    • They tug at my feelers. Seeing them live fills my heart with joy. I'm not much younger than the band and live close to Oklahoma so I have seen them several times. Lucky enough to have been at the pandemic bubble show. Missed out on so many concerts during the lockdown, but The Lips came through in true rebel freak style.

    • I discovered them at JUST THE RIGHT TIME 1999! 'THE SOFT BULLETIN' is in 'Pet Sounds category. When 'Yoshimi Dropped, I from Diego to LA to buy Multiple copies of both cuz I knew they'd become huge & the absurdly limited pressing number was a joke. In 2001 pressings were $11.99! Lmao. Well worth hour plus trip. I got to see them whem they opened for BECK & were his ba d at Symphony Hall. Best big venue in S.D.

    • You... You know what it's like to get a hug from God while leaving Earth? Can you send gods contact info? I don't even want the technology to reliably and safely leave Earth, but I WOULD like to have a conversation and a hug with the Sadist who choose the initial starting conditions that led to every single predictable event since...and then walk away with a hug.

    • I saw them twice in the late 80s back when they were coming off as a rock and roll band. They blew my mind. They had the Lawrence Welk bubble machine and strawberry fog and the coolest rudimentary faux laser thingy with a disco ball. The first time I saw them I thought I was going to a punk show, and everyone was sitting cross-legged on the floor. I was confused.

  • Wayne needs to realise he’s already in one of the best bands on the planet, that’s why all those people are there, we don’t need to be told to ‘cmon cmon cmon’ after and before each song. I’m 58 yrs old mate, I’m no teenager. I pay my money to watch a brilliant band do their stuff, I enjoy every minute of it but I don’t want to feel guilty for not ‘whooing’ loud enough. Your not judged on how nutty the crowd appears, just do your stuff, it’s mind blowing how good you guys are and I’ve been with you since 97 !

  • I've seen these guys a bunch in the states and they always burned the stage to ashes with the backing of crowd participation. Wayne Coyne is one of the best front men I've ever seen and my heart weeps for him here as I watch him play for people that have no idea what they are watching, or just don't care.

  • Man, I love that the psychedelic bands are still doing great light shows. As a kid I always wanted to be a stage lighting guy. I did end up doing it for a few years in my early 20s and pretty quickly realised the jobs mostly just lugging steel and continuing would just screw my back eventually, but I always had an eye for beautiful stage lighting, it can make a gig MAGIC. But at some point in the 90s bands just stopped doing it. I think it got a bit too associated with hair metal. But it forgets all the experimental stage craziness that psych, prog, and other sorts of bands used to do with it. But look at this magic! My god. I feel that teenager in my all over again

They care about song craft and audio quality at their shows too in addition to the amazing party atmosphere with killer lights. This video rocks with great camera work and really good sound! Thanks for the post. BTW, in my five decades of attending live music the FLIPS fans are the absolute best to share a musical experience with. Wayne sets the tone and it grows!

  • I saw them do the soft bulletin in Melbourne earlier this year, and Wayne was badgering the crowd the same way I found it really off putting, like the crowd wasn’t giving them enough energy. But you know it was a theatre show with everybody in seats, and that album has a lot of slow songs on it and Wayne was telling stories in between each song, I think it’s hard for everyone to be screaming and going crazy the whole time, it doesn’t mean they aren’t enjoying it. ( I am a big fan btw so am not complaining about them, absolutely love the new album)

  • I have been to my fair share of The flaming Lips shows and I truly know that the audience participation is 75% of what the show can give you. It can make or break a shows experience and watching the crowd's reaction throughout this particular show certainly would have sucked to have been in the audience then. I'm thinking that the majority of the crowd just did not get or understand what they were in for.

  • Long time fan, not so much since Wayne put on the white suit and started pontificating like a TV minister. Too much talking kills the synergy between songs, here being a perfect example- a great performance, you're off in space on a trippy cloud of music and then this guy starts telling you what you heard or should think. Blah blah blah. Let the music do the talking! Also, leave the screaming to the Kiss and Justin Timberlake fans- How many time does he say "C'mon c'mon c'mon" with the Mussolini hand gesture LOL? I prefer an audience that LISTENS as opposed to clapping along or singing the choruses.

    • Too many. It destroyed the feel of the show. The crowd was obviously mesmerized and that is what this show deserves.

  • Maybe the crowd is tripping? Also, it looks completely sold out this venue so I wouldn't complain too much if a were in playing with FL here.

  • i love the records, and I love his voice on the records, but what the hell is with the vocals?? his vocals are dreadful, out of tune, straining, cracking............ and they are still so bad even though he also has them running through effects and no doubt autotune! that must mean he his missing the notes by so much that the auttotune can't really fix them... But nevertheless the guy tries to put in a lot of passion which is great.
