see its reaction. The hedge was like, what the f dude, chill 🤣. They are very slow and lazy creatures.
Humans can get a pneumothorax too, but the ribs keep expansion in until the lungs can't expand.
Omg, that thumbnail is gold! 😅😅😅
Us males can only wish we could last 14 hours. Most dudes can't last 14 minutes
I'm only gonna give 14 seconds, I got stuff to do
14 minutes can be quite a workout.
I bet that if humans were more aquatic, sharks would be like house pets. Sharks love people, legitimately. Sharks love having their noses rubbed and don't see people as a food source.
I was going to make some sort of joke about the Sonic fandom but honestly the joke writes itself.
This reminds me of my hedgehog 🦔. Woke up the next day and found it dead 💀😢 It was very lovely 😊
I hope mine doesn't die too soon! I feel bad for u!
I came to watch a 11 min video about hedgehogs then realized they don't even have 2 mins of screen time. You can only clickbait me once.
I was here for the thumbnail. Looked like you were helping the little guy stretch.
Has the "snakes have perfect bodies" video been copyright struck? Is there any chance we're getting it back?
Steve and I : Though after all the animals problem I have mentioned today what else can you expect from it? Me: keep searching for solution and inform the audience or viewers about your discovery.
i know it's kinda sad but it cracked me up about the Antechinus. lol. "DEATH BY SNOO SNOO!" at least he died doing something he loved!
The Beltway Bandits Mat 😜
This channel answers questions we have at 3am
That preview reminds me of South Park cristmas critters sacrifice moment XD
should have mentioned _The speartooth shark or (Glyphis glyphis) is a rare species of river shark, belonging to the family Carcharhinidae.
Best notification you get is when this man upload a new video 🤩
Looks like sega could give sonic a new ability.
Holy hell this my first time on this channel, are you always all over the place with your topics? 😂😂 I love it
So Sonic inflation art is canon(??
Damn you BULL SHARKS!
It's always the same music everytime but somehow it never gets old
So I did the calculations and those musk one hit with 10000 newtons of force. About 2262 pounds of force.
Hedgehog got air balloon but human got water balloon. *Hydrocele*
This makes me look at sonic so differently 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Finally we can see the subscriber of watop
I had a dog that had a burst trachea from a fight that didn't break the skin. The dog went all crinkly(only way I can think of describing it, you stroked it and it crinkled) vet gave it a tracheostomy and was ok in a week or so
even with the fog bug, Id like to be a bird in next life😉
7:20 I have heard that a human died like that. I don't remember where I heard it, I believe it was PewDiePie rating deaths.
The hedgehog looked like it was trying to turn into an echidna
We had some hedgehogs under our porch. The cat had some red blood dots on his nose sometimes, wonder how They got there? 😅🤣
man, my back wishes it was that hedgehog in the thumbnail.
5:50 our "perk" was our conscious mind. Which is also our biggest flaw... damn you nature
I wasn’t gonna watch this video but ngl the thumbnail got me
When you ask my overweight friend, this is what he suffers from, not too much eating.
You forgot to add that hornets and yellow jackets bit! Their bit can be worse than their sting.
Me eating while watching: oh is that why my food taste weird?
Always a good show!
I know a woman that likes to pick up and pet Hedgehogs. They do growl pretty harsh. But wont bite.
My boy is level 300 nerd dude he knows everything it’s crazy i love it keep up the work dude well I don’t see u stopping lol
thank u watop for this video
I see hedgehogs I click
Before you show to us the number of subscribers you have,I searched it at Google and says about 7.000....I was surprised..but now BOOM..2.58 MILLION!
Very Interesting Facts! ... Thanks :)
Reminds me of the frog “balloon” from shrek 😭😭
wtf man this whole video was a few minutes of hedgehog documentary and the rest was literally anything else that could not be a hedgehog
If sonic ate like a million sonic rings he would look like that
WATOP nice work 👍 😀
They be crankin' out uploads!
A fehkin ant loves longer than a predator rat💀
I love the background music!!!!!!!!
Evolution can’t give anything. Only a Supreme creator
Amen! And a lot of what he's calling "evolution" is actually adaptation.
Keep up the good work Steve!
That thumbnail is cursed
🤣
“These are huge shaggy animals” You mean that god is in them?
This was a good one!
R.I.P hedgehog kira🕊
My favorite KZheadr I love you
