Chloé Hayden is an award winning motivational speaker, actor, performer, author, influencer, content creator and disability rights activist and advocate, she’s also one of the stars of the Netflix reboot of ‘Heartbreak High’ where she plays one of the world’s first autistic characters, Quinni. Em jumped on board ‘Heartbreak High’ the minute it dropped because the original series was totes one of her favourite things EVER. As she devoured every episode it was the character of Quinni and how the show truly embraced and explained her experience of being autistic, that really connected with Em. Chloé was diagnosed as autistic and ADHD at 13 and she joins Em to talk all of the things, from the writing and release of her new book ‘Different, Not Less’, to where she was when she found out she secured the groundbreaking role of Quinni. Chloé also offers some great advice for parents of teenagers with autism and ADHD, reveals how the character of Quinni has helped so many people, plus Em and Chloé find out how alike they actually are and why you should never call them ‘quirky’. It's a fabulous, fast and funny chat that we know you’re gonna love, so find your favourite chill space, press play and get watching!

  • I don't go non verbal, instead my speech will regress so that I sound like a toddler, when it is only a little bad it is just the way that I pronounce words, when it is worse it is also the sentence structure. For me if you are in extended burnout it can easily get mistaken for having major depression

  • I just got diagnosed at 49 and it's thrown me a bit of a loop. This makes me feel so seen, after years in the wilderness. Thank you, so much!

  • It's funny, for math, I had tons of trouble with remembering my arithmetic facts in elementary school, but I was well ahead of my class on the actual algorithmic part (long division / multiplication, etc.)

  • I went nonverbal/selectively mute when I was in an abusive relationship and it was genuinely one of the darkest periods in my life. Even going to the store to buy things I would try to force myself to talk to the cashier and could only make a vague sound/grunt and my partner would make fun of me/berate me for it later and call me retarded. It was humiliating

  • At least you’re both still cute and quirky! I sadly lost that innocence at a young age and those beautiful traits were long beaten out of me. I’m autistic, but I’m too much of a basic bitch. The femininity, beauty and innocence is gone. I’m just a husk.

    • Nope. I'm not on-board with this interviewer. They are searching for something but they are also very aware of what many neurodivergent people experience. Sorry. Sometimes I've been burned. Feels wrong. This person is a user. Sorry if I'm wrong

We'd recommend you watch this address from Em for more context. kzhead.info/sun/Z9pxaLucaWJ9nI0/bejne.html
