Making silage using super nappier. Its a good source of protein but poor in energy, which makes a larger portion of the feed. This is how we add the missing energy

Hello to. Welcome

Thanks
Molasses and other additive that are important for silage making are__?
nice work natumana cutting za supper nappier
Thanks
Can i feed it to my pigs!?
Where to buy super naphier
Why add molasses. Not need for fermentation. The bacteria have enough starch from the added maize bran. So if (plenty of) starch is available and than no sugar is needed. There is no one Europe adding molasses in maize silage, because it is full of starch. The idea of adding maiz germ is a very good one because also the the dry matter content is enlarged. Good for fermentation and good for energy level. Generally good fermentation you get with dry matter contents above 30%. We make a lot of grass silage in Holland and wilt it one or two days from 20% dm till 40% dm. Than we ensile without adding anything. (This is possible because our varieties of grass have enough sugar)
Most farmer still feed see it hard to feed full corn silage to their cows and hence wait till the maize has completely matured for harvest of dry maize and ensile stovers which are less in energy and hence molases is needed. In nappier, starch is low hence adding molases is a good idea. Im maize not needed coz it only adds a minimal energy to the fodder and facilitate remen microbs development
@@Farmwithpaul Showed you video today in Nepal, where all farmer feed loads of ricestraw, which is 'rubbish feed' into my opinion. Want to promote silage making of super napier or (full!) maize in bags
@@halbeklijnstra the best is maize silage full corn. But if you decide to use nappier, ensure to also use a good source of energy like broke maize. Its just not about filling the rumen its about quality feeds for high growth and production
@@halbeklijnstra thanks for sharing
Molasses is bad for the animal teeth
This amazing bro good one much learned through you
Welcome
Good Job , very informative.
How many acres of fodder can a cow consume in a year, and how long can fodder stay without going bad

Preserved nappier silage sometimes back but was not that good plus I didn't have the knowledge of how to add maize germ to balance the silage ,but with such practical and elaboration hope I will do better next round.
Hope you do it the right way next time
how can it get plastic bag, give contact please
I saw one farmer burying the napier grass underground compacting then use the polyythene bags to corver tightly ......
Yes its q method of making silage
How can you provide detailed training for someone Liberia?
We do online training
Hi Paul What is the standard moisture content for good super Napier silage
Less than 60%
Hi Paul What reason can make the silage lot later after fermentation has properly taken place in the three weeks?
Can be poor compacting that allows air or too much water or pit has a whole poor ratio in cases you are using molases etc
Hello Paul, how can I get some the super nappier cuttings?
Yes you can
Please give me your number..i need some cuttings
How much maize germ should be used for the silage to have required energy content?
I used 50kg of maize germ in 700kg of nappier
Hi, Mr.Paul how about if i only cut nappier and packed it sack for future use ?
Without ensiling might be a problem or molds but you can enasile without molases for super nappier
@@Farmwithpaul What's "enasile"?
