  • Don't be so hard on yourself Brent! The hood-fender shapes and gaps look so much better now. I think you are a bit of a perfectionist which is way better than not caring how finished jobs turn out. This truck is killer and can't wait to see it finished

  • Brent the hood looked OK before modifying, but with that said you definitely improved the fit. The artiste in you wants perfection, in reality not many find perfection. It is looking pretty darn good. Move on to the next thing come back later if it still bugs you. I think you fab skills are top notch. Also, I think that laser welder is going to be an invaluable help as you get more and more experience with it. It's so much faster with less heat distortion. Great video.

  • High standards but way better results than the average bear! I like the hood design and it is going to make that engine bay super accessible. Reminds me of the 80's Buick Park Avenue my folks had. Not many KZhead car builders push the envelope as much as you do. I especially like the fact that you are using the laser technology. A year from now I bet you will be doing things with the laser that will amaze.

  • I tell ya, Ima guy who will quite often offer up a suggestion or two when I see a guy struggling, but I'm at a loss too! Compound curves can be hard to manage. I've built a number of cars but never customized a hood. So here's this. I'd make the hood fit the cowl, then fit the grille header. Make sure it hinges and latches at that point the way you want. Then fill the sides in as needed by either adding to the hood or the fender tops. You may need to start with flat metal to form the hood side bottoms. You can do it!

  • You may seem to put a lot of time into fitting the hood ( bonnet ) into place but its time well spent as it is well worth it when you see the finish and it looks proper . You always find things that could look better and take time to make it right , thats why your builds are show stoppers. Stuart in Ontario ..

  • To get a uniform gap tack weld a thin strip of sheet metal to the edge of the fenders then using the new pieces measure how much to remove from the hood (leave extra for shifting). Now tack weld the new pieces to the strips to insure uniform gap, place the hood on the truck so the edges are under the new pieces and cut, tack & weld to fit. Once the hood is welded cut all the tack welds and remove the sheet metal strips leaving a uniform gap. You may need to double or triple the strips for the gap you want.
