  • Great to see some real old school stock cars, from back when a car was bought in a dealership, "built," and raced! I was at the 1967 FIRECRACKER 400 in Daytona, and still have a picture that I took through the driver's side window of Wendell Scott's '65 Ford, which was running a stock steering wheel, wrapped with electrical tape! ALSO... there's just nothing on this planet that sounds like a 427 C.I. American stock car V-8 engine! Many thanks! 🔥🔥🔥

  • Cool seeing the Hot Rod Shop of Milwaukee on the rear quarter panel of the Trickle car. I'm friends with the old owner of the shop who now lives in AZ and is still building cars in his 80's.

  • That Trickle car is fantastic! Great video! The sounds were the best! When I saw you driving the 8 car onto the track I said to my self, "Oh boy, the hook is set!" Dick Trickle is one of my all time hero's. One of the last of the independents. I got to meet him at Loudon NH back in the late 90's. We were racing in the bush series and the Cup race was the same weekend. Dick came driving in an old borrowed tractor trailer with one of those orange Schneider shipping trailers hauling his race car. He jumped out of the cab with a tee shirt and a pack of smokes rolled up in the sleeve, and jeans and cowboy boots. He had everything he needed to race including his car loaded into that trailer. He used metal ramps and oak planks to get the car unloaded. He saw us watching and said, "Hey! can you give me a hand unloading?" He was all by himself. I don't even know if he had a crew coming later or not. I had always liked him, but that was when he became a hero to me.

  • Years ago I was on an ARCA team, we got hired a few times by guys running retired stock cars in the HSCRA series to set their chassis up for road courses, and provide track support. A couple of the cars still had oval set ups underneath or were just so jacked up it’s amazing they didn’t wreck going down put road. Lol This video gave me a lot of flashbacks. Super fun days

  • I'm so happy to see you making these historical stock car videos. My dad worked with Kenny Thompson at Hendrick motorsports #5 Levi Garrett car back in the late eighties. I would hang around the shop, wash cars and sweep floors. Kenny Thompson is one of the best fabricators I ever had the pleasure of meeting. He is perfect for his own video on this channel. Just to let you know how good this man was...he was a salary employee and Hendrick still paid him to build custom racing oil pans per oil pan.

  • The Trickle car should most likely be purple, as his Torino and 69/70 Mustangs were purple. But overall, awesome resto on the car. Trickle was friends of the family back in the day, and we watched him race against Shear, Refner, etc during the Midwest golden era in Wi. Our buddy Les and his dad built almost all of Trickle’s FE 427’s out of their shop in Vesper, WI

    • Trickle’s 69 HM Torino was, as represented by the replica depicted here, dark blue. Not purple. The purple came later or at least showed up on his other cars. Not sure if his OTHER Torino (A sportsman car built over a 64 Galaxie frame) was purple. His Mustangs certainly were

      @kurtmillard5904@kurtmillard59042 жыл бұрын
    • @@kurtmillard5904 I always wondered that myself. According to another You Tube video, I believe it was titled "The 10 Best Nascar Drivers Who Never Won a Race," Trickle didn't go South permanently earlier because he was making so much money racing the short tracks he didn't feel the need to. Knowing Trickle's career, I can certainly believe it. BTW, the fellow who did the video ranked Trickle #2, behind Cecil Gordon.

  • Many years ago, a good friend built a tribute car of the great David Pearson's #17 1969 Ford,I think it was. This was so many years ago it's hard for me to remember specifics. It was blue & gold,#17. He had a 427/4speed in it. Had all the same decals on it,including the Holmon Moody Competition Proven decals on the hood. He took some pictures of it & sent them to David & asked him if he would autograph a couple & he could keep 1 or 2 if he wanted them. He sent 2 back, autographed. This was back in the 80's. He eventually sold the car. Great memories.

  • Never went anywhere racing, but sure had a blast. Wish I could of found the cars I raced in the 70's and 80's....from a 62 Mercury 390, to a 71 Pontiac LeMans back then to some real nice pieces through the 90's and the 2000's. Finally stopped in '04. What great time. Think about it every day....

  • It doesn't get any better than this. I would love to get a hold of a vintage stock car. I think it's awesome that people have gotten Rockingham going again with these vintage race days. It must have been surreal being able drive a retired strock car around the track.

  • Hey Thanks for posting this vid mate. I Came for that Torino.... THEN there was all those other cool racecars, and ole mate with the Petty built Charger... his van was even cooler, B.A. Baracus wants his van back. Hahaha I'm more of a Touring Car road racing fan, but those NASCARS from the 60s n 70s were the best as they started off as a "production" car and still had many parts on the outside that they still looked like just a road car with war paint on em.
