Work for a third party banking call center and I love it man! I don’t care if I make 100k a year as long as I’ve got a roof over my head and a warm bed I’m happy!
If you’re in college don’t expect to just walk into these roles without either A. Going to a target school or B. Getting a very good internship. Something I wish I knew. Everyone has a bachelors these days so that really has no merit
Very useful video for a college student going into the job market.
Thanks! Glad you think so.
The best video I have seen in my life. You saved my career
Now I understand why so many people get finance degrees to work in banking. I didn't know you could make salaries this high.
bro.. Finance, Technology, Medicine, Engineering, & Consulting offer the highest paid salaries in the world, on average sub six figures. And they’re ALWAYS in demand.
I hope that is still the case after I graduate because I’m sick and tired doing hard labor job. I’m going back to school for finance
@@dolphfrancoDo Computer Science. AI is coming in and those lads will be needed to innovate them.
Thank you a lot for the video! Really helpful
Do you consider ‘risk’ as a finance job ? Thanks
You read my mind. I was thinking about how cool a video like this would be a few days ago. I majored in finance and I'm currently working as a Finance Intelligence Analyst for a big tech company. Finance is extremely interesting and a lot of passionate people seem to be getting involved in the field. Anyone out there thinking about majoring in finance, do it! It's the best major in terms of understanding the "ins and outs" of businesses.
Hi Rafael, I'm also planning to pursue US CPA, is it a good career path?
Thanks my guy. Wasnt sure if I should study it
I have my bachelors in business management and I’m going back to school for my MS in finance corporate finance.

Kool, What is an average realistic salary for the type of work you are doing?
could u do a video on jobs related to sustainability ? thanks!
Love your animation improvements in this video. Strategy Consult is my favorites in this video. Love it ,bro. 😉👍
Thanks!
Good list! but could include restructuring also
Been waiting for this. Thank you so much Shane!!

What about a Quantitative developer/engineer? Is it similar to software in finance? I googled average salary and it was around 200000.
Thank you for making this video it really helped alot
Happy to help!
Looking to move from my beginning teller position at a savings bank to a brokerage. There’s quite a bit of difference in the professionalism between the two, so hopefully this won’t be a problem.
Can someone answer me this. If I don't go to a target school are any of these jobs eventually attainable? Or could I find a high paying job elsewhere on finance?
This video has made me confirm that I want to work in finance, I suggest you make a video on how to get some of these jobs if it fits in your interests.
Thank you! Been looking forward to this video for awhile now. I’m a sophomore finance MIS double major and I loveeeee your videos! Super helpful. You are part of the reason I added the MIS major
Great combination. I’m Economics and am interested in Sustainable Finance / Investments
Wow! Thanks, Mitchell! Best of luck!
That is so awesome! I am majoring in fin and mis too. The funny thing is my mis is mostly because of his videos lol. Good luck!
I literally had the same idea and been debating if it was a good idea but you just helped me lock it in I thought finance plus technology/ business would be very helpful in finding ways to make passive income later on.
Could you kindly do Supply Chain Management or logistics career tier list Next? Thanks 😁

First year quant trader at any of the top 10 or so prop shops will make 250-300k+ tbh in total comp
What about Financial Advising or Wealth Management banker?
Can you do highest paid accounting career’s next?
Those don't exist
thx bro, helped me out qa ton
How about HFT (High Frequency Trading) like Optiver, Citadel or Flowtraders?
You need a quantitative background, in terms of pay: Citadel > Optiver > Flowtraders. However, it is worth noting that flowtraders is much lower in salary compared to the other two.
Its hard because the S tier positions pay well but with insane hours. Most people wouldn't mind working hard to become an expert at something if they're compensated fairly. It's the being expected to work long hours even after acquiring the skillset that bothers me. Is there any career that comes to mind? The closest thing I have heard is software development in Fintech.
Why don't you become head of cyber security at Citibank in London? Delegate out the work to your team, use some tracking tools, and put your feet up with a cigar. If it goes wrong blame a lawyer for misguided advice or refer to some ts and cs
starting in Deloitte M and A as a first proper job, hopefully opens up more opporunities
This shows how best finance major is! I am second year banking and finance student.. also majoring in marketing btwn.
Thank you this video helped a lot
You're welcome. Glad it helped.
Very informative video and it is only 13 mins. I'll save this for reference later.
Glad you liked it!
My uni has a finace major w/real estate concentration. I know of real estate brokers and real estate consulting careers. I think those would have been interesting additions to the list.
That is my base education. Believe me that in order to be successful and competitive, you will need to branch out and obtain numerous additional degrees and/or certifications. I ended up spending 12 years in school with 6 of those years also working with multinationals. I can safely say I am now in the top 1% within my specialized field. I left the rat race of the big dogs and opened up my own investment management fund with a major public sector client that accounts for 99% of my fund so far. I transitioned back into all things real estate and I couldn't be happier.
What is your company name ? I would like to learn about it:)
What uni
my cousin is the head of operations at a hedge fund in singapore and makes about $1m a year (including bonus). he was a history major (albeit from any ivy). goes to show these numbers can vary widely

@smartfreelancer-dp2qd you can do a masters in anything you want. It's not always related to your Bachelors. But most Finance Masters require industrial experience as a prerequisite
Investment bankers for sure make a lot of money . I worked with a few in Los Angeles , they have an initial fee from $75k -$120k and and on top of that a $500k after the capital Raise is done .

Id be interested in you evaluating the different subcategories of consulting! There’s so much variety in consulting
is there a program, video, or some kind of guide, that’ll help newcomers enter into the financial space?
Wondering the same man but I been learning it for the past 3 years recently started to invest in myself n getting more insight from asset manager without a curriculum/ program I enjoy the trading side of it but equity analyst sound I can see myself do but I have no degree for some sort of school so I need some I can enter with some sort of certificate
Internships are the only entry point unless you got family in these businesses or very deep connections. Also you need to live in a city where these businesses exist.
Thank u 🙏🏾
How and where could I find people who actually studied these majors. Like for example if I wanna talk with a engineer or a doctor that would be easy but finding a finance manger or etc
Great information Shane, have you heard of supply chain finance careers. Thanks for the helpful information 👍
You mist out the Financial Risk manager's role and quantitative analyst
Keep in mind glass door is usually 40% lower than what it actually is lol

If you get a finance degree but not from the best school is it still possible to get the high end finance jobs?
You never have a guarantee. I think it depends a lot on your CV and your experience.
Can you do a incone tier list of all the popular green jobs out there? I want to do a green job in the future, but i also want great pay :)
what about investor relations manager or director?
Hi Shane, can you make a video specific to computer engineering and Chip design and development?
Not exactly finance, but is revenue management a good career path to go down?
Why learn about the stock market when all you need is the Inverse Cramer Law
How do investment bankers work 120 hr a week. That's more than 17 hours a day.
Strategy/Management Consulting is S Tier so is Investment Banking. They're 1a & 1b from an exit opportunity perspective. PE, VC, & Hedge Funds are all S Tier but hours much more.
Covered everything in the most consice manner. Bet a lot of time has gone in research. Awesome Shane, love your videos
I’m from Ireland and am living here… theses number do not reflect the jobs market over here…. 60000-90000 is the range here for most of the jobs you listed…. Starting out your lucky to be on 35k

Hello Mr. Hummus, i hope you will mention risk analysts and risk managers in your next video.
Start master of science in fintech this September semester wish luck🙏☺️
There's so much money in finance it's insane...
@ShaneHummus you missed out capital markets
And wealth management ?
i’ve always known i want to work in finance so i want to get a finance degree but my parents say it’s a useless degree and i should do engineering. advice??
First and foremost, do what's best for your life, not your parents. An engineering degree in any field will pay a 6-figure base salary for life. Finance, you have to get the right job, or you could end up being a manager at Walmart
Hi Shane. What do you think about Digital Business degree? Is it worth to have a major in it?
Don't do it. Get a degree either in accounting or business administration!
@@roythousand13 why not?
@Sarah , Digital Business degree is too new and doesn't have a track record of its degree holders being successful!
@@roythousand13 I know it's been 11 months, but right know I'm majoring Taxation in Indonesia. Even though it is not as abroad as accounting degree, but the knowledge and technical skills in accounting and tax regulations are heavily learned. Do you think that it is a good option? And is it possible for me to someday switch career into finance and investment?
@april skies ,if your degree in taxation has some of the same courses as accounting, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Asset management is there, but it is more of an industry as a whole, including wealth and portfolio managers. So you can refer Portfolio management and Asset Management at the same time
Hello just wondering if you can talk more about the investment banking. Like do you need a Bachelors degree if not what do you need ?
Shane, you talk about how accounting is a better degree than finance because accounting can do finance, but finance can’t do accounting. How many of these jobs can you get with an accounting degree? I’m thinking of switching majors from business admin to accountancy. I appreciate all the videos you put out!!!
This is so inaccurate... Please, do not believe this
Accounting is very broad, be careful You can make the switch from Transaction/ M&A deals and Financial Due Diligence (all of these are accounting) into the finance world But you can't make the switch if you're in tax because there's less overlap.
@@TDesting its pretty true. I did big 4 audit first and then went to corp finance. The work in finance is wayyyyy easier to do and understand than the concepts of accounting
@@dar7279 You are oversimplifying a lot. What does "I did big 4 audit" mean? What does "work in finance" mean? There are 1,000 different jobs in finance. Market risk analyst? Trader? Portfolio manager? Research analyst? Investment banker? An accounting degree will focus a lot on learning about financial statements, taxes and business law, while a finance degree will focus a lot on learning about financial markets, derivatives, investing and economics. The two are literally not comparable, and you certainly cannot say that an accounting degree contains all of the elements of a finance degree and more. That is just plain nonsense. The two degrees are barely overlapping to be honest. If you believe the statement in the OP to be true, then you do not have enough insight into how the two types of degrees/areas differr and I believe chances are that you do not have a master's degree in either.
@@TDesting your talking all this and dont know what big 4 audit is…
