I feel like Alex really wants to be left alone by this point
@@MithrandirRS "yeah man sure ill do it... whatever"
I met him in Banff back in '10 he was getting pizza at famous Aardvark pizza. I recognized him from some mags. He's an alien.
Yeah, he's an outdoors man in every sense of the word
Yea.. but he's gotta make a living too and he knows it
He always wants to be alone. That's why he free solos
It's not featuring Alex Honnold. It's featuring buzzfeed they should be honored to interview him.
No because buzzfeed doesnt deserve do be featured

Yeet
Pretty sure it was meant to be humorous
Yeah I had a hard time clicking the video because it was buzzfeed. But Alex is more important than my hate for regressive socialist propaganda (as well as Trump). Down with the duopoly, if you support democrats or republicans you are ruining the country.
“Surely if a goat can wander up, then I can too”
Alex is the GOAT
next, alex honnold on HOT ONES!
I'd watch it. They have veggie wings too, so it wouldn't be a problem. :D
OMG yass
Effing hell yes. Gotta get Sean's team on it
hell yeah!
And suddenly this is all I want in life. That would be AMAZING!
Everyone: Rock climbing is so dangerous wow hes risking everything omfg Alex: *lol yeah*
You should auction his painting off and give all proceeds to the Honnold Foundation.
agree!
vineofthedead awesome idea!
Yes!
@@MadeInDublin71 yeah too bad buzzfeed is a regressive and close minded platform that wouldn't have the spine to do it. The asshats that infect buzzfeed wouldn't dare support a straight white male or his nonprofit, they wouldn't want to come across as non-prejudice, they would prefer to spread hate and ignorance, it gets them clicks (money). 😭😜
vineofthedead 🗿
Alex Honnold says "doneskies" and "shuhbam". I appreciate him even more now.
You literally asked a guy climing without a rope... if hes a minimalist?
and who lives in a van
Wow he's so centered. Like his perspectives are so distinct and he doesn't seem to be concerned with frivolous things at all.
That'll happen when you've been living in a van for over a decade lol.
Hes amygdala in the brain also does not work as intensly as in other people.. That's why he is so chill. Zero stress response
Don’t romanticize him. It’s obvious in Free Solo he’s got his issues as well.
@@amor2874 I'm not saying he doesn't have issues ... I'm just saying that it doesnt seem like he's concerned with modern day hang-ups
Fair enough. I think he’s centered when it comes to blocking everything out, but I think that comes as a detriment to his personal relationships. Hopefully he’s learning and growing being with his current girlfriend. The documentary to me was fascinating and shows that great achievements come at a cost, his being relationships.
This is how many people like Alex Honnold 👇
It’s a lot more than that, like-seeker lol
Oh, no! Millions love him now!💖
Like him, gave you and your comment a thumb down

@Parker imagine being Parker oh man oh man!!!
the only human to ever go “well surely if a mountain goat could climb that, then i obviously could”, this man takes being the GOAT to a whole new level
Idk, but his voice is lowkey nice to listen to
Ikr
" Drops everyone to make an asmr Channel "
Your mom is lowkey nice to listen to
He uses a lot of what they call “vocal fry”. Women(in the US at least) are criticized for using it often, although as you can see, plenty of men use it too. It’s just that with men the vocal fry is closer to their regular register so it doesnt jump out as much.
Big time vocal fry. A very bad habit.
casually states he "scrambled another 2,000 ft" to hike down a tourist trail lol.
I'm still amazed by the documentary. This dude is crazy, in a good way.
I see him as being an all-too-rare example of someone who is perfectly sane.
@@geonerd Stole my words...
@B Rack Yeah, inspiring. He's going to inspire hundreds of people to free solo to their deaths. Great guy.
Why has no one asked him about the unicorn guy on his free solo ascent?!
Brett Marchel I know right?! I wanna know that dude’s story. Lol
Legit, saw the movie last night in the last cinema showing it and when I saw the unicorn guy I thought ‘wouldnt that kinda throw you off’
I read an interview where he was asked about that, and somehow he didn't notice.
Jermy Hopkisn wtf? He was that in the zone? Wow.
The guy slept up there. It wasn't a costume. He was wearing unicorn footie pajamas. My granddaughter has some. Of course she's ten. I want to know if he ever looks down while he climbs. Past where he places his feet, I mean.
"No no, this is technical brush work" - haha. I like how he made those large trees so small like how they look from 2000 feet. Good answers & painting.
“Ancestor in a form of a goat saved my life” probably one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard
Alex is such a chill guy
”Did you switch to your fingers?” ”No, this is technical brush work” 😂
"May I remind you that the record for free-climbing El Capitan is in no danger of being broken?" - Spock, 'Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.' Now we know what he'll be talking about in 2287.
Is that the first time spock was wrong?
I mean... yes but actually no. Free solo = no rope Free Climbing = With rope
How are his eyes so "Puppy Eyed"???
His eyes....exactly beautiful...👀
Cocaine
Someone made a perfect comment that he has the eyes of a golden retriever.
The sweeter a person you are and/or the more of an anime superhero, the larger your eyes. So really they should be the size of dinner plates.
It's because he has large brown puppyls, like an Iris Setter.
"Do no harm" is an amazing mindset to have. Alex, you're changing the world. Thank you so much brother. Much love 😁✌
He's so down to earth, the coolest dude for sure
His voice is literally so deep
It's the California vocal fry
It's all the testosterone produced by his massive bals
not really
Sounds like 5 surfers that I know. Very relaxed dudes
he’s a really good representation of a lot of climbers and it’s great having him as someone’s first introduction to rockclimbing and being able to inspire future climbers. now let this man go back to his climbing and enjoying his vegetarian meals
I live in Yosemite Valley. Dude is a pretty huge deal out there. HUGE.
Never been to Yosemite...its on my bucket list to camp and hike there. Heard it gets very busy in summer. And I'm terrified of a bear encounter
@@highlyfavored2434 it is ridiculously busy in the summer, but I wouldn't worry about bears too much. I've only seen 2 in the year and a half I've lived here

I absolutely love that when he said, "I'll hopefully be in Yosemite in May," he pointed to his painting 😂
I was waiting for Bob Ross-like expressions...... Those were happy little trees.
I can't get enough of Alex
Loved Alex for years now, I knew right away from the title it would be him. So excited to see him on a buzzfeed video!
How lovely to hear him talk about Zion NP. I volunteered there one summer and it is absolutely stunning--good memories! I love the trees he painted!
People who climb without ropes are fricken crazy Except Alex, Alex is a legendary man and always knows what he’s doing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
He's literally so cool, like can I be u
Why not A, E, or O they're vowels too?!
Hayley Meyer Weird comment
loved the documentary!!! So happy BuzzFeed got a hold of him and created this!!!
a man who can truly wear the north face brand. awesome dude
Think you've got how branding works back to front there, pal.
I think all the TNF athletes deserve their sponsorship as much.
To be fair, I've only ever owned three North face hoodies and they are the most comfortable hoodies I've ever owned. I could almost live in them. That being said, I understand where you're coming from lol.
Who else has actually been to Yosemite. I recommend going I’m from the uk and it was worth going as it was so beautiful surrounded by beautiful waterfalls and mountains eg bridalveil falls Yosemite falls and the three brothers.

sage s no it’s not
The greatest climber. The greatest athlete. Beautiful deep voice.
Well, THAT's different. But, I like it! Thumbs up for engaging Alex in a novel activity during an interview with him. Alex's 'no big deal' candor is thoroughly refreshing, whether it be in climbing or trying his hand at painting.
whenever i watch these videos it makes me laugh cause everyone thinks he’s gonna be super serious but all pro climbers are just dudes who like climbing and just happen to be really good at it and all they wanna do is just climb
I've always used a Local Credit Union. Always loved the quality of service. Kinda cool to hear Alex mention something like that.
Omg, could he get any cooler!! Every time I see him he just never fails to show up being his authentic self.
*F A C T. It's impossible to not fall in love with his personality. THIS HAS BEEN, F A C T T I M E*
"I need a tree trunk, this is going to be exciting." His greatest endeavor.
Without question, or equal, Alex is the greatest athlete on earth. That El Cap climb, free, solo, is an all time epic athletic achievement.
Technical brush work 🤣❤️ btw the trees are pretty good!
I love him so much
Charming and admirable character.
What an inspiration for kids and any one going through a hard time.
I'm not a climber in any way, but Free Solo and his perspective resounded so deeply in a motivating and simple way. It helped me stop overthinking stuff and simply do the things I needed to and wanted to.
Can't wait to see his film!! I met him a few times growing up here in Sacramento. Our schools were in the same division and we had some mutual friends in high school. Super cool and calm guy for sure. I was completely blown away when I saw him on his first appearance with Joe Rogan on the podcast. I can't even imagine what kind of focus goes in to free solo climbing.
When he talks about how serious climbing is and nobody makes jokes, you could only tell its ironic because he smiled after :D
Alex is... The Ultimate Athlete of the Century and an awesome human being. Hope he goes from strength to strength.
I want that teal background as a wall color. Ok bye.
Connor Malbeuf looks like you got it lol
It looks dope
Alex is a most unlikely star. I think he's a great sport to do this vid!
I so highly admire Alex. His out look on life and his passion for what her does is amazing. I will pray daily for this young man, for his happiness and safety ♡♡ ps. I have watched any interview I can. With him in it. His humility and honesty sets him apart from any other celebrity I have ever seen. He is living his dream and making a real difference in this world by helping others. If you look closely you can see peace and so much serenity in his brown eyes. God watch over you Alex and keep you safe.
He acts the same on camera and in person
You've met him also?
You met him in person??
@@KizaWittaker yes
PantsB4Squares yea super cool dude but a little weird
@@n__167 whats weird?
What a rare and special person. He is not looking for fame or fortune and is in fact, uncomfortable with all the attention. Everyone wants a piece of him in order to sell and use him. I can't imagine him ever quitting. Climbing and free soloing are not simply his passion, but his life. I truly hope not, yet sadly though, and inevitably, I believe there will come a time when we look back at all these interviews, all the videos and the movie and wish he was still here...Such a radiant and inspiring human being...He doesn't have a death wish, but an indistinguishable passion to live life on his own terms; perfectly at peace with that decision.
Good questions, even better answers, superb human being... horrible painting! Love this guy!
I watched the movie it was so good
It was a documentry
I will meet him one day soon as he lives very close to me, he is lowkey, but full of energy, I mean, what he accomplished, none of the climbers that climbed Mount Everest all these years would have the climbing skills, nerve and strength to do what he did. The movie made me very emotional, worrying if he fell of El Capitan when the cameraman looked away from his camera in this movie. I have been to Yosemite over 100 times, just hiking, and always watched the climbers with my binoculars and saying, how crazy their desire must be. I Skydive, but I could never ever Free Solo, not in a million years. See you soon Alex. God Bless You and also your wife that had the same courage to leave you her number duding your book signing. Amazing story.
Well, climbing Mount Everest is worse, in a way. Over 200 people have died climbing Mount Everest. I think Alex would never ever climb Mount Everest. Too much risk and he's not very good in snow and ice. Some of those Mount Everest climbers, though, are or could be, at any rate, good enough to climb El Cap, but it is insane that he did it without a rope. Still, Mount Everest is harder, in a sense. Ed was the first to climb it in 1953 and pretty much did so without much rope or modern tech. That's crazy. 29,000 feet of freezing crazy.
Such a legend
What a truly amazing yet terrifying feat!
I am terrified of heights and after watching free solo , I went indoor rock climbing for the first time and conquered 4 different walls ranging from 5.3-5.9. I compete in Jiu-Jitsu(blue) and look forward to combining climbing into my training regiment!
I did climbing for some time and now do something similar to jiu jitsu! Deliberate movements and knowing how to surrender to gravity/holds/etc is so similar in both. Get belay certified! I was scared and then, once I learned how to belay, I was so much more confident!
Same training regime ! Feels great to feel the movements and trust me after climbing for awhile you'll have the best grips at jiu jitsu haha
5.3 to 5.9 ain’t that hard
@@lucy-sr3qk 5.9 is towards intermediate, no? Which makes it hard for somebody that has not climbed before and also has a fear of heights, by definition. I assume natural talent and related training (such as martial arts), so, he should be capable of 5.10 and 5.11 very soon.
He's so down to earth :P Seriously though he really is
This is such an astounding climb that mere mortals don't understand how absolutely committed you have to be to do what he did. It's the single most impressive thing I have seen in my entire life. Go there and look up..you will get it.
I love your they say the first, like they're encouraging others to do it. Personally I'd say only, as its likely to remain so.
That painting will go for millions one day. This man has the ultimate athletic achievement that has ever been done by anyone in any time period, ever.
Great questions !
Literally my hero ❤️

Shootin strings and flickin beans.
Throwing rope?
That man is amazing!
The only person that can say "I am the captain now!"

He's awesome
That is one *rocky* ride
That goat story was amazing

I guess when you free solo El Cap you deserve a girlfriend that would make Helen of Troy blush.

Alex Honnold is one of the most incredible humans...ever.
Wow! He climbed iMac Mountain?😂
Stefan Stopko shut up that wasn’t funny one bit
My family and I pretty much felt like failures in life after watching Free Solo
Alex is such a fundamentally likable, genuine dude.
Even his trees are pointing up the mountain :D
The doc was exhilarating to watch. 10/10 would recommend.
Wow I just finished watching Point Break on Netflix when this video came out.
He IS right that it’s weird having to paint and answer questions ha ha, but he’s so cool
uhg so cute that he's asking candles to approve his painting...
I hate buzzfeed, but my admiration for Alex made me overcome that and watch this.
Alex is from an other world 🤪💪🏼😉 best regards from a small 🇩🇪 filmmaker 🎬🎥
That intro got me good
Haha i just want to say Alex that you are one amazing human being I understand what you mean about climbing solo like yeah it's danger but you practice and learn and Respect the walls. Everything is going to kill you one might as well stand next to the edge sometimes and enjoy the moment
I hate buzzfeed, but I love Alex Honnold, he has always been my biggest inspiration for climbs and he was the reason I started sport climbing and bouldering again.
