  • My 15-year-old Bengal has been having diarrhea and vomiting issues for the past year and the typical products to help with those issues that band-aid the problem didn't work for very long. On a whim, I tried my human-grade beef bone broth powder (Zammex) mixed in my cats' wet food, and in just a few days her diarrhea and vomiting started going away which was a miracle! Apparently, cats can also get the leaky gut issue and bone broth can help immensely. Beef bone broth has literally saved her life!

  • My cats love bone broth, BUT I quit giving it to them when I read about the research that has shown bone broth is high in toxic heavy metals. The cooking down of the bones causes the release of the toxic heavy metals formerly stored in the bones into the broth itself. Bone broth has been found to be particularly high in lead. For this reason, I would not be recommending giving cats bone broth. Especially since their little bodies are so much smaller than ours.

    • Personally I question how much it would take to see heavy metal poisoning? Raw feeders use raw bones frequently, some even daily. ..admittedly these are not processed. . .but I would also think the extrema dilution would bring it down to more natural levels?

    • What is the source of the toxic heavy metals? Bone broth is made from boiling bones and causes the collagen to be released.

  • My cat has chronic pemphigus and has a mix of nuggets and pâté with hydrolysed protein. She used to eat only nuggets, but the vet said she should also have the wet food to your diet, because she has ibs-like symptoms. She has responded very well to this change. Don't know if there is a bone broth brand which has hydrolysed protein option- might be interesting for my kitty!

    • You could possibly try Purina Pro Plan Hydra Care if your kitty needs more hydration. Ingredients: Water, Glycine, Whey Protein Isolate, Glycerin, Guar Gum, Liver Flavor, Natural Flavor, Potassium Chloride. B250220. Otherwise, if you know proteins that are safe for your IBS kitty, you might find bone broth, probably geared toward humans, with that protein, or you could make your own using a crock pot aka slow cooker (search for crock pot bone broth). My IBD kitty does well with lamb dry food and kangaroo wet food. He doesn't like a lot of wet food, so if I can't find cat kangaroo food, I'll give him dog food limited ingredient version and add some taurine, just to be safe. Since it's only "supplemental food" for him, it's not a problem. Zignature makes limited ingredient dog foods that you can buy via chewy if you're in the USA, they're great about refunds if it doesn't work out well.

    • @@AlphaG33k1 Thanks for the tips! I've tried a few brands of dry food, her favorite is the Purina Pro Plan. I'll ask my vet about hydra care. I really don't want to risk giving her home-made food and risk her getting a reaction. The first time the pemphigus manifested itself, she went into remission for 3 months after a couple of weeks of taking pills, but it came back with a vengeance. I have to monitor her to make sure symptoms don't come back and control her portions- she eats very fast, so I can't give her too much at a time. The automatic feeder helps a lot in that respect.

  • Happy Mewsday. My two cats won't eat raw chicken. I boil chicken thighs ($1.79 lb.) about six minutes. I then make broth from the bones and water. It has a good natural flavor and makes the house smell nice while simmering. I add the broth to pretty much anything they eat. Love the name Gordon.

  • Suggestion. If you can't use it all up before it goes bad, freeze it in an ice-cube tray and use it that way. Also agree that collagen is useless, not only to cats but people too.

    @terrymoon1540@terrymoon15402 ай бұрын
  • You lost me immediately when you cited liver detoxification as a benefit of collagen. The liver is the main filtering organ of the body, and "detoxifying" the liver isn't really possible, nor is it healthy to attempt to do so. Ingested collagen also has little value to the body, because the intestines break down collagen (and all other proteins) into amino acids, which are then absorbed into the blood stream. Collagen itself is not absorbed into the blood stream and thus ingesting extra collagen doesn't magically provide the benefits you listed. Also the icon you used for the liver is very clearly a kidney. I don't know what happened to Malory, but I worry this channel has gone to the dogs.

    @didley3211@didley32112 ай бұрын
    • I mean, why would it? Bone borth is more just extra tasty hydration than naything else. Its recommend even more for kibble because a fully dry diet just isn't good for cats, and bone brother is going to be more enticing than water. More hydration isn't going to give your cat diarrhea.

Stick in a container with a lid and shake. 👍 Also people need to stop acting like their world has ended since Mallory's exit. Give the channel a chance to get organized, there's always a bit of a curve when things change. Mal didn't run this channel and was one of many who devote time and effort to it's content. She will be missed but life goes on. It's not as if every video she did was puurrrfect either.

And just replacing her without even saying anything, like maybe we wouldn't notice or say something... like replacing the original Becky on Roseanne with the second Becky. It is the very least you could have done, but taking many of us for granted is how it appears and feels. As for you, Doron... Not professional. Tacky. Classless. Any further good will is dead and gone. As is the advert t- shirt on the new hostess. Bad move. Also, not my cup of tea. This cat lover is going to bounce. Unsubscribed.
