Don't be so hard on yourself Brent! The hood-fender shapes and gaps look so much better now. I think you are a bit of a perfectionist which is way better than not caring how finished jobs turn out. This truck is killer and can't wait to see it finished
i agree. it's looking good
While my other half is watching soaps, I can't tell you how much I value this channel. 👍😊
Put a TV in your shop or garage
😂👍 same same
You’ve taken on a very difficult project with this build and although you’re struggling a bit with some of the more difficult challenges at the same time you’re inspiring your audience with your dogged persistence and artistic talent.
This man takes what he calls hot garbage and turns it into a work of art nothing like watching a craftsman at work. Sometimes I binge watch all day
Dang Brent, you look a little defeated. I know you have a vision of this finished build but just know that we appreciate your effort and hard work. It's more than what most of us can accomplish in a month. I'm sure it will be another awesome rod we all will admire when you're done.
Carter is very good, glad you gave him a shout out!
that Carter Re style shout out that guy does good sheet metal work
Man I have been watching your videos for a few years now. And I love the way you take Metal and turn it into Art. Keep up the great work bro.
You never give up I thought it looked great before. My standards are not as high as yours are Brent going to be a great looker be PROUD
A fella's gotta do what a fella's gotta do, sometimes. When that fella is Brent, you know it's gonna be good.
Once you get the hood mudded and in primer, I bet it will look just fine. To me you got it fitting as good as you could have, but "it is what is" as you say.
I remember as a kid using a hood like that for picking stones on my uncle's farm. Not necessarily a gmc or Chevy but same shape. A short chain from the hood to the tractor and 3 or 4 kids walking along picking up stones
The hood looks so much better now, the gaps are much better. The overall fit is better than most factory fits during this era.
I watch Carter Auto restyling...that Guy's a hoot and He's a talented fabricator also...🤪
Don't kick a fresh turd on a warm summer day....... has got nothing to do with this GREAT video but is good advice. I look forward to every episode.
I love it, Brent attacks that hood like a mad scientist. When you know it can be better. Nice job. Like, share and never compromise. 😎
Awesome as Always... Another quality vid,,Pleasure to watch..
I'm jealous Brent, you have inside storage for your junk! I have to hide my parts under the deck or in the closet... If my wife decides to spring clean I'm in trouble!😮
Tell her never to touch your ju... Y'know what? Nevermind.
Brent, YES!! I see what you meant about the nose of the hood now!! You moved it back, and it made a big difference!!
Looks much better now.
I love watching the idle tools orbit around the work during time lapse.
Love that term,, ,ERK's Me... The truck overall is coming along nicely...
Whenever I'm fixing, building or finishing I never end up with a perfect product. My philosophy is to work with the flaw until it no longer catches my eye. Then I'm done. I like watching you work because you accomplish a lot and it seems like anything is possible.
Great effort, and it looks halfass for sure 😂
Bondo and primer will make a huge difference. Don't be so hard on yourself!!! It's looking great, I haven't seen you F any thing up yet. Keep moving forward. I'd like to see it on the ground, it'll look better there I guarantee it!!
Nice work .the hood looks good
I think it’s good enough..be proud of your job.. All best
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood ......
Yes Sir!!!
Cool stuff. Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎
Looks a lot better now. A little bodywork and nobody will care.
Hey Brent, the hood gaps now look a lot better. I know that was a lot of work but you made it happen. Thanks for giving Carter auto restyling a shout out, Kyle is a great metal fabricator and he’s doing it on a shoestring budget. he really does deserve more views and followers. Thanks again for that. This was a hard one but it still was a great video. Later
Putting in 150% to get it 90% better lol... it's looking great!! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
I enjoyed watching you repair the hood. It looks much better and once in primer it'll be better... Keep on the good work.
Brent the man, with the welder in his hand! Awesome job!
I feel your pain! Those hoods are a nightmare to make fit on a stock truck...trying to make them fit after they have been cut up and welded back together seems like a never-ending battle! Great job reworking the hood, I would certainly be happy with how it fits now!
Well done I believe sometimes in life all we have is time and the more you spend time building this truck the more nicer and stand back appreciate how good it is and say I did that and it's awesome ❤
Your eye and vision are to be admired, Brent. Great work on the hood!
Brent you must filmed this before your trip to Texas. Can’t believe you’re reworking the hood. Hope it’s up to what you’re trying to achieve. Thank you for sharing! 💯❤️👊👍
I think the hood looks and fits perfect. I see absolutely nothing there to bitch about or criticize. She will look the dream once it is in primer. Thanks for the tag along. Always enjoyable.
Hood-fender gaps are much improved. Good job!
Your little laser cleaner / wielder does a nice job. Improved hood looks a lot better.
Its just gonna take a bit of tweaking on the under frame AKA supports under the hood to get it to lay down as clean as you want it.... All In All its better now Brent
The hood sides do fit better.....IMO. Look forward to seeing more. Be safe and stay well.
I think the hood looks great. Gaps look better. At least on camera. After finishing body work and primer, It's going to look awesome.
Brent the hood looked OK before modifying, but with that said you definitely improved the fit. The artiste in you wants perfection, in reality not many find perfection. It is looking pretty darn good. Move on to the next thing come back later if it still bugs you. I think you fab skills are top notch. Also, I think that laser welder is going to be an invaluable help as you get more and more experience with it. It's so much faster with less heat distortion. Great video.
Brent, it was a good idea to re-do the hood. You were never going to be happy the way it was. You made a huge improvement...looks great!
The places where the laser weld takes, looks really good, makes a small bead, easier to grind! I saw another guy using one, and he had the same problem with gaps, but the hood looks better overall!
Excellent video & music 🎶 Brent :) and super work on 1949 GMC truck !
Hello Brent, few days late watching your program, I think the hood is looking much better. Most factory hoods don't fit that well. Nice work. Stay safe and take care. 👍
Looking good , don't over think it you will go nuts chasing perfection... It's a Rat Rod anything less than perfection adds caricature . LOL
It looks 1000% better😊.
You're your own sternest critic. Your work is very impressive, and your skills are great and varied. I admire your diligence and your cheerful, can - do disposition. (Don't get all proud and hard to live with, now.) Plus, you have a lot of nice toys.
The gaps a great now it flows lovely. Keep keeping on I know it will turn out awesome.
High standards but way better results than the average bear! I like the hood design and it is going to make that engine bay super accessible. Reminds me of the 80's Buick Park Avenue my folks had. Not many KZhead car builders push the envelope as much as you do. I especially like the fact that you are using the laser technology. A year from now I bet you will be doing things with the laser that will amaze.
The hood looks a lot better Brent you did a great job.I enjoy all you videos sir. God bless
Pretty hard on yourself fella. I think it looks freakin awesome. Know the detail work is frustrating, but you're great at it!!
The hood is MUCH improved
Never stop to amaze me mint😊
You hooked me with the Pontiac and I have been watching every since....
Awesome build Brent love your hard work and patience it has actually motivated me to keep grinding on my build so thank you for all your hard work
Bret, I can't count how many times I think, what is he on about? But when it's done, it's incredible Great work again my friend. 🖐
Love watching the progress keep up the good work
It's very enjoyable to watch you keep after it.👍👍
i luv how you never give up , great job
i enjoy watching your work and i have watched for a few years now . I know when you finish it will look great.
I still think you're doing an awesome job
A slight vee in the nose down front, pulled together and welded would bring it back. The farther back you cut the vee the less flat the front will look. Do this before cutting hood to install new side pieces.
Great stuff Brent ! Hood looks " FINE" as I have heard someone say !! Enjoy the journey my friend !!! Be careful and God bless you all !!!! Eddy
The after has a finish to it now where as before it didn’t. So agree it was worth the while even if it was a bit of a curve ball. Good stuff.
I like the fact that you guys watch other builder’s channels
I Dig it, So appreciate your art and direction!...
Man that was a lot of work on that hood Brent but it does look a lot better. I hope you and Ester are enjoying your ride back home and taking Route 66 part of the way back home.
Thanks for another , Brother !
The front bumper looking smooth Thanks for sharing Nice and easy on the eyes the flow of things Kool Hood 👀👀💯🍬
I love the truk, keep going 👍👍
The laser welding will only get better the more you do it 👍👍
To me it looks great.....for you it will look better as it is sold off and rolls down the road, out of your yard.
I tell ya, Ima guy who will quite often offer up a suggestion or two when I see a guy struggling, but I'm at a loss too! Compound curves can be hard to manage. I've built a number of cars but never customized a hood. So here's this. I'd make the hood fit the cowl, then fit the grille header. Make sure it hinges and latches at that point the way you want. Then fill the sides in as needed by either adding to the hood or the fender tops. You may need to start with flat metal to form the hood side bottoms. You can do it!
Can't wait to see what you are going to do on this one looking good so far
Come on Brent its the center peace ofcourse you're going to do whatever it takes to get it right, Looks Great.
Nice work Brent looks good
If it's any conciliation, your fit and finish is better than many auto manufacturers even the "luxury"brands!
Coming along great. Going to be wicked keep wrenching my friend! Love your channel.
westport wa.state here sir. thank you for the ride along. if your not happy with your hood. you will be..art ain't easy can't wait to see what color you pick. what you pick will look good. my favorite is not yours.would never want to have you pick a color that was not what you loved. l am sorry if i might have made you think that. your art, your color.
Super sick today, this is a nice reprieve.
You're very talented brother! I learn a lot by watching you do your craft
The hood looks good... good job Brent.🤠👍
Mucho work=Mucho better!! Muy bueno 😎👍
Yes for sure
The lazer has definately saved you time on grinding, its a very tidy weld ,compared to the mig.
Thanks. Hood. Big job
I agree it looks better. Take care
Brent, this will turn out alot better than you think. That's just the way you run...it turns out.
So glad to see you went back to the Fitzee cut 'n butt. air saws are just too finicky. Love watching what you do! Hope the trip is going well down here to the States.
I love your show Brent your the best of rest of them, see ya next time 😊
i feel the gap or line is looking good , it was really a great job that u did on the hood. 💐
The hood looks so much better. Maybe a bit of bondo will help it as well.
Hood looks better, was worth the effort methinks. I have been welding for many days in a row, almost had enough. Stude appreciatates all my hard work though. Grinding the welds. Hate it. Ocean is a little disappointed, Pablo and Buddy must be enjoying the great outdoors.
You may seem to put a lot of time into fitting the hood ( bonnet ) into place but its time well spent as it is well worth it when you see the finish and it looks proper . You always find things that could look better and take time to make it right , thats why your builds are show stoppers. Stuart in Ontario ..
Don’t beat yourself up. You gained a lot of good ground. Sleep on that hood tonight, spend a couple hours on it tomorrow and it’ll be perfect. Well, maybe almost perfect. Good job.
To get a uniform gap tack weld a thin strip of sheet metal to the edge of the fenders then using the new pieces measure how much to remove from the hood (leave extra for shifting). Now tack weld the new pieces to the strips to insure uniform gap, place the hood on the truck so the edges are under the new pieces and cut, tack & weld to fit. Once the hood is welded cut all the tack welds and remove the sheet metal strips leaving a uniform gap. You may need to double or triple the strips for the gap you want.
