  • I started mewing at the age of 24. I was not sure that I would get any results at that age, but thought if give it a shot anyway. Seeing myself every day, it was hard to notice the changes, but I got a lot of comments from people who only see me occasionally that I look a bit different every time they see me, and better. They couldn't quite tell what was different, and I had stayed the same weight.

  • So, mewing is mostly just proper posture to be adapted when you are young, while you're older is just a good habit to have but will not have any great effect on your aesthetics. There is no direct scientific evidence for it, although there is a bunch anecdotal (probably just you going through puberty) and theories. However, regardless of if it's affecting your facial structure, it is a good habit to have.

    • In theory everything adds up and there's no falsifiable reason for why it SHOULDNT work, but until clinical studies are performed, saying it does is legally incorrect which is were Dr Mew is in hot water under.

      @QOVESStudio@QOVESStudio Жыл бұрын
    • There isn't direct scientific evidence for mewing, but there's lots of indirect scientific evidence for it. Like it's been proven that mouth breathing and thumb sucking can cause crooked teeth, so it's not a massive leap to then conclude that incorrect tongue posture would also have an impact. In my opinion its only a matter of time until Mewing has some real scientific evidence behind it

    • What you also need to understand is that puberty and mewing go hand and hand. Your face develops the most when u are at this age so it makes sense to have proper tongue poster to develop the face properly. However, to effectively test this you would need many twins and have one of the pair be told to mew. However, this is unlikely to be tested anytime soon, so I would just mew, nothing really to lose a lot to win.

    • @@randomnumbers84269 it is also not even about bones or jawline. for a long time i kept my tongue pushing on my bottom teeth and over the years, now my teeth are crooked where i pushed my tongue for all that time. it helps keep your bite aligned if you have a small mouth and already prone to overcrowding. so even if its not highly changing your jaw at least it is just making sure my teeth doesn't get even more crooked, or my jaw more recessed

      @21donuts@21donuts Жыл бұрын
    • I feel like it can change anyone's face by a little bit if they learn to do it properly, bc the tongue is connected to the jaw, so if the tongue is moved permanently in a different position, the jaw should eventually move accordingly, regardless of whatever age you are. It's the maxilla bone that takes the longest to change.

  • My son born with Downs had a large tongue so from infancy we were instructed by his speech therapist to lightly touch his tongue to train him to close his lips so that his face would developed properly which would help him to speak more clearly as he matured. We also taught him sign language so he could communicate as his verbal speech was slower to develop. It worked out well bc strangers would comment that he “didn’t look Downs” meaning he did not have his tongue thrusting out, slacked chin and poor jaw development.

  • The second I learned about mewing, it gave me a lot of hope. I have always had a recessed jaw, a square jaw, and no matter how thin I am, I have a lot of fat on my face; a chronic double chin and huge cheeks. No definition of cheekbones, of any sort. I was 28 when I heard of it, and decided to try. The thing with these things is, people often expect fast results, and especially if you are past your teen years, it will take time to see results. I of course was hoping for miracles, and decided to try. At first it felt very difficult, and unnatural, because I was so used to my old posture. But gradually, it started to feel more natural. I did notice my recessed chin improving a bit, but as my muscles was so used to the old position, I had to be conscious of it throughout the day. After two months, I stopped thinking it would do much for my cheekbones or face. I stopped tracking my progress, but I kept trying to be conscious of the tongue and jaw posture, because it couldn't hurt, right? Gradually, my muscles started to adapt to the new posture. Fast forward two years, and I see a huge difference compared to the 'before'. My jaw is almost not recessed anymore, only a tiny bit, when I relax my jaw. I think because my muscles got a bit stronger. I still have some fat on my face (family trait, even in old age), but less of it. But my cheekbones and chin in general are much more defined. My face somehow looks more balanced. I am not sure, but I would think it comes in part from the muscles holding my jaw in a different position, causing the face shape to appear slightly different. And maybe the muscles firming up a little, because they are now activating in places where they were inhibited by my old tongue posture. Double chin is not gone (I think it is also because of my jaw shape, it is very parallel to the floor, not pointed like most other women), but it is much smaller, and kind of more 'firm'. Will it make your bones grow differently? I have no idea, I have no real way of tracking bone growth. :) BUT, I did see a difference in my face with mewing. I started to see noticeable changes after about 6 months, and after two years, they are significant. We often become so focused on bone structure, that we forget how much of an impact muscle can have in shaping your body - so why not your face? Either way, what is the harm in focusing on good tongue posture? Either way, it is good for you to have good posture and muscle cooperation, so there is no reason not to do it. And you might see some changes, they just take a bit of time before they appear.

A lot of people that starts mewing also starts focusing on other aspects to improve how they look, like eating healthier, working out, lowering body fat etc. All of these things add up, so wether or not mewing truly works in isolation is questionable. If you tell a 500lbs person to only start mewing, without changing their diet or working out, I highly doubt anyone will see any difference at all after a year of consistent 6 hour daily mewing.

I never had very good facial structure and when I look at old pictures now, I barely recognize my face. I found out more or less by accident, that by pushing my tongue on the roof of my mouth, my face would look sharper, and I would seemingly have a better jawline. From then, I just always had it like that. Now I can say, this has saved my face in a very significant way. • Mewing actually works.. I can tell you that, at least for me based on my experience, but it's not an easy thing to do, you have to be consistent and determent cause it's not something you can gain overnight, i personally started seeing the change more or less after 7 month, and no you wouldn't immediately look like a model or smth, cause it just helps you to reach your genetic potential to improve your facial attractiveness, but I'm quite happy with how it turned out, my face looks so much better than how it used to, i used to have quite weak jaw, i'm a skinny person but i always wonder why my jaw looks really bad, and i don't even have jawline even tho i'm skinny, so glad i came across a video about mewing and also found out that mouth breathing has a bad effect on facial structure which is something i had been doing my whole life at the time, and from that moment i told myself that i need to try this, i mean what do i have to lose anyway?, it doesn't cost money, i just need to do it consistently, first days or week were so painful and so hard cause i used to breath through my mouth, and I'm not used to close my mouth when breathing, but now im glad i did all of that, it definitely pays off, like im so used to it now, it feels so weird to not sucking my own tongue and put in on the palate Edit: i started mewing in 2018 and i was 21, so i guess you don't have to be teenager to be able to gain the result, but one thing i also learned is that mewing doesn't really help with crooked teeth, it helps you getting stronger and more chiseled jaw,and also more prominent cheekbones, but it does nothing to my crooked teeth, i even feel like my (crooked) front teeth have become more crooked than how it used to be, i supposed because i sometimes don't realize if i push my teeth with my tongue when mewing

Mewing is the key to proper development people, traditional orthodontics is a crime. Look into it. Try for Biobloc expansion at an early age (preferably before 8 if possible but still up to about 16-18 although the results diminish past puberty) and MSE (maxilliary skeletal expansion) if you're in you're 20's upwards. I'm 25 and going to go for MSE. It's the same principle of expansion to allow for more tongue space.

  • When I heard of it I was amazed because it made a lot of sense. I had braces as a Teen and although it widened my jaw and made my teeth straight I still lacked a defined jaw because i was too weak to drink from the breast as a Baby. And braces are not that good for your teeth anyway because your spit also cleans it in the night. I learned that from doctors that try to educate tooth hygiene for children so that we dont give them too much to drink before bed because the Spit gets too mixed and basically weak. But I have another opinion on drinking i just think you shouldnt have stuff or those plastics in your mouth that keep your teeth dry and get glued there with acids. But well I suspected that I lacked muscles and something with my fascial structure was wrong because when your palate is not wide enough your nose is also not wider enough and that is why I had SUCH a hard time getting it back to Normal after having a cold and having a stuffed up nose. Because I LITTERALLY read that it helps to press your tongue up against your palate (from someone that was obviously not mewing). So that explains even more and more and why I can now breathe way better through my nose after roughly one year of mewing and I dont get addicted to those nose sprays anymore either. Its crazy. Another Motive that something wasnt right was that my mother had more defined facial structures and didnt have the same Problems with soft food as a Baby or child or being too weak and THIS IS THE THING: when I told her about mewing she found it faszinating because SHE ALWAYS HELD HER TONGUE LIKE THAT! Amazing isnt it? That was her natural posture without ever thinking about it or that anyone did it differently and my tongue was always laying on the bottom of my mouth which was also the reason why I didnt felt the need to close my teeth together which was why my face seemed Kind of longer then it should (while the mouth was closed) and dragged all Features down. Like my nose for example I noticed this when it got broken and i realised that i actually dragged it down with my open jaw and focused on closing my teeth a little more. But because I couldn't mew in a casual way yet, it Was too hard for me to relax my face so that I didn't drag anything down so I closed the teeth as relaxed as possible and to make Sure that I wasn't pulling i just kept my mouth a little open. And after some time I realised that I should and could close the mouth as well so that everything is in plase and isnt changing facial features in an unnatural way. So i am mewing for about a year now (almost) but I wouldnt call it a year because it took a lot of time for me to get my palet broad enough to actually press my tongue against it properly and also make Sure I am not deforming my face by doing it wrong. But I can say that a lot of things have changed for the better as mentioned above and my jawline is defenetily Looking better and my cheekbones are coming out and I feel more comfortable and secure with the way my mouth feels (not flippflopping loosely) I really hope people get aware of that and many important factors (and dont try to make money by Kind of fixing stuff with braces) or maybe dictors really dont know im not Sure. Just make Sure you give yourself time to Do it right and definitely make Sure you Do it right.

  • I have been a class three malocclusion patient my whole life. I started mouth breathing when I was a baby. I don't remember but my mother told me that I had my mouth open 100% of the time. I even have multiple photos of myself as a baby with my mouth open. This led me to apply too much force on my mandible, that ended outgrowing my weak maxila. Yes, I suffered a lot because of my looks, especially at school, but mouth breathing affected my life in many more ways. Chewing was so hard that it would take more than an hour for me to finish lunch, and I wouldn't really finish it, I would just wait until my mother got tired of insisting to throw all my food through the window when she wasn't looking. Because of that I became extremely underweight and reached 18 kg when I was around 8 or 9. Fortunately I got orthodontic treatment for one year at 8 years old and was able to chew more easily. After one year of treatment, my orthodontist told my parents that it wasn't affective enough and that I would need corrective surgery, but my parents thought it was enough and just stopped taking me there. I had to go to a speech therapist as a child because my tongue was too weak to produce some sounds, but after a while my parents thought I didn't need it anymore, which I did. It affected me a lot since everybody noticed that I spoke "weirdly" and many times didn't understand what I was saying, so at 17 I decided to make an appointment with another speech therapist. I was already aware of why I had an underbite and why I didn't speak properly, but she was the one who explained everything to me and taught me how to keep my tongue in the right position and how to swallow properly, which I found out later was what Dr Mike Mew was teaching people on KZhead for free. January of this year, I also went back to the orthodontist that treated me 10 years ago and started a new treatment with braces and micro implants to pull my mandible back. He told me that my case was eased by "nature" and that the micro implants would be better for me than surgery. Now I understand that what eased my case was my tongue moving to the roof of my mouth and applying pressure on my maxila, instead of my mandible Now I am 18 years old and tomorrow will be one year since I corrected my tongue position, aka started mewing. My face changed so much since then that I had people from school I haven't seen in a while telling me that I looked so different they didn't recognize me at first sight. It's funny how they couldn't say exactly what have changed cause they were probably uneducated on the subject. I still don't speak perfectly and I still have a long way to go through my treatment, but everything could be different if my parents were able to spot the issue when I was a baby, and didn't neglect my treatment. The problem is that the parents never think it is a big deal or will affect their children's life much, that's why the content Dr Mike Mew and Qoves Studio produce is so important, to educate people at not making such a mistake on their children's life or even being able to change their own life. Yes, mewing isn't some fast solution, it takes time, but if you're unsatisfied with your looks, it is something you can do to change that. I don't care if it will take five plus years for me to get to the point I aim, but if correcting tongue position could help this much someone that has malocclusion, I am sure it can change the life of all these people with a normal occlusion wanting some improvement.

My tongue immediately touches the roof of my mouth (including the soft palette), my jaw muscles become more prominent, my throat looks wider and I inhale more efficiently (which was actually the initial concern, because I wanted to build my endurance in exercising and singing). Also I lose the lower lip "jowl" that I've had since my teens. I don't know/care what will happen in a few years aesthetically, but I do it mainly for practical reasons. /shrug

  • Almost 3 years ago, at the age of 19, I started mewing after watching Dr. Mike Mew and some anecdotal mewing videos here in YT. For the sake identification, I am a southeast Asian male. I kinda have a long face with flat maxilla, and a mandible with high gonial angle. I also suffer from slight crossbite and underbite. Long story short, I can confidently say that mewing really worked wonders for me. At present, there are significant facial and teeth improvement that happened. My cheekbones slightly popped and casts shadow unlike before where they're nonexistent. Also, the best thing that I can see is my teeth. My underbite is now GONE, my upper teeth are now slightly in front of my lower teeth which isn't the case before. However, my teeth still looked crossbite so I think I still need to wear braces so they will aligned on the position where they should be. I can say that these significant changes proved that my maxilla MOVED. Even though its slight movement is not apparent, its movement made a huge impact on the improvement and betterment of my face. Even though I'm past the puberty stage, I'm still hoping that facial upswing will still happen over the next years to improve my jaw and side profile.

Modern humans faces are on a spectrum of deformity. I don't believe these people saying they started at 17 + and have now changed their faces. Without clear before and present images, they're likely bullshitting themselves. I started doing this mindfully at 22, now 27 and see no obvious changes. A good measure is to keep as eye on your teeth and how they're formed, because ultimately that's what influences the jaw / rest of your face. SO GLAD this video was made, thanks!

It's the same with your back posture, the only way you can look good, especially considering your back, is by you performing the habit of having a good back posture. It's that simple and it just take consistent practice and time, like with all other improvements you try to add to your body and shit.

  • About the age gap. That's true you can have the best results before 25. But you can get significant changes after that also but to a slower and smaller extent. Usually, women react better, because of the softer bone structure. So whenever you found out about being, it's worth learning it. I doing it for almost 2 years from the age of 23. I didn't become a supermodel but got very noticeable results. My face became wider, my jaw and maxilla became a little longer, and began to move forward, got slightly stronger facial features, my eyebags are reduced, got less eye asymmetry, and my nose breathing became easier. My teeth also aligned closer to a U shape, from a broken U, which is similar to a V. Mewing is working, and if you know how to spot those differences in faces, you will find direct evidence everywhere over the internet, and your personal life, even on the street, and bus... It's well distinguishable how lifestyle habits influenced a person's facial look, just by a glance...

  • I wasn't even aware this was a thing when i started doing correctly tounge posture. I was 19 at the time and would be really put off when i saw my face in the mirror. My face was soft and elongated. It just didnt look right to me. It wasn't until i saw a picture taken of me from the side without me knowing, so i was in a "normal" relaxed state, that i saw my mouth was slightly open. I looked like a slack jawed yokle. Yes. I was a mouth breathed. After untagging myself from that horrible photo i made the concious decision to start breathing through nose only. I also kind of clenched my jaw off and on like exercise. I even would squeeze my nose in to make it more narrow. In time this become automatic. By 20 my entire face changed. My face squared at the bottom. Nose looked less wide. Accompanied with losing the "youth" fat and prehaps higher testosterone the face became more masculine looking. Another interesting tid bit...in qi gong (taoist practice) they say to always keep tounge on the roof of mouth as the main energy channel running from your anus around your bodies circuit is completed by the tounge on mouth. When tounge isnt there the circuit is broken. This aid flow of chi. Hmmm. All the best on your self improvement journey. Remember a habbit is a powerful thing when in accumulates over time.

  • I belive there right about how it is essentially facial posture and your tounge should narurally sit on the roof of you mouth with your lips closed, and breathing is done through your nose as designed so it can filter out potential pathogens and more harmful inhalants. I think its pretty safe to say that it works and kids who have grown up with these habits develop better health as asthetic appeal(which is tied to percived health) however claiming to change vones structure after 20 to 25 years old is a stretch.

    @herniagaming@herniagaming8 ай бұрын
  • I'm curious to know how many people have bad posture vs how many people have the correct posture. I also think mewing does help with facial structure to some extent. I have been mewing since my whole life. I only found out what mewing is just now. I just hated the idea of breathing with my mouth because I considered it unhygienic(I read some science book that germs can easily get into your mouth so I made extra sure to keep it shut). Naturally my tongue positioned itself at the roof of my mouth which I now know it's the mewing posture. My sister, on the other hand, had hard time breathing with her nose so she kept on breathing with her mouth. Although I myself don't have a clear jawline or anything like that, my jaws are better defined than when compared to my sister. My sister also had to get braces while I didn't which I think is thanks to my posture.
